• Change management : Blended learning adoption in a large network of European universities
• 2018
• Ingår i: Proceedings of the International Conference on e-Learning, ICEL. - : Academic Conferences Limited. - 9781911218906 ; , s. 77-83
• Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
• We report in this paper on a multiyear endeavour within the EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) Digital community, during which EIT Digital built an international community of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (“I&E”) teachers at Master level by implementing a blended learning strategy. We see this challenge as a case in change management, which could offer relevant insight to run similar initiatives of blending learning adoption as an enabler to developing pedagogical cooperation in networks of universities with real impact on practices. Through the lenses of change management theory, we describe and analyse the methods that allowed EIT Digital to create and enhance a community of “teacher-producers” in order to develop and deploy blended education from scratch. EIT Digital, a Knowledge and Innovation Community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), provides IT education at Master’s level since 2013 and in association with its around 20 member universities, including a strong “Innovation & Entrepreneurship” (“I&E”) education component. EIT Digital developed a blended learning strategy whose originality came from the fact that some of the teachers are also producers on behalf of the entire community, receiving associated co-funding and technical support from EIT Digital. More specifically, teachers actively took part to the production agenda, according to which producers were chosen within the community to create and deliver the agreed online contents. EIT Digital library now encompasses more than 500 basic online contents (“nuggets”) covering most topics relevant for I&E education at the graduate level, from basic business model introductions to complex technology transfer strategies. This amounts to more than 45 hours’ worth of videos along with dozens of written cases, quizzes and other forms of online/offline assignments. Depending on the various universities’ contexts, different blending strategies were deployed, which had practical consequences on the global EIT Digital development. The heterogeneity of the universities’ profiles probably significantly increased the value of the EIT Digital network which proved relevant with regards to blended learning adoption, while EIT Digital’s change management strategy contributed significantly to uplifting the I&E education offered at the member universities, notably giving momentum to its I&E teacher community.

• Insects associated with fruit bodies of the wood-decaying fungus Oak mazegill (Daedalea quercina) in mixed oak forests in southern Sweden
• 2012
• Ingår i: Entomologisk Tidskrift. - 0013-886X. ; 133:4, s. 173-181
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Polypores host species rich insect assemblages, but relatively few polypore species have been studied in detail. We investigated insect assemblages associated with the fruit bodies of Daedalea quercina, a specialist species on oak in southern Sweden. Fruit bodies (n = 228) were collected from 25 nature reserves and woodland key habitats, and were taken into the laboratory to collect emerging insects. A total of 245 insect individuals were recorded, belonging to at least 45 species. The numerically dominant fungivores were the tineid moths Montescardia tessulatella (n = 38 individuals) and Nemapogon fungivorellus (n = 10) and the coleopteran Ennearthron cornutum (Ciidae) (n = 44). Altogether 40 individuals of hymenopteran parasitoids were recorded, belonging to Braconidae (Exothecinae, Microgastrinae and Rogadinae, altogether 6 spp.), Ichneumonidae (Banchinae, Cryptinae and Orthocentrinae, altogether 4 spp.), Torymidae (1 sp.), Perilampidae (1 sp.) and Scelionidae (1 sp.). Most of the remaining insect species are not specifically associated with fruit bodies, but occupy many types of decaying material. In conclusion, D. quercina hosted a low number of insect individuals in general and only a few coleopteran species. The fungus apparently has only one specialist species, N. fungivorellus, which is a near-threatened (NT) species on the Swedish red list; the record from Norra Vi is the first from the Jönköping. The overall low number of insect individuals and the dominance of Lepidoptera among the fungivores is possibly explained by the tough fruit bodies of D. quercina, which only moths are able to utilize; fruit bodies which had already started to rot were devoid of moths.

• Risk of metabolic bone disease is increased both during and after weaning off parenteral nutrition in pediatric intestinal failure
• 2013
• Ingår i: Hormone research in paediatrics. - : S. Karger AG. - 1663-2826 .- 1663-2818. ; 79:4, s. 227-235
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Aim: To assess bone health in pediatric intestinal failure (IF). Methods: A population-based cohort of 41 IF patients (age 9.9 years) underwent evaluation of bone mineral density (BMD), bone biochemistry, nutritional status and growth. Eleven patients remained on parenteral nutrition (PN) after 69 months. Thirty had weaned off PN 9.0 years earlier (mean), i.e. after 30 months on PN. Results: The majority of patients had lumbar spine or femoral BMD Z-score ≤-1.0 (70%), vitamin D deficiency (serum 25-hydroxyvitamin-D, S-25-OHD, <50 nmol/l, 41%) or secondary hyperparathyroidism (plasma parathyroid hormone >47 ng/l, 44%), equally during and after weaning off PN. Hyperparathyroidism was absent when S-25-OHD was >80 nmol/l. Until puberty, height (-1.4 to -0.8, age 1-12) and weight Z-scores (-1.3 to -0.5, age 1-16) were below the normal mean (p < 0.05). Small bowel length associated with S-25-OHD levels (r = 0.489, p = 0.013). In a multivariate model, time after weaning off PN (β = -0.597, p = 0.001), duration of PN (β = -0.466, p = 0.006) and calcium intake (β = -0.331, p = 0.035) predicted decreased lumbar spine BMD. Conclusions: In pediatric IF, vitamin D insufficiency, secondary hyperparathyroidism and decreased BMD are common. BMD, vitamin D, calcium and nutritional status should be closely monitored during and after weaning off PN to ensure sufficient vitamin D and mineral substitution for normal growth and bone mass attainment.
