  • Model-Informed Precision Dosing: Background, Requirements, Validation, Implementation, and Forward Trajectory of Individualizing Drug Therapy
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology. - : Annual Reviews Inc.. - 0362-1642 .- 1545-4304. ; 61:36, s. 1-21
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Model-informed precision dosing (MIPD) has become synonymous with modern approaches forindividualizing drug therapy, in which the characteristics of each patient are considered as opposedto applying a one-size-fits-all alternative. This review provides a brief account of the currentknowledge, practices, and opinions on MIPD while defining an achievable vision for MIPDin clinical care based on available evidence. We begin with a historical perspective on variabilityin dose requirements and then discuss technical aspects of MIPD, including the need for clinicaldecision support tools, practical validation, and implementation of MIPD in health care.Wealso discuss novel ways to characterize patient variability beyond the common perceptions of geneticcontrol. Finally, we address current debates on MIPD from the perspectives of the new drugdevelopment, health-care economics, and drug regulations.

  • Microstructure evaluation of dissimilar AA2024 and AA7050 aluminum joints made by corner stationary-shoulder friction stir welding
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Welding in the World. - : SPRINGER HEIDELBERG. - 0043-2288 .- 1878-6669.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fillet welds made by the corner stationary-shoulder friction stir welding process between AA7050-T7451 and AA2024-T4 sheets were characterized using different metallographic techniques and mechanical testing. Robotic welds of an aircraft’s skin-to-internal stiffeners were examined using Barker’s electrolytic and Keller’s etching techniques and correlated with electron backscattered diffraction results and energy-dispersive microprobe analysis. The composition and grain orientation maps and material flow lines demonstrated excellent weld quality in spite of the apparent inhomogeneities in the stir zone where mechanical mixing was complete. Welded joint efficiencies were in the 85-92% of the base metals and were acceptable in terms of resistance to crack initiation and propagation and corrosion resistance, even with softening of the heat-affected zones. It was concluded that several optical and electron microscopy techniques are needed to characterize these dissimilar aluminum welds fully and that post-weld mechanical and thermal treatments could even further improve their quality.

  • Basic Surveillance Network, a European database for surveillance data on infectious diseases
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Euro surveillance : bulletin Europeen sur les maladies transmissibles = European communicable disease bulletin. - : European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC). - 1560-7917. ; 9:7, s. 1-2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Basic Surveillance Network was started in 2000 and is one of the networks on infectious diseases funded by the European Commission. The network collects and makes readily available basic surveillance data on infectious diseases from all the 'old' (pre-2004) European Union member states. The aim is to provide easy access to descriptive data that already exist in national databases, so that it is possible to monitor and compare incidence trends for infectious diseases in the EU member states. The list of diseases covered by the network has recently been expanded from 10 initial 'pilot' diseases to over 40 diseases listed by the EU to be under surveillance. In the near future, the new member states will be invited to participate in the network. Data are case-based and comprise date of onset of disease, age and sex. Only a very short list of disease specific additional variables, such as country of infection or immunisation status, is collected. Classification of cases ( possible, probable, confirmed) is specified according to EU case definitions. The participants of the network have access to an internal web site were all the data is presented in tables and graphs. An open website is available for the public at https://www.eubsn.org./BSN/
