  • Religiösa organisationer och civilsamhället
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Sociologiska perspektiv på religion i Sverige. - 9789140690432 ; , s. 107-122
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract

  • Sweden in the Delaware Valley: Everyday Life and Material Culture in New Sweden
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Colonialism and the Rise of Modernity: Small Time Agents in a Global Arena. ; , s. 169-187
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In 1637 the Swedish Crown, encouraged by Dutch merchants, developed a plan to establish a colonial outpost in America to tap into profitable tobacco and beaver pelt trade. The same year the first cargo ships left Sweden and sailed westwards to claim their piece of America along the Delaware River. Although in many ways unsuccessful and short-lived (the colony collapsed in 1656), New Sweden became a home for generations of colonists. This chapter focuses on the different aspects of their daily life: their longing and desperation, practices of homemaking and domesticating the landscape, their perception and interactions with the neighbouring Native American groups. It discusses the ways material culture was used, exchanged and appropriated by the colonists and the local Lenape and Susquehannock in the processes of meeting, negotiations and daily coexistence.

  • The Association between Job Strain and Atrial Fibrillation : Results from the Swedish WOLF Study
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: BioMed Research International. - : Hindawi Publishing Corporation. - 2314-6133 .- 2314-6141.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common heart rhythmdisorder. Several life-style factors have been identified as risk factors for AF, but less is known about the impact of work-related stress. This study aims to evaluate the association between work-related stress, defined as job strain, and risk of AF. Methods: Data from the Swedish WOLF study was used, comprising 10,121 working men and women. Job strain was measured by the demand-control model. Information on incident AF was derived from national registers. Cox proportional hazard regression was used to estimate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for the association between job strain and AF risk. Results: In total, 253 incident AF cases were identified during a total follow-up time of 132,387 person-years. Job strain was associated with AF risk in a time-dependent manner, with stronger association after 10.7 years of follow-up (HR 1.93, 95% CI 1.10-3.36 after 10.7 years, versus HR 1.11, 95% CI 0.67-1.83 before 10.7 years). The results pointed towards a dose-response relationship when taking accumulated exposure to job strain over time into account. Conclusion: This study provides support to the hypothesis that work-related stress defined as job strain is linked to an increased risk of AF.

  • A mobile application for early labour support -feasibility pilot study
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Women and Birth. - : Elsevier. - 1871-5192 .- 1878-1799. ; 36:6, s. 495-503
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Use of mobile applications (apps) Use of mobile applications (apps) are increasing during pregnancy but few of these are evidence-based or evaluated in research.Aim: To examine the feasibility, including perceived usefulness and usability, and the preliminary effects of an app based on the Confident birth method. Methods: A mixed-method approach, including 48 women, was used to evaluate acceptability, usability and to test study design and procedures. iPhone-users (n = 24) tested the app during pregnancy while the remaining (n = 24) formed a control group. Background characteristics and outcome measurements were collected from all women at baseline. Women in the app group received two follow-up phone calls from a midwife concerning usefulness and ease of use of the app. A follow-up questionnaire after birth were used to measure preliminary effects of the intervention as well as system usability of the app. Results: Women using the app found the app exercises simple, understandable, and useful. System usability score showed a mean score of 85.3 indicating excellent system usability. Notes from phone calls resulted in four categories: positive feedback about the app, negative feedback about the app, partners involvement, and knowledge. Preliminary effects of labour experience showed no significant differences between the two groups, in terms of early labour or childbirth experience. Conclusion: The app tested in this feasibility study, was perceived as useful and appreciated by women. Areas for improvement of the app were identified. The result shows promise for further efficacy testing in a forthcoming randomised controlled trial.

  • Routes and relations in Scandinavian interfaith forums: Governance of religious diversity by states and majority churches
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Social Compass. - : SAGE Publications. - 0037-7686 .- 1461-7404. ; 65:3, s. 329-345
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, as elsewhere in Europe, governance of religious diversity has become a matter of renewed concern. A unique aspect of the Scandinavian situation is the hegemonic status of the respective Lutheran Protestant majority churches, usually referred to as folk churches', with which the majority of the population associates, alongside a prevalence of high degrees of regional secularism. As such, the majority churches have played a key role as both instigators and organisers of several interfaith initiatives, and have thereby come to interact with the public sphere as providers of diversity governance. Based on country-level studies of policy documents on majority-church/interreligious relations and field studies, this article sets out to explore the prompting and configuration of majority-church-related interfaith initiatives concerning church-state relations and the governance of religious diversity.
