- Abstract L1 speech production is often interrupted by hesitations revealed through a variety of phenomena ranging from silent pauses to comments. Most of these interruptions are caused by the action of a control system, a “monitor“, which checks our speech internally while it is produced or after the production has reached the articulatory level. Speech production is checked against an internal model of lexical and grammatical correctness. If the demands of the monitor are not met, a repair may take place so that the speaker’s production reaches the expected level of correctness. It would seem that the result of constant interruptions, followed by repairs, would bring disorder into our speech but, in most cases, the listener is not disturbed by these interruptions, since his perception system brings order and re-establishes the linearity of the propositional content. The speech of L2 learners is controlled during and after production. Even if the monitor follows the same pattern of work when controlling L2 production, the repair is not necessarily done in a similar way because the learner’s internal grammar and lexicon are not complete and cannot be consulted as quickly as L1 lexicon and grammar. L2 learners rely on a certain amount of acquired knowledge but they also need to be given the time to refer to learned rules and patterns because the retrieval of these has not yet been automaticized. As teachers, we often resent hesitations as disturbing and as an indication of the learner’s incapacity to produce correct speech. In this study, we observe the L2 speech production of learners of French and their behaviour when meeting linguistic problems. The study is concentrated on repetitions and recasts produced when the learner hesitates and shows signs of an effort to retrieve learned knowledge. These repetitions and recasts are presented as different hypotheses put forward by the learner in his/her attempts to reach a solution to a linguistic problem. They show the L2 speech production as a step-by-step process. The focus here is on repetitions and recasts in connection with French -ment-adverbs.

- Det här är en rapport av projektet Granskning och omarbetning av övningsmaterial för språkfärdighetsträning på Franska A och Tyska A ur ett genusperspektiv. Rapporten innehåller en granskning av grammatiska övningar och en diskussion av olika aspekter som kan ses som problematiska utifrån ett genusperspektiv: sexuellt innehåll, patriarkaliska strukturer, könsstereotyper, statistisk snedfördelning mellan kvinnor och män. Rapporten är gemensamt författad av fyra medarbetare vid Institutionen för moderna språk. Carina Andersson och Ulf Norberg har utfört undersökningarna och genomfört enkäten för det franska och tyska materialet. Bo Andersson har lagt grunder för den teoretiska och metodiska diskussionen kring genusperspektivet. Coco Norén har, förutom att initiera och samordna projektet, ansvarat för det redaktionella arbetet.

- The linguistic polyphony is an inherent aspect of the nominal terms of address, which contain the instruction of identifying the addressee. However, in order to understand their argumentative function, it is necessary to include the discursive level. In this sense, the linguistic polyphony combines with the dialogism in the analysis of the function of the attested terms of address in the context of the European parliament.

- Le pronom on renferme un paradoxe sémantique. D’une part, on établit la présence d’un ou de plusieurs êtres humains comme le sujet concerné par une situation décrite. D’autre part, l’identification de ce ou ces être(s) humain(s) repose sur toute la complexité des indications contextuelles, des connaissances communes et des idées préconçues des locuteurs. Cette tension entre intension et extension, qui n’arrête pas d’intriguer les chercheurs en linguistique française, est abordée ici de plusieurs manières différentes. Ainsi le fonctionnement de on est étudié dans trois genres différents (fiction romanesque, article scientifique, conversation spontanée) et de trois perspectives théoriques (textuelle, polyphonique et contrastive).

- Depuis quelques années, la question des genres de discours – après celle des genres ou types de textes – est devenue une question linguistique qui préoccupe même les grammairiens. Cette question avait d’abord été posée dans le champ de la poétique et de la rhétorique (Aristote), mais après avoir été essentiellement un problème de théorie littéraire, elle est, au milieu des années 1970, devenue centrale dans l’analyse de discours.Après avoir dressé un rapide état des lieux des recherches anglo-saxonnes et francophones, cette conférence reviendra sur les travaux que je mène depuis 1997 sur les genres de discours, en dialogue avec les positions d’Ute Heidmann sur la généricité et la reconfiguration générique. Une des constantes de mes travaux a consisté et consiste encore aujourd’hui à déconstruire la tripartition de la recherche qui distingue, dans la tradition de langue allemande, Gattung (les genres littéraires), d’une part, et, d’autre part, les genres non littéraires divisés en Texttypen (types de textes) et Textsorten (genres de textes).Cette première conférence dessinera les grandes lignes d’un cadre théorique et méthodologique de travail ancré dans la linguistique textuelle et l’analyse des discours.
