    • We describe the so-called time-reversal space-time block coding (TR-STBC) transmission scheme for communication systems with multiple transmit antennas operating over frequency-selective channels. TR-STBC can be seen as an extension of the orthogonal space-time block codes for flat fading channels. We show that using TR-STBC, a linear filtering at the receiver can achieve an approximate decoupling of the space-time channel into scalar and independent frequency-selective channels and hence any standard maximum-likelihood sequence detector (MLSD) can be used for equalization. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the performance of the TR-STBC transmission scheme.

  • A human protein atlas for normal and cancer tissues based on antibody proteomics

    • Antibody-based proteomics provides a powerful approach for the functional study of the human proteome involving the systematic generation of protein-specific affinity reagents. We used this strategy to construct a comprehensive, antibody-based protein atlas for expression and localization profiles in 48 normal human tissues and 20 different cancers. Here we report a new publicly available database containing, in the first version, similar to 400,000 high resolution images corresponding to more than 700 antibodies toward human proteins. Each image has been annotated by a certified pathologist to provide a knowledge base for functional studies and to allow queries about protein profiles in normal and disease tissues. Our results suggest it should be possible to extend this analysis to the majority of all human proteins thus providing a valuable tool for medical and biological research.

  • Therapist-guided online metacognitive intervention for excessive worry : a randomized controlled trial with mediation analysis

    • Previous studies have found an association between excessive worrying and negative beliefs about worry. It is unclear if change in these beliefs mediate worry reduction. This study aimed to examine (1) if a simplified online metacognitive intervention can reduce worry, (2) whether changes in negative beliefs about worry mediate changes in worry severity, and (3) moderated mediation, i.e., if the mediating effect is more pronounced in individuals with a high degree of negative beliefs about worry at baseline. Adult excessive worriers (N = 108) were randomized to 10-weeks of the online metacognitive intervention (MCI) aimed at reducing negative beliefs about worry, or to wait-list (WL). Outcomes, mediation, and moderated mediation were examined via growth curve modelling. Results indicated a significant reduction in the MCI group (d = 1.6). Reductions in negative beliefs about worry and depressive symptoms separately mediated changes in worry severity during the intervention, but in a multivariate test only the former remained significant. Sensitivity analysis indicated that the hypothesized mediation was robust to possible violations of mediator-outcome confounding. The moderated mediation hypothesis was not supported. The results from this randomized trial add to the growing literature suggesting that negative beliefs about worry play a key role in worry-related problems.   • Systematic analysis reveals a functional role for STAMBPL1 in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition process across multiple carcinomas

    • Background Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) are linked to cancer progression and dissemination, yet less is known about their regulation and impact on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Methods An integrative translational approach combining systematic computational analyses of The Cancer Genome Atlas cancer cohorts with CRISPR genetics, biochemistry and immunohistochemistry methodologies to identify and assess the role of human DUBs in EMT. Results We identify a previously undiscovered biological function of STAM-binding protein like 1 (STAMBPL1) deubiquitinase in the EMT process in lung and breast carcinomas. We show that STAMBPL1 expression can be regulated by mutant p53 and that its catalytic activity is required to affect the transcription factor SNAI1. Accordingly, genetic depletion and CRISPR-mediated gene knockout of STAMBPL1 leads to marked recovery of epithelial markers, SNAI1 destabilisation and impaired migratory capacity of cancer cells. Reversely, STAMBPL1 expression reprogrammes cells towards a mesenchymal phenotype. A significant STAMBPL1-SNAI1 co-signature was observed across multiple tumour types. Importantly, STAMBPL1 is highly expressed in metastatic tissues compared to matched primary tumour of the same lung cancer patient and its expression predicts poor prognosis. Conclusions Our study provides a novel concept of oncogenic regulation of a DUB and presents a new role and predictive value of STAMBPL1 in the EMT process across multiple carcinomas.

  • On the tradeoff between data density and data capture duration in 3D laser scanning for production system engineering

    • 3D laser scanning is a technology for capture of spatial data in three dimensions. The technology originates from the field of surveying and has since been spread to several other application areas. In the realm of production system engineering, 3D laser scanning is primarily used to verify equipment installation. Lately applications for the 3D scan data are emerging also when it comes to the planning of the installations and the use of the equipment. The motivation for using 3D scan data in the case of planning is primarily to have up-to-date and verified spatial data, including any undocumenter alterations from drawings and models. The process of capturing 3D scan data requires access to an unmovingproduction system which can be costly, either due to stopping produciton or by accessing it during nights or weekends. The more detailed the data collection is, the more time is required. Therefore there is a need to accurately define and plan the minimum data density requirement. This paper evaluates the effect of data density, and thus data collection duration, in a production system application. Data capture duration is shown to impact the usability of the resulting data. To further understand the trade-off and be able to use it as decision support there needs to be an analysis of the additional time and data storage costs created by increasing the number of scan locations.

  • Production system geometry assurance using 3D imaging

    • Production systems evolve to accommodate new and redesigned products. These changes are planned offline in virtual tools, to reduce disturbances on ongoing production. Offline planning requires virtual models that correctly represent reality. Most models are "as-designed" and suffer from geometrical errors stemming from deployment alterations. Such errors are often discovered late in the next change process or during installation, making corrections expensive. Having geometry assured production systems and models eliminate one source of error during the production system change process. This paper evaluates 3D imaging and the C2M (cloud-to-mesh) algorithm for assessing the validity of virtual production system models.
