  • Så kan Sverige bli ledande nation i resurseffektivitet
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Dagens Nyheter. - 1101-2447. ; :2016-04-30
  • Tidskriftsartikel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • Ny rapport.

  • Russian reports : Studies in post-communist transformation of media and journalism
  • 2000. - 1
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This book presents a set of studies on the state of journalism in post-communist Russia. The picture of post-Soviet conditions contains structures inherited from the past and the clashes that necessarily occur in these structures between Western and traditional Soviet media practices and philosophies. Jan Ekecrantz reviews the, mostly Western, literature on media and post-communism. This introductory chapter also raises questions about the global context of post-communist transformation and the impact of Western media practices and images. Kerstin Olofsson analyses the perestroika and the developments in the ideological/political fields as they surfaced in the discussion in Russian magazines 1989-91, when censorship was abolished. Terhi Rantanen addresses a complex of related issues concerning the new markets in Russia. The equations seem hard to solve: the development of both global and private national markets of news and of centralistic state controls. Martin Hagström gives a picture of the tumultuous situation concerning media ownership in present-day Russia, along with a historical background staring in the glasnost years. Tamara Krekola focuses on the explosion of intermittent newspapers, pamphlets etc around 1990, when freedom of the press became a reality. Jukka Pietilänen studies the relationship between social change and changing journalism in the Karelian Republic. A series of in-depth interviews with journalists is the starting point for Anna Sosnovskaya’s study of the changing practices and changing contexts of Russian journalism.

  • Same island, different diet : Cultural evolution of food practice on Öland, Sweden, from the Mesolithic to the Roman Period
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Journal of Anthropological Archaeology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0278-4165 .- 1090-2686. ; 27:4, s. 520-543
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Mesolithic–Neolithic transition in north-west Europe has been described as rapid and uniform, entailing a swift shift from the use of marine and other wild resources to domesticated terrestrial resources. Here, we approach the when, what and how of this transition on a regional level, using empirical data from Öland, an island in the Baltic Sea off the Swedish east coast, and also monitor changes that occurred after the shift. Radiocarbon dating and stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analyses of bones and teeth from 123 human individuals, along with faunal isotope data from 27 species, applying to nine sites on Öland and covering a time span from the Mesolithic to the Roman Period, demonstrate a great diversity in food practices, mainly governed by culture and independent of climatic changes. There was a marked dietary shift during the second half of the third millennium from a mixed marine diet to the use of exclusively terrestrial resources, interpreted as marking the large-scale introduction of farming. Contrary to previous claims, this took place at the end of the Neolithic and not at the onset. Our data also show that culturally induced dietary transitions occurred continuously throughout prehistory. The availability of high-resolution data on various levels, from intra-individual to inter-population, makes stable isotope analysis a powerful tool for studying the evolution of food practices.

  • The Conference of the Birds : ett poetiskt och musikaliskt scenkonstverk
  • 2022

  • Neutrophil-derived proteinase 3 induces kallikrein-independent release of a novel vasoactive kinin.
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Journal of immunology. - : The American Association of Immunologists. - 1550-6606 .- 0022-1767. ; 182:12, s. 7906-7915
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The kinin-forming pathway is activated on endothelial cells and neutrophils when high-molecular weight kininogen (HK) is cleaved by plasma kallikrein liberating bradykinin, a potent mediator of inflammation. Kinins are released during inflammatory conditions such as vasculitis, associated with neutrophil influx around blood vessels. Some patients with vasculitis have elevated plasma levels of neutrophil-derived proteinase 3 (PR3) and anti-PR3 Abs. This study investigated if neutrophil-derived PR3 could induce activation of the kinin pathway. PR3 incubated with HK, or a synthetic peptide derived from HK, induced breakdown and release of a novel tridecapeptide termed PR3-kinin, NH(2)-MKRPPGFSPFRSS-COOH, consisting of bradykinin with two additional amino acids on each terminus. The reaction was specific and inhibited by anti-PR3 and alpha(1)-antitrypsin. Recombinant wild-type PR3 incubated with HK induced HK breakdown, whereas mutated PR3, lacking enzymatic activity, did not. PR3-kinin bound to and activated human kinin B(1) receptors, but did not bind to B(2) receptors, expressed by transfected HEK293 cells in vitro. In human plasma PR3-kinin was further processed to the B(2) receptor agonist bradykinin. PR3-kinin exerted a hypotensive effect in vivo through both B(1) and B(2) receptors as demonstrated using wild-type and B(1) overexpressing rats as well as wild-type and B(2) receptor knockout mice. Neutrophil extracts from vasculitis patients and healthy controls contained comparable amounts of PR3 and induced HK proteolysis, an effect that was abolished when PR3 was immunoadsorbed. Neutrophil-derived PR3 can proteolyze HK and liberate PR3-kinin, thereby initiating kallikrein-independent activation of the kinin pathway.
