  • The Genome Sequence of Taurine Cattle : A Window to Ruminant Biology and Evolution
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Science. - : American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). - 0036-8075 .- 1095-9203. ; 324:5926, s. 522-528
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To understand the biology and evolution of ruminants, the cattle genome was sequenced to about sevenfold coverage. The cattle genome contains a minimum of 22,000 genes, with a core set of 14,345 orthologs shared among seven mammalian species of which 1217 are absent or undetected in noneutherian (marsupial or monotreme) genomes. Cattle-specific evolutionary breakpoint regions in chromosomes have a higher density of segmental duplications, enrichment of repetitive elements, and species-specific variations in genes associated with lactation and immune responsiveness. Genes involved in metabolism are generally highly conserved, although five metabolic genes are deleted or extensively diverged from their human orthologs. The cattle genome sequence thus provides a resource for understanding mammalian evolution and accelerating livestock genetic improvement for milk and meat production.

  • X-ray diffractive imaging of highly ionized helium nanodroplets
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Research. - 2643-1564. ; 4:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Finding the lowest energy configuration of N unit charges on a sphere, known as Thomson's problem, is a long-standing query which has only been studied via numerical simulations. We present its physical realization using multiply charged He nanodroplets. The charge positions are determined by x-ray coherent diffractive imaging with Xe as a contrast agent. In neutral droplets, filaments resulting from Xe atoms condensing on quantum vortices are observed. Unique to charged droplets, however, Xe clusters that condense on charges are distributed on the surface in lattice-like structures, introducing He droplets as experimental model systems for the study of Thomson's problem.

  • Nuclear and magnetic spin structure of the antiferromagnetic triangular lattice compound LiCrTe2 investigated by µ+SR, neutron and X-ray diffraction
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Two−dimensional (2D) triangular lattices antiferromagnets (2D−TLA) often manifest intriguing physical and technological properties, due to the strong interplay between lattice geometry and electronic properties. The recently synthesized 2−dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide LiCrTe2, being a 2D−TLA, enriched the range of materials which can present such properties. In this work, muon spin rotation (μ+SR) and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) have been utilized to reveal the true magnetic nature and ground state of LiCrTe2. From high−resolution NPD the magnetic spin order at base−temperature is not, as previously suggested, helical, but rather collinear antiferromagnetic (AFM) with ferromagnetic (FM) spin coupling within the ab−plane and AFM coupling along the c−axis. The ordered magnetic Cr moment is established as μCr= 2.36 μB. From detailed μ+SR measurements we observe an AFM ordering temperature TN≈ 125 K. This value is remarkably higher than the one previously reported by magnetic bulk measurements. From μ+SR we are able to extract the magnetic order parameter, whose critical exponent allows us to categorize LiCrTe2 in the 3D Heisenberg AFM universality class. Finally, by combining our magnetic studies with high−resolution synchrotron X−ray diffraction (XRD), we find a clear coupling between the nuclear and magnetic spin lattices. This suggests the possibility for a strong magnon−phonon coupling, similar to what has been previously observed in the closely related compound LiCrO2.

  • Questionnaires used to assess barriers of clinical guideline use among physicians are not comprehensive, reliable, or valid: a scoping review
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Clinical Epidemiology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0895-4356 .- 1878-5921. ; 86, s. 25-38
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective This study described the number and characteristics of questionnaires used to assess barriers of guideline use among physicians. Study Design and Setting A scoping review was conducted. MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched from 2005 to June 2016. English-language studies that administered a questionnaire to assess barriers of guideline use among practicing physicians were eligible. Summary statistics were used to report study and questionnaire characteristics. Questionnaire content was assessed with a checklist of 57 known barriers. Results Each of the 178 included studies administered a unique questionnaire. The number of questionnaires increased yearly from 2005 to 2015. Few were pilot-tested (50, 28.1%) or tested for psychometric properties (3, 1.7%). Two were based on theory. None probed for the full range of known barriers. Ten included a free-text option. The majority assessed professional barriers (177, 99.4%) but few of the 14 factors within this domain. Questionnaire characteristics did not change over time. Conclusion Organizations administered questionnaires that were not reliable or valid and did not comprehensively assess barriers and may have selected interventions unlikely to promote guideline use. Research is needed to construct a questionnaire that is practical, adaptable, and robust and leads to the selection of interventions that support guideline use.
