  • Arbete pågår : - i tankens mönster och kroppens miljöer
  • 2008
  • Samlingsverk (redaktörskap) (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Work is always in progress, somewhere, in some form. In a historical perspective the view of work has changed, as have the contexts where work takes place. Still there are strongly rooted images of what work is – in the patterns of thought and material conditions. This book embarks from the idea that work is something both immaterial and material. It discusses work as a conception and cultural norm, but also as something very tangible and concrete.Researchers from an array of scientific fields have gathered together around these questions. The idea has been to twist and turn the conceptions of what work is and – embarking from one’s own discipline – to contribute new perspectives to this topic.

  • Clinical assessment of breast symmetry and aesthetic outcome : Can 3D imaging be the gold standard?
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery. - 2000-656X .- 2000-6764. ; 57:1-6, s. 145-152
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There is a lack of an accurate standardised objective method to assess aesthetic outcome after breast surgery. In this methodological study, we investigated the intra- and inter-observer reproducibility of breast symmetry and volume assessed using three-dimensional surface imaging (3D-SI), evaluated the reproducibility depending on imaging posture, and proposed a new combined volume-shape-symmetry (VSS) parameter. Images were acquired using the VECTRA XT 3D imaging system, and analysed by two observers using VECTRA Analysis Module. Breast symmetry was measured through the root mean square distance. All women had undergone bilateral risk-reducing mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction. The reproducibility and correlations of breast symmetry and volume measurements were compared using Bland-Altman's plots and tested with Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. 3D surface images of 58 women were analysed (348 symmetry measurements, 696 volume measurements). The intra-observer reproducibility of breast symmetry measurements was substantial-excellent, the inter-observer reproducibility was substantial, and the inter-posture reproducibility was substantial. For measurements of breast volumes, the intra-observer reproducibility was excellent, the inter-observer reproducibility was moderate-substantial, and the inter-posture reproducibility was substantial-excellent. The intra-observer reproducibility of VSSVSS was excellent while the inter-observer reproducibility was substantial for both observers, independent of posture. There were no statistically strong correlations between breast symmetry and volume differences. The intra-observer reproducibility was found to be substantial-excellent for several 3D-SI measurements independent of imaging posture. However, the inter-observer reproducibility was lower than the intra-observer reproducibility, indicating that 3D-SI in its present form is not a great assessment for symmetry.

  • Patient-reported outcomes and 3-dimensional surface imaging after risk-reducing mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery - Global Open. - 2169-7574. ; 9:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The cosmetic results after risk-reducing mastectomy (RRM) and immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) are intended to be long-lasting. Long-term follow-up of the cosmetic outcome can be evaluated subjectively by the women themselves through patient-reported outcome measures such as questionnaires, or by using data from three-dimensional surface imaging (3D-SI) to calculate the volume, shape, and symmetry of the reconstructed breasts as a more objective cosmetic evaluation. The study aim was to evaluate the correspondence between patient-reported measures and 3D-SI measurements. Methods: Questionnaires (EORTC QLQ-BRECON23 and BIS) were sent to women on average 13 [7-20] years after RRM and IBR. Items were preselected for comparison with 3D measurements of women imaged using the VECTRA XT 3D-imaging system at the long-term follow-up.Results: Questionnaire responses and 3D images of 58 women, 36 without and 22 with previous breast cancer (where 15 also received radiotherapy) before RRM and IBR, were analyzed. Median age at follow-up was 57 [41-73] years. Patient-reported satisfaction with the cosmetic outcome was positive for both groups. 3D measurements indicated more symmetrical cosmetic results for women without previous breast cancer. No statistically significant associations between patient-reported satisfaction and 3D measurements were found. Conclusions: Satisfaction with the long-term cosmetic outcome after RRM and IBR was, in general, positive when evaluated by the women. 3D-SI could be used as a more objective approach to assess the cosmetic outcome in terms of volume and shape-symmetry; however, it does not directly translate to the patient-reported satisfaction.

  • Grundat 1876 : Historia och företagsidentitet inom Ericsson
  • 2006
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This doctoral thesis sets out to analyse the importance of history use in the modern industrial enterprise and its role in creating and transforming corporate identity. Both history use and corporate identity are concerned with creating and using a narrative or a self-image, and these concepts, accordingly, provide the starting point of the study. More specifically, the aim is to analyse how, at various points of time and in various connections, Ericsson, the Swedish telecom conglomerate, has produced and used its history and how that history has been used for creating a corporate identity. The theoretical premises are drawn from two separate fields of research, namely history use and corporate branding. The thesis comprises two parts, the first of which is a comparison over time, showing how history use has changed within the enterprise and focussing mainly on activities at head office/the main factory in Stockholm. The first of these three chapters deals with LM Ericsson’s relocation in 1940 to its newly built factory at Telefonplan in Stockholm, where history was used to show how new the new plant was. The second chapter deals with the LM Ericsson centenary in 1976. The planning and conduct of the centenary celebrations are studied to analyse the purpose of the centenary commemoration, which in this particular instance was very much aimed at strengthening relations with important customer groups. The third chapter covers the period between 2001 and 2004, during which the company celebrated the 125th anniversary of its formation and transferred its head office from Telefonplan to Kista. During this period the company passed through a financial crisis which impacted on the enterprise and on its manner of communication. On all three occasions, history was closely connected to communication and marketing, but the use of history assumed different guises at different times.Part II is devoted to a particular history product, namely anniversary and commemorative publications produced by various subsidiaries and divisions within the group. Here the perspective is broadened to include Ericsson companies both in Sweden and abroad. The publications are analysed in terms of genre and form, function and content. A hypothesis that the books contain a canon or basic narrative proves untenable. Instead what appears is a polyphonic history. The genre is studied both synchronously and diachronically. One diachronic difference is the increased importance of author selection, illustrations and design. One synchronous difference is the prominence of national narratives in the various publications.

  • The Role of History in the Modern Company : Ericsson and the Past
  • 2004
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The overall purpose of the thesis is to discuss the presenceand influence of the commercial use of history in modernindustrial companies and history's role in creating andchanging corporate identity. More specifically the aim is toanalyse the way the Swedish telecom company Ericsson has madeuse of its history at three different occasions.By analysing three cases, the study shows how the companyhas used its history in different ways at different times. Thefirst case study studies the company's move to a new-builtfactory at Telefonplan at the outskirts of Stockholm in 1940.The factory building was a modernistic model factory, and themanagement wanted to implement a new era in the company. Atthis occasion history was used as a contrast to the future. The second case study studies the company's 100 years'anniversary in 1976. Was it a celebration of the past or of thefuture? At this occasion the history came into commercial use.The management of the company invited plenty of guests tocommemorate the company's past but they also used the occasionto show the modern company and its latest products. The third case study studies the years 2001-2004. Duringthis period the company used its history to build a corporateidentity. History was used for corporate branding. In 2001 thecompany had its 125th anniversary, but at the same time thecompany experienced a serious economical decline. In 2003 itleft its modernistic factory at Telefonplan and moved to Kista.During this period history was treated more and morelike amythology, and was moulded to fit the company's needs. The study also shows how the board room from the oldestfactory building was treated in different ways at the differentoccasions, and how it finally ended up at the National Museumof Science and Technology in Stockholm.Key words:industrial history, history of technology, cultural history, use of history, business history, corporateidentity, factory buildings, modernism, telecommunication,Ericsson, Telefonplan (Midsommarkransen), Kista, Stockholm,National Museum of Science and Technology, Sweden, 20thcentury.
