  • Occurrence of gamma-trace in the calcitonin-producing C-cells of simian thyroid gland and human medullary thyroid carcinoma
  • 1983
  • Ingår i: Acta Endocrinologica. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0001-5598 .- 0804-4643 .- 1479-683X. ; 104:1, s. 69-76
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • gamma-Trace, a microprotein occurring in neuroendocrine cells, was demonstrated by immunohistochemical technique to be present in the calcitonin-producing C-cells of normal simian thyroid gland and of human medullary thyroid carcinoma. A comparatively high concentration of gamma-trace was demonstrated in tissue extract of neoplastic C-cells. The immunoreactive protein found in the extract had a molecular weight and electrophoretic mobility characteristic for gamma-trace.

  • Covid-19 in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia : clinical outcome and B- and T-cell immunity during 13 months in consecutive patients
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Leukemia. - : Springer Nature. - 0887-6924 .- 1476-5551. ; 36:2, s. 476-481
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We studied clinical and immunological outcome of Covid-19 in consecutive CLL patients from a well-defined area during month 1–13 of the pandemic. Sixty patients (median age 71 y, range 43–97) were identified. Median CIRS was eight (4–20). Patients had indolent CLL (n = 38), had completed (n = 12) or ongoing therapy (n = 10). Forty-six patients (77%) were hospitalized due to severe Covid-19 and 11 were admitted to ICU. Severe Covid-19 was equally distributed across subgroups irrespective of age, gender, BMI, CLL status except CIRS (p < 0.05). Fourteen patients (23%) died; age ≥75 y was the only significant risk factor (p < 0.05, multivariate analysis with limited power). Comparing month 1–6 vs 7–13 of the pandemic, deaths were numerically reduced from 32% to 18%, ICU admission from 37% to 15% whereas hospitalizations remained frequent (86% vs 71%). Seroconversion occurred in 33/40 patients (82%) and anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were detectable at six and 12 months in 17/22 and 8/11 patients, respectively. Most (13/17) had neutralizing antibodies and 19/28 had antibodies in saliva. SARS-CoV-2-specific T-cells (ELISpot) were detected in 14/17 patients. Covid-19 continued to result in high admission even among consecutive and young early- stage CLL patients. A robust and durable B and/or T cell immunity was observed in most convalescents.

  • Long range interactions in nanoscale science
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Reviews of Modern Physics. - 0034-6861. ; 82:2, s. 1887-1944
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Our understanding of the “long range” electrodynamic, electrostatic, and polar interactions that dominate the organization of small objects at separations beyond an interatomic bond length is reviewed. From this basic-forces perspective, a large number of systems are described from which one can learn about these organizing forces and how to modulate them. The many practical systems that harness these nanoscale forces are then surveyed. The survey reveals not only the promise of new devices and materials, but also the possibility of designing them more effectively.

  • Archiving Primary Data : Solutions for Long-Term Studies
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Trends in Ecology & Evolution. - : Elsevier BV. - 0169-5347 .- 1872-8383. ; 30:10, s. 581-589
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The recent trend for journals to require open access to primary data included in publications has been embraced by many biologists, but has caused apprehension amongst researchers engaged in long-term ecological and evolutionary studies. A worldwide survey of 73 principal investigators (PIs) with long-term studies revealed positive attitudes towards sharing data with the agreement or involvement of the PI, and 93% of PIs have historically shared data. Only 8% were in favor of uncontrolled, open access to primary data while 63% expressed serious concern. We present here their viewpoint on an issue that can have non-trivial scientific consequences. We discuss potential costs of public data archiving and provide possible solutions to meet the needs of journals and researchers.
