  • A model for software rework reduction through a combination of anomaly metrics
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Journal of Systems and Software. - : Elsevier. - 0164-1212 .- 1873-1228. ; 81:11, s. 1968-1982
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Analysis of anomalies reported during testing of a project can tell a lot about how well the processes and products work. Still, organizations rarely use anomaly reports for more than progress tracking although projects commonly spend a significant part of the development time on finding and correcting faults. This paper presents an anomaly metrics model that organizations can use for identifying improvements in the development process, i.e. to reduce the cost and lead-time spent on rework-related activities and to improve the quality of the delivered product. The model is the result of a four year research project performed at Ericsson. © 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

  • Determining the Improvement Potential of a Software Development Organization through Fault Analysis : A Method and a Case Study
  • 2004
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Successful software process improvement depends on the ability to analyze past projects and determine which parts of the process that could become more efficient. One typical data source is the faults that are reported during product development. From an industrial need, this paper provides a solution based on a measure called faults-slip-through, i.e. the measure tells which faults that should have been found in earlier phases. From the measure, the improvement potential of different parts of the development process is estimated by calculating the cost of the faults that slipped through the phase where they should have been found. The usefulness of the method was demonstrated by applying it on two completed development projects at Ericsson AB. The results show that the implementation phase had the largest improvement potential since it caused the largest faults-slip-through cost to later phases, i.e. 81 and 84 percent of the total improvement potential in the two studied projects.

  • Psychosocial stress and health problems : Health in Sweden: The National Public Health Report 2012. Chapter 6
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health. - : SAGE Publications. - 1403-4948 .- 1651-1905. ; 40:9, s. 121-134
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Stress can be defined as an imbalance between demands placed on us and our ability to manage them. The body’s stress system is adapted to confront sudden physical threats. Today, however, we are increasingly exposed to prolonged mental and psychosocial stress. Prolonged stress can give rise to a range of problems: poor performance, chronic fatigue, disinterest, dejection, memory disturbances, sleep problems, numbness and diffuse muscle pains. These symptoms may eventually be followed by depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic fatigue syndrome, and ultimately chronic pain conditions, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Sleep is a vital counterbalance to stress as it enables the body to recover properly. Good sleep is thus essential to our ability to cope with stress and stay healthy. The decline in the mental wellbeing of the population since the 1980s has been accompanied by a rise in the number of pain complaints. A similar development in respect of symptoms such as anxiousness, nervousness and anxiety, constant fatigue and neck and shoulder pain and sleeping problems has been observed in the population. This increase, which continued throughout the 1990s and culminated in 2001, was followed by a slight fall. However, there was no decline among young people in the early 2000s. Rather, the number of complaints continued to increase.Since the mid-1990s, the proportion of people suffering from stress symptoms has risen and fallen in step with employment levels. Since the beginning of the 1980s, growing numbers of people in gainful employment have experienced their work as hectic and mentally taxing. This may indicate that the balance between healthy and unhealthy factors impacting the actively employed has tilted towards less favourable conditions. Mental stress at work has increased among women and men, particularly among county council employees. Repeated organisational restructuring may explain why hectic and mentally taxing work has become more commonplace. Mental ill-health along with musculoskeletal disorders are the most frequent diagnoses in connection with newly granted disability pensions. Sickness absence trends largely reflect the trend in stress symptoms.

  • Hyperfine structure and isotope shift of highly excited barium-I states
  • 1982
  • Ingår i: Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 0939-7922. ; 306:4, s. 281-284
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-resolution laser-spectroscopy measurements of hyperfine structure and isotope shifts were performed for the 6snd 1 D 2 sequence of Ba-I in the regionn=12–24. Stepwise laser excitations of a collimated atomic beam were used. A strong influence on the hyperfine structure is observed at the perturbation atn=14, caused by interaction with the 5d7d configuration. Whereas the isotope shift for the even isotopes stays essentially constant with increasingn, the odd isotopes exhibit a strong change, indicating hyperfine-induced shifts. Interesting discussions with Prof. E. Matthias in the final stage of this work are gratefully acknowledged. This work was supported by the Swedish Natural Science Research Council.

  • The prevalence of Connexin 26 mutations in the Swedish population
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Audiological Medicine. - : Informa Healthcare. - 1651-386X .- 1651-3835. ; 3:3, s. 154-158
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Mutations in GJB2, the gene encoding the protein Connexin 26, have been shown to account for as much as 50% of autosomal recessive, non-syndromic childhood hearing loss (ARNSHL). Early, correct diagnosis and intervention have greatly improved the possibilities for these children in learning and developing language skills. In recent years, many reports from varied parts of the world have described the local scene of mutations in Connexin 26. The prevalence differs with geographic location and assessment procedures. Mutations in Connexin 26 have until recently been identified in very few cases in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and nationwide population samples have not been studied in the Scandinavian countries. In this study we present the results of a large nationwide and a regional study of the prevalence of the 35delG, L90P and 167delT mutations of the GJB2 gene in Sweden. A total of 2052 samples (dried blood spots) were analysed. 1501 samples were collected representing all of Sweden and 551 samples from northern Sweden. The allele frequencies in Sweden were found to be 35delG, 0.83%; L90P, 0.30%; and 167delT, 0%. The prevalence of mutations in Connexin 26 in Sweden seems to be comparable to that in other northern European countries.
