  • Context-based Ontology-driven Recommendation Strategies for Tourism in Ubiquitous Computing
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Wireless personal communications. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0929-6212 .- 1572-834X. ; 76:4, s. 731-745
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Tourism is an information-intensive business. At present, there are a lot of information and tourism resources available on the internet that lead to low searching efficiency and effectiveness, the user may get too many seeking results but not related to his interest, or few results than his expected. The user can know clearly what he wants, but sometime the user doesn't know what kind information he needs. User's demand can be formulated as direct demand and potential preference. At the same time, the study shows that there is strong relationship between the traveler's potential preference and the characteristics of tourism resources. In order to solve the information overload challenge, recommendation services are increasingly emerging. Currently, recommendation methods focus on dealing with personalized matching based on the user preference. However, these methods skip the user's direct demand. In this paper, we propose ontology-driven recommendation strategies based on user's context. The strategies use ontology to describe and integrate tourism resources, achieve the goal of associating user's direct needs and his potential preference as the context in recommendation. Moreover, theoretical analysis and experiments show that the proposed approach is feasible, the results of the evaluation are discussed.

  • Multilingual ontology matching based on Wiktionary data accessible via SPARQL Endpoint
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 13th Russian Conference on Digital Libraries RCDL’2011. ; , s. 19-26
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Interoperability is a feature required by the Semantic Web. It is provided by the ontology matching methods and algorithms. But now ontologies are presented not only in English, but in other languages as well. It is important to use an automatic translation for obtaining correct matching pairs in multilingual ontology matching. The translation into many languages could be based on the Google Translate API, the Wiktionary database, etc. From the point of view of the balance of presence of many languages, of manually crafted translations, of a huge size of a dictionary, the most promising resource is the Wiktionary. It is a collaborative project working on the same principles as the Wikipedia. The parser of the Wiktionary was developed and the machine-readable dictionary was designed. The data of the machine-readable Wiktionary are stored in a relational database, but with the help of D2R server the database is presented as an RDF store. Thus, it is possible to get lexicographic information (definitions, translations, synonyms) from web service using SPARQL requests. In the case study, the problem entity is a task of multilingual ontology matching based on Wiktionary data accessible via SPARQL endpoint. Ontology matching results obtained using Wiktionary were compared with results based on Google Translate API.

  • State of the Art : Automatic Ontology Matching
  • 2007
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This report describes the theoretical foundations and relevant background in the domain of automatic ontology matching. It aims to show the range of ontology matching, matching strategies, and an overview of ontology matching systems. The measures for evaluating ontology matching are discussed. This report also summarizes interesting research questions in the field.

  • Information Reuse and Interoperability with Ontology Patterns and Linked Data : First Experiences from the ExpertFinder Project
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Business information system workshops. - Berlin : Springer. - 9783642154010 ; , s. 168-179
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Semantic web technologies show great promise in usage scenarios that involve information logistics. This paper is an experience report on improving the semantic web ontology underlying an application used in expert finding. We use ontology design patterns to find and correct poor design choices, and align the application ontology to commonly used semantic web ontologies in order to increase the interoperability of the ontology and application. Lessons learned and problems faced are discussed, and possible future developments of the project mapped out.

  • Logistics-as-a-service : ontology-based architecture and approach
  • 2012
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Cyber-Physics System (CPS) is a relatively new term assuming tight integration of physical systems andcyber (IT) systems interacting in real time. Such systems aim at providing a flexible and extensibleinfrastructure supporting a variety of inputs (e.g. sensor-based and customer needs) and outputs(actuators or indicators/displays). CPSs rely on communication, computation and control infrastructuresto provide for efficient utilization of logistics infrastructure resources. In this context, Logistics-as-a-Service (LaaS) is a logistics network of organizations, people, information and resources supported byservice-oriented cyber-physical systems. Intelligent multimodal logistics network is an important node inthe worldwide logistics, involved in moving a product from supplier to customer or providing anaccompanying service. The paper presents a generic architecture scheme for LaaS, which is based onrepresenting elements of the logistics networks as services. In this environment, the role of anapplication ontology and integration of individual and organizational competences is investigated andthe use of ontology matching for finding suitable resources in a multi-lingual logistics network isdiscussed.

  • A New Expanding Tree Ontology Matching Method
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of OTM 2007.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Due to an increased awareness of potential ontology applications in industry, public administration and academia, a growing number of ontologies are created by different organizations and individuals. Although these ontologies are developed for various application purposes and areas, they often contain overlapping information. In this context, it is necessary to find ways to integrate various ontologies and enable use of multiple ontologies. A number of concepts and approaches for ontology alignment and matching have been developed in this field. In this paper, we introduce our preliminary work on ontology matching using polygon-based similarity aggregation. The main ideas we contribute to the research field are (1) to aggregate the results of distance calculations between concepts in different ontologies by creating polygons for each ontology and (2) to compare the area of these polygons for deciding on similarity.
