  • Association of Long-Term Body Weight Variability With Dementia : A Prospective Study
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: The journals of gerontology. Series A, Biological sciences and medical sciences. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 1079-5006 .- 1758-535X. ; 77:10, s. 2116-2122
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Body weight variability (BWV) refers to intraindividual weight loss and gain over a period. The association of long-term BWV with dementia remains unclear and whether this association is beyond body weight change is undetermined. Methods: In the Health and Retirement Study, a total of 5 547 dementia-free participants (56.7% women; mean [SD] age, 71.1 [3.2] years) at baseline (2008) were followed up to 8 years (mean = 6.8 years) to detect incident dementia. Body weight was self-reported biennially from 1992 to 2008. BWV was measured as the coefficient of variation utilizing the body weight reported 9 times across 16 years before baseline. Cox-proportional hazard model was used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI).Results: Among the 5 547 participants, a total of 427 incident dementia cases were identified during follow-up. Greater long-term BWV was significantly associated with a higher risk of dementia (HR comparing extreme quartiles: 2.01, 95% CI: 1.48-2.72; HR of each SD increment: 1.21, 95% CI: 1.10-1.32; p-trend < .001) independent of mean body weight and body weight change. This significant association was even observed for BWV estimated approximately 15 years preceding dementia diagnosis (HR of each SD increment: 1.13, 95% CI: 1.03-1.23) and was more pronounced for that closer to diagnosis. Conclusion: Our prospective study suggested that greater BWV may be a novel risk factor for dementia.

  • Observation of a Ubiquitous (π, π)-Type Nematic Superconducting Order in the Whole Superconducting Dome of Ultra-Thin BaFe2–xNixAs2 Single Crystals
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Chinese Physics Letters. - : Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP). - 0256-307X .- 1741-3540. ; 38:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In iron-based superconductors, the (0, pi) or (pi, 0) nematicity, which describes an electronic anisotropy with a four-fold symmetry breaking, is well established and believed to be important for understanding the superconducting mechanism. However, how exactly such a nematic order observed in the normal state can be related to the superconducting pairing is still elusive. Here, by performing angular-dependent in-plane magnetoresistivity using ultra-thin flakes in the steep superconducting transition region, we unveil a nematic superconducting order along the (pi, pi) direction in electron-doped BaFe2 - x Ni x As2 from under-doped to heavily overdoped regimes with x = 0.065-0.18. It shows superconducting gap maxima along the (pi, pi) direction rotated by 45 degrees from the nematicity along (0, pi) or (pi, 0) direction observed in the normal state. A similar (pi, pi)-type nematicity is also observed in the under-doped and optimally doped hole-type Ba1 - y K y Fe2As2, with y = 0.2-0.5. These results suggest that the (pi, pi) nematic superconducting order is a universal feature that needs to be taken into account in the superconducting pairing mechanism in iron-based superconductors.

  • Probiotic Gastrointestinal Transit and Colonization After Oral Administration : A Long Journey
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology. - : Frontiers Media S.A.. - 2235-2988. ; 11
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Orally administered probiotics encounter various challenges on their journey through the mouth, stomach, intestine and colon. The health benefits of probiotics are diminished mainly due to the substantial reduction of viable probiotic bacteria under the harsh conditions in the gastrointestinal tract and the colonization resistance caused by commensal bacteria. In this review, we illustrate the factors affecting probiotic viability and their mucoadhesive properties through their journey in the gastrointestinal tract, including a discussion on various mucosadhesion-related proteins on the probiotic cell surface which facilitate colonization.

  • n-Doping of photoactive layer in binary organic solar cells realizes over 18.3% efficiency
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Nano Energy. - : ELSEVIER. - 2211-2855 .- 2211-3282. ; 96
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Electronic doping of conjugated semiconductor plays a critical role in the fabrication of high efficiency organic optoelectronic devices. Here, we report an organic solar cell (OSC) by doping n-type DMBI-BDZC into one host binary bulk heterojunction (BHJ) photoactive layer comprised of a polymer donor PM6 and a nonfullerene acceptor Y6. The resulting champion device yields a significantly improved power conversion efficiency from 17.17% to 18.33% with an impressive fill factor of 80.20%. It is found that the electrically doped photoactive layer exhibits enhanced and balanced charge carrier mobilities, more effective exciton dissociation, longer carrier lifetime, and suppressed charge recombination with smaller energy loss. The dopant molecule DMBIBDZC also act as a surface morphology modifier of the photoactive layer with enhanced charge transport. This work demonstrates that manipulation of charge transport via adding a low concentration dopant into photoactive layer is a promising approach for further improvement of BHJ OSC performance.

  • New Strategy for Black Phosphorus Crystal Growth through Ternary Clathrate
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Crystal Growth & Design. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1528-7505 .- 1528-7483. ; 17:12, s. 6579-6585
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We are reporting a new synthetic strategy to grow large-sized black phosphorus (Black-P) crystals through a ternary clathrate Sn24P22-xI8, under lower synthetic temperature and pressure. The Black-P crystals are found grown in situ at the site where the solid clathrate originally resides, which suggests chemical vapor mineralizer does not play a critical role for the Black-P formation. More detailed systematical studies have indicated the P vacancies in the framework of the ternary clathrate Sn24P22-xI8 are important for the subsequent Black-P from phosphorus vapors, and a likely vapor solid solid model is responsible for the Black-P crystal growth. The obtained room temperature mobility mu is similar to 350 cm(2)/V.s from Hall measurements at mechanically cleaved flakes, where noticeable microcracks are visible. The obtained high mobility value further suggests the high quality of the Black-P crystals synthesized through this route.

  • Nitrogen-Doped MoS2/Ti3C2TX Heterostructures as Ultra-Efficient Alkaline HER Electrocatalysts
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Inorganic Chemistry. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0020-1669 .- 1520-510X. ; 60:13, s. 9932-9940
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is intrinsically inert for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline media due to its electronic structures. Herein, we tune the electronic structures of MoS2 by a combined strategy of post-N doping coupled with the synergistic effect of Ti3C2TX. The as-prepared N-doped MoS2/Ti3C2TX heterostructures show remarkable alkaline HER activity with an over-potential of 225 mV at 140 mA cm(-2), which ranks the N-doped MoS2/Ti3C2TX heterostructures among the best MoS2/MXene-based electrocatalysts reported for alkaline HER. The first-principles calculations indicate that the N doping can enhance the activation of nearby S sites of MoS2/Ti3C2TX and thus promote the HER process. This strategy provides a promising way to develop high-efficiency MoS2/MXene heterostructure catalysts for alkaline HER.

  • Federated Neural Architecture Search for Medical Data Security
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 1551-3203 .- 1941-0050. ; 18:8, s. 5628-5636
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Medical data widely exist in the hospital and personal life, usually across institutions and regions. They have essential diagnostic value and therapeutic significance. The disclosure of patient information causes people's panic, therefore, medical data security solution is very crucial for intelligent health care. The emergence of federated learning (FL) provides an effective solution, which only transmits model parameters, breaking through the bottleneck of medical data sharing, protecting data security, and avoiding economic losses. Meanwhile, the neural architecture search (NAS) has become a popular method to automatically search the optimal neural architecture for solving complex practical problems. However, few papers have combined the FL and NAS for simultaneous privacy protection and model architecture selection. Convolutional neural network (CNN) has outstanding performance in the image recognition field. Combining CNN and fuzzy rough sets can effectively improve the interpretability of deep neural networks. This article aims to develop a multiobjective convolutional interval type-2 fuzzy rough FL model based on NAS (CIT2FR-FL-NAS) for medical data security with an improved multiobjective evolutionary algorithm. We test the proposed framework on the LC25000 lung and colon histopathological image dataset. Experimental verification demonstrates that the designed multiobjective CIT2FR-FL-NAS framework can achieve high accuracy superior to state-of-the-art models and reduce network complexity under the condition of protecting medical data security.

  • Challenges and development of composite solid-state electrolytes for high-performance lithium ion batteries
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Journal of Power Sources. - : Elsevier. - 0378-7753 .- 1873-2755. ; 441
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The safety concerns and the pursuit of high energy density have stimulated the development of high-performance solid-state lithium ion batteries. Therefore, the key component in solid-state lithium batteries, i.e. the solid-state electrolytes, also has attracted tremendous attention due to its non-flammability and good adaptability to high-voltage cathodes/lithium metal anodes. An in-depth understanding of the existing problems of solid-state electrolytes and proposed strategies for addressing these problems is crucial for the efficient design of high-performance solid-state electrolytes. In this review, we systematically summarized the current limitations of composite solid-state electrolytes and efforts to overcome them, and gave some proposals for the future perspectives of solid-state electrolytes with the aim to provide practical guidance for the researchers in this area.

  • Ultraviolet-cured polyethylene oxide-based composite electrolyte enabling stable cycling of lithium battery at low temperature
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Colloid and Interface Science. - : Elsevier. - 0021-9797 .- 1095-7103. ; 596, s. 257-266
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The room and low-temperature performances of solid-state lithium batteries are crucial to expand their practical application. Polyethylene oxide (PEO) has received great attention as the most representative polymer electrolyte matrix. However, most PEO-based solid-state batteries need to operate at high temperature due to low room temperature ionic conductivity. Improving the ionic conductivity by adding plasticizers or reducing the crystallinity of PEO often compromises its mechanical strength. Here, an amorphous PEO-based composite solid-state electrolyte is obtained by ultraviolet (UV) polymerizing PEO and methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxy silane (KH570)-modified SiO2 which demonstrates both satisfactory mechanical performance and high ionic conductivity at room (3.37 x 10(-4) S cm(-1)) and low temperatures (1.73 x 10(-4) S cm(-1) at 0 degrees C). In this electrolyte, the crystallinity of PEO is reduced through cross-linking, and therefore provides a fast Li+ ions transfer area. Moreover, the KH570-modified SiO2 inorganic particles promote the dissociation of lithium salts by Lewis acid centers to increase the ionic conductivity. Importantly, this kind of cross-linking networks endows the final electrolyte much higher mechanical strength than the pure PEO polymer electrolyte or PEO-inorganic filler blended systems. The solid-state LiFePO4/Li cell assembled with this electrolyte exhibits excellent cycling performance and high capacity at room and low temperatures.

  • Measuring Geospatial Properties : Relating Online Content Browsing Behaviors to Users’ Points of Interest
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Wireless personal communications. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0929-6212 .- 1572-834X. ; 101:3, s. 1469-1498
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With the growth of the Mobile Internet, people have become active in both the online and offline worlds. Investigating the relationships between users’ online and offline behaviors is critical for personalization and content caching, as well as improving urban planning. Although some studies have measured the spatial properties of online social relationships, there have been few in-depth investigations of the relationships between users’ online content browsing behaviors and their real-life locations. This paper provides the first insight into the geospatial properties of online content browsing behaviors from the perspectives of both geographical regions and individual users. We first analyze the online browsing patterns across geographical regions. Then, a multilayer-network-based model is presented to discover how inter-user distances affect the distributions of users with similar online browsing interests. Drawing upon results from a comprehensive study of users of three popular online content services in a metropolitan city in China, we achieve a broad understanding of the general and specific geospatial properties of users’ various preferences. Specifically, users with similar online browsing interests exhibit, to a large extent, strong geographic correlations, and different services exhibit distinct geospatial properties in terms of their usage patterns. The results of this work can potentially be exploited to improve a vast number of applications.
