  • New Isomers in the Full Seniority Scheme of Neutron-rich Lead Isotopes: The Role of Effective Three-body Forces
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 1079-7114. ; 109:16
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The neutron-rich lead isotopes, up to Pb-216, have been studied for the first time, exploiting the fragmentation of a primary uranium beam at the FRS-RISING setup at GSI. The observed isomeric states exhibit electromagnetic transition strengths which deviate from state-of-the-art shell-model calculations. It is shown that their complete description demands the introduction of effective three-body interactions and two-body transition operators in the conventional neutron valence space beyond Pb-208.

  • New spectroscopic information on 211,213Tl : A changing structure beyond the N=126 shell closure
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. - 2469-9985. ; 99:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The neutron-rich isotopes 211,213Tl, beyond the N=126 shell closure, have been studied for the first time in isomer γ-ray decay, exploiting the fragmentation of a primary uranium beam at the Fragment Separator-Rare Isotopes Investigation at GSI setup. The observed isomeric states in 211,213Tl show a deviation from the seniority-like scheme of 209Tl. The possible interpretation of the data is discussed on the basis of energy-level systematics and shell-model calculations.

  • Intrinsic energy band alignment of functional oxides
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Physica Status Solidi - Rapid Research Letetrs. - : Wiley. - 1862-6254 .- 1862-6270. ; 8:6, s. 571-576
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The energy band alignment at interfaces between different materials is a key factor, which determines the function of electronic devices. While the energy band alignment of conventional semiconductors is quite well understood, systematic experimental studies on oxides are still missing. This work presents an extensive study on the intrinsic energy band alignment of a wide range of functional oxides using photoelectron spectroscopy with in-situ sample preparation. The studied materials have particular technological importance in diverse fields as solar cells, piezotronics, multiferroics, photoelectrochemistry and oxide electronics. Particular efforts have been made to verify the validity of transitivity, in order to confirm the intrinsic nature of the obtained band alignment and to understand the underlying principles. Valence band offsets up to 1.6 eV are observed. The large variation of valence band maximum energy can be explained by the different orbital contributions to the density of states in the valence band. The framework provided by this work enables the general understanding and prediction of energy band alignment at oxide interfaces, and furthermore the tailoring of energy level matching for charge transfer in functional oxides. • Oblately deformed isomeric proton-emitting state in Lu-151
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 91:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gamma rays from excited states feeding a proton-emitting isomeric-state in Lu-151 have been observed for the first time. Comparison with state-of-the-art nonadiabatic quasiparticle calculations indicates an oblately deformed, 3/2(+) proton-emitting state with a quadrupole deformation of beta(2) = -0.11. The calculations suggest an increase in quadrupole deformation, to beta(2) = -0.18, with increasing spin which is understood in terms of the mixing of Nilsson states at the Fermi surface. It is also shown that the proton decay half-life is consistent with that from a 3/2(+) state with a quadrupole deformation of beta(2) = -0.12.

  • Lifetime Measurements of the Neutron-Rich N=30 Isotones Ca-50 and Sc-51: Orbital Dependence of Effective Charges in the fp Shell
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 1079-7114. ; 102:24
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The lifetimes of the first excited states of the N=30 isotones Ca-50 and Sc-51 have been determined using the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift method in combination with the CLARA-PRISMA spectrometers. This is the first time such a method is applied to measure lifetimes of neutron-rich nuclei populated via a multinucleon transfer reaction. This extends the lifetime knowledge beyond the f(7/2) shell closure and allows us to derive the effective proton and neutron charges in the fp shell near the doubly magic nucleus Ca-48, using large-scale, shell-model calculations. These results indicate an orbital dependence of the core polarization along the fp shell.
