14 dialogseminarier från Jokkmokk till Helsingborg : 14 dialogue seminars on traditional craft skills - from Jokkmokk to Helsingborg

- med syftet att informera om Hantverkslaboratoriet, att bjuda in till diskussion om verksamhetens utformning, samt att samla in förslag på projekt och samarbeten. Aktörer från landets 21 län har inbjudits till 14 platser, från Jokkmokk i norr till Helsingborg i söder. Utbildningsinstitutioner, länsstyrelsernas kultur och naturvårdsenheter, hemslöjdskonsulenterna, byggnadsvårdscentran, besöksträdgårdar, länsmuseerna, stiften m.fl. har medverkat. Totalt har dialogseminarierna samlat 320 personer. De huvudsakliga frågeteman som behandlats i gruppdiskussionerna är 1. Kunskapssituationen för traditionella hantverkskunskaper, 2. Materialförsörjningen inom kulturmiljövården, 3. Förslag på projekt, och 4. Nätverk och samarbete.

- Academisation concerns the phenomenon where vocational and practice-oriented fields enter higher education, but also the fact that higher education in general becomes more firmly directed towards scholar competences and research. The ongoing academisation have put pressure on craft educations to develop more efficient pedagogical approaches to hands on skills-acquisition. This paper elaborate on combinations of film instruction and face-to-face learning to augment both hands-on skills and analytical attitudes in crafts. The paper reviews the research field and reflects on own experiences in the use of e-learning and filmed instructions in craft education. The research material consist of own production of film instructions and assessment of pedagogical uses in craft education in graduate courses. The research question is how e-learning can be used in craft education to complement and gear up the efficiency of face-to-face instruction? The preliminary result points at the need to develop a variety of genres of instructions. Filmed instructions need to be declared in terms of learning outcomes and constructively linked to other pedagogical formats of a course curriculum.

- Nätverket KKBM - kompetensförsörjning för kulturhistoriska byggnader och miljöer - syftar till att tillgodose behovet av fortbildning hos byggbranschens aktörer, beställare, rådgivare och utförare, inomområdena, drift, underhåll, restaurering, och varsam ombyggnad av kulturhistoriskt värdefulla byggnader och miljöer av varierande ålder. Hantverkslaboratoriet presenterar i denna rapport en omvärldsanalys som bygger på tre delundersökningar: kartläggning av tidigare utredningar och forskning, kartläggning av dagens resultat av dialogseminarier med yrkesfolk inom fältet kulturhistoriska byggnader och miljöer.

- Photoelectron-Auger electron coincidence spectroscopy is a powerful tool for the investigation of Auger decay processes with different core-ionized intermediate states. In this paper we describe an investigation into the Auger decay of the O-2 molecule, with the purpose of bringing new insight into the dynamics of the core hole decay mechanism. Using a novel experimental approach to measuring such coincidence spectra we report the highest resolution Auger spectrum of O-2 recorded hitherto. In our approach, we have combined the advantages of these coincidence spectra with the high resolution and excellent signal-to-noise ratios of non-coincident Auger spectra and a state-of-the-art fit analysis. In this way we have derived information about the potential energy curves of the final states W-3 Delta(u), B-3 Pi(g), and B' (3)Sigma(-)(u) and concluded that the corresponding Auger transitions are formed to a large part by strongly overlapping vibrational progressions. The present findings are compared to earlier results reported in the literature confirming some theoretical predictions. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

- Photoelectron spectra of tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) dissolved in water have been recorded using a novel experimental set-up, which enables photoelectron spectroscopy of volatile liquids. The set-up is described in detail. Ionization energies are reported for I− 5p, I− 4d, C 1s and N 1s. The C 1s spectrum shows evidence of inelastic scattering of the photoelectrons, that differs from the case of TBAI in formamide.

- Core-level photoelectron spectra of free neutral methane clusters have been recorded. These spectra exhibit well-resolved surface and bulk features as well as vibrational fine structure. The vibrational structure in the cluster signal is well reproduced by a theoretical model that assumes independent contributions from inter- and intramolecular modes. The intramolecular contribution to the vibrational line-shape is taken to be equal to that of the monomer in the gas phase, while the intermolecular part is simplified to line broadening. An estimate of the cluster size has been made on the basis of the observed surface-to-bulk intensity ratio.

- Free neutral methanol clusters produced by adiabatic expansion have been studied by photoelectron spectroscopy and line shape modeling. The results show that clusters belonging to two distinct size regimes can be produced by changing the expansion conditions. While the larger size regime can be well described by line shapes calculated for clusters consisting of hundreds of molecules, the smaller size regime corresponds to methanol oligomers, predominantly of cyclic structure. There is little contribution from dimers to the spectra.

Significance of xylan and glucomannan in the brightness reversion of kraft pulps

- The brightness reversion of kraft pulps is caused by the presence of residual lignin, chlorinated extractives, or oxidized carbohydrates. The effect of hemicellulose content, i.e., xylan (I) and glucomannan (II), on the thermal stability of modern bleached kraft pulps was investigated. Different O-delignified hard- and softwood kraft pulps were bleached with different bleaching sequences contg. ClO2, H2O2, or O3. Hemicellulose-degrading enzymes, i.e., xylanase or mannanase, were used for selective removal of the resp. hemicellulose from the pulps, and the role of partially removed I and II on the brightness stability of these pulps was studied. Because of the structure of kraft I, enzymic removal of I also resulted in a decreased carboxyl group content in the pulps, whereas II removal did not affect the carboxyl group content. By decreasing the carboxyl groups in the pulps in conjunction with I removal, the thermal aging of the pulps was significantly decreased. The role of II was less significant. Thus, the uronic acids present in the pulp participate in the brightness reversion of kraft pulps.

- The effects of xylan and glucomannan on the thermal stability of unbleached, partially bleached, and fully bleached pine and birch kraft pulps were studied. The choice of bleaching chems. strongly affected the brightness reversion. Compared with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine dioxide, bleaching with ozone reduced the amt. of carboxyl groups and subsequently the pc-nos. of oxygen-delignified pulps. Xylan removal reduced also the amt. of carboxyl groups in the pulps and this was reflected in improved brightness stability whereas glucomannan removal had no effect. Thus, the uronic acids bound to pulp xylan were found to participate in the brightness reversion of kraft pulps.
