  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • After a general introduction of the VIKING EU FP7 project two specific cyber-attack mechanisms, which have been analyzed in the VIKING project, will be discussed in more detail. Firstly an attack and its consequences on the Automatic Generation Control (AGC) in a power system are investigated, and secondly the cyber security of State Estimators in SCADA systems is scrutinized.

  • 2005
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Control. - : LAVOISIER. - 0947-3580 .- 1435-5671. ; 11:4-5, s. 478-508
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Hybrid systems that involve the interaction of continuous and discrete dynamics have been an active area of research for a number of years. In this paper, we start by briefly surveying the main theoretical control problems that have been treated in the hybrid systems setting and classify them into stabilization, optimal control and language specification problems. We then provide an overview of recent developments in four of the most prominent areas where these hybrid control methods have found application: control of power systems, industrial process control, design of automotive electronics and communication networks.

  • Toward Optimal Control of Switched Linear Systems
  • 2000
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We investigate the problem of driving the state of a switched linear control system between boundary states. We propose tight lower bounds for the minimum energy control problem. Furthermore, we show that the change of the system dynamics across the switching surface gives rise to phenomena that can be treated as a decidability problem of hybrid systems. Applying earlier results on controller synthesis for hybrid systems with linear continuous dynamics, we provide an algorithm for computing the minimum number of switchings of a trajectory from one state to another, and show that this algorithm is computable for a fairly wide class of linear switched systems

  • On the regularization of Zeno hybrid automata
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Systems & control letters (Print). - : Elsevier. - 0167-6911 .- 1872-7956. ; 38:3, s. 141-150
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fundamental properties of hybrid automata, such as existence and uniqueness of executions, are studied. Particular attention is devoted to Zeno hybrid automata, which are hybrid automata that take infinitely many discrete transitions in finite time. It is shown that regularization techniques can be used to extend the Zeno executions of these automata to times beyond the Zeno time. Different types of regularization may, however, lead to different extensions. A water tank control problem and a bouncing ball system are used to illustrate the results.

  • Simulation of Zeno hybrid automata
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 38th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1999. - : IEEE. - 0780352505 ; , s. 3538-3543
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Zeno hybrid automata are hybrid systems that can exhibit infinitely many discrete transitions in a finite time interval. Such automata arise due to modeling simplifications and may deteriorate simulation efficiency and accuracy considerably. Some basic properties of Zeno hybrid automata are explored. Possible ways to extend a simulation beyond the Zeno time are suggested

  • Structural stability of hybrid systems1
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: 2001 European Control Conference, ECC 2001. - : IEEE conference proceedings. - 9783952417362 ; , s. 3858-3863
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study hybrid systems from a global geometric perspective as piecewise smooth dynamical systems. Based on an earlier work, we define the notion of the hybrifold as a single piece-wise smooth state space reflecting the dynamics of the original system. Structural stability for hybrid systems is introduced and analyzed in this framework. In particular, it is shown that a Zeno state is locally structurally stable and that a standard equilibrium on the boundary of a domain implies structural instability.
