  • The crosscurrents of Swedish mathematics teacher education
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: International perspectives on mathematics teacher education. - Waxhaw, NC, USA : Information Age Publishing. - 9781648026317 - 9781648026294 - 9781648026300 ; , s. 9-48
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • As with any programs in teacher education, Swedish mathematics teacher education is influenced by changing political winds, developments in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), culture, history, PISA results, research-based program designs, and a fair amount of passion. Content and outcomes are nationally determined and include the requirement of a strong research foundation, but this is often not how practcing techers work, which exerts its own pull on teacher education. The specific implementations of programs take different forms at the universities that offer mathematics teacher education. In order to provide a comprehensive yet meaningful ntroduction to both the current system and current practices, we describe the overall organization of Swedish mathematics teacher education, and then offer short cases of implemented programs. To ensure inclusivity, the various parts are written by mathematics educators from the respective institutions. In this way, both variation across mathematicas teacher education for diffrent grade levels and variation across different institutions working with the same national directives can be distinguished. Issues such as the academization of teacher education are problematized, as are other forces that constitute the crosscurrents in Swedish mathematics teacher education.

  • Feeling controlled or being in control? : Apps for self-management among older people with neurological disability
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Disability and Rehabilitation. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1748-3107 .- 1748-3115. ; 16:6, s. 603-608
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: The aim of this paper was to describe how people living with a neurological disability such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and stroke reason regarding using apps to facilitate self-management in everyday life.Material and methods: A qualitative research approach with a focus group methodology was used. The sample comprised 16 participants, 11 men and 5 women, with an average age of 64 years (ranging from 51–80 years). Six participants were diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, six with Parkinson’s disease and four with stroke. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis, which is a method for identifying, analyzing and reporting patterns. Results: The results formed two themes. The first theme “using apps to have control of my health” comprises two subthemes; “monitor and take responsibility for a healthy lifestyle” and “compensate to facilitate everyday life”. The second theme “using the app as a tool and means for communication” also comprised two subthemes; “dare to trust the app” and “feeling safe when sharing information with health care professionals”.Conclusions: The use of apps put increased responsibility on the person and had the possibility to make them more involved in their own care. The use of an app can facilitate a healthy lifestyle and help to monitor disease-specific symptoms. In order to be able to use apps for communication with the health care sector legislation and safety issues need to be considered.

  • Strategies to develop and strengthen human factors and ergonomics knowledge among stakeholders in Sweden
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Proceedings 19th Triennial Congress of the IEA, Melbourne 9-14 August 2015. - Melbourne : International Ergonomics Association.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Knowledge and application of human factors and ergonomics (HFE) has significant potential as auseful tool and solution provider in the development, design and implementation of safe, efficient and sustainable artefacts and systems. Yet, it seems that this HFE knowledge is not utilised to its full potential. In a world of competing financial and commercial priorities, HFE specialists have apparently not succeeded in selling the systems approach as a tool towards improved overall systems performance and human well-being.The present paper describes the strategic and practical workperformed by the Swedish Ergonomics and Human Factors Society (EHSS) to strengthen the quality of human factors and ergonomics knowledge and practice among various stakeholders in Sweden. EHSS view human factors and ergonomics as a systems and design oriented discipline that extends across all aspects of human activity. Beyond the traditional domains of specialization within the discipline, the physical, cognitive and organisational ergonomics, EHSS has identified three focus areas; visual ergonomics, voice ergonomics and ergonomics design for all.Practitioner Summary: This paper presents the strategic and practical work performed by the Swedish Ergonomics and Human Factors Society (EHSS) in order to strengthen the quality of human factors and ergonomics knowledge and practice in Sweden. EHSS has identified three focus areas for its strategic work: visual ergonomics, voice ergonomics and ergonomics design for all.

  • Mälsåker Revisited: Museum och Iscensättning. : Kungl Konsthögskolan. Restaureringskonst 2015-2016
  • 2016

  • SYN-TES INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH ON COLOUR AND LIGHT
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Proceedings for Interim Meeting of the International Colour Association (AIC); AIC 2012 “In Color We Live: Color and Environment”, 22 – 25 September 2012, Taipei, Taiwan. - : The International Colour Association. ; , s. 80-83, s. 80-83
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Colour and light have largely been considered as belonging to two different fields of knowledge, having disparate theoretical, terminological and methodological traditions. This creates a ground for misunderstandings and obstructs a fruitful interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration. A survey over international research literature from 2006 -2011 shows that there has been only little research on the spatial interaction between colour and light, but that the interest for this area has recently increased. The interdisciplinary Nordic research project SYN-TES: Human colour and light synthesis. Towards a coherent field of knowledge was carried out during 2010-11. Colour and light experts from Nordic universities and companies investigated different aspects of the spatial interaction between colour and light and its importance for human beings. This paper deals with the general learnings from the process. Specific results are presented in other papers at this conference.

  • Influence of heel lifts during standing in children with motor disorders
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Gait & Posture. - : Elsevier BV. - 0966-6362 .- 1879-2219. ; 34:3, s. 426-431
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Heel wedges may influence standing posture but how and to what extent are unknown. Thirty-two children with motor disorders - 16 with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) and 16 with cerebral palsy (CP) - and 19 control children underwent a three-dimensional motion analysis. Unassisted standing during 20s with shoes only and with heel lifts of 10,20 and 30 mm heights was recorded in a randomized order. The more weight-bearing limb or the right limb was chosen for analysis. In both the AMC and CP groups, significant changes were seen between various heel lifts in ankle, knee and pelvis, and in the control group in the ankle only. Between orthosis and non-orthosis users significant differences were seen between different heel lift conditions in ankle, knee and trunk in the AMC group and in the ankle in the CP group. Pelvis position changed toward less anterior tilt with increasing heel height, but led to increasing knee flexion in most of the children, except for the AMC Non-Ort group. Children with AMC and CP represent different motor disorders, but the heel wedges had a similar influence on pelvis, hip and knee positions in all children with CP and in the AMC orthosis users. A challenge is to apply heel heights adequate to each individual's orthopaedic and neurologic conditions to improve biomechanical alignment with respect to all body segments.

  • I Know My Rights! A Longitudinal Study of Discrimination due to Physical Inaccessibility from the Perspective of Wheelchair Users
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Assistive Technology. - : IOS Press. ; 306, s. 403-408
  • Bokkapitel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • It is a fundamental right to be able to access society and the services in it. From the perspective of disability rights, people with mobility-related disabilities who use wheelchairs must have equal opportunities to participate in and contribute to society – whether it is school, work, or (activity) leisure. This ongoing study is a longitudinal document study with qualitative content analysis. The document study is based on incoming complaints of discrimination due to inaccessibility received by the DO in Sweden, 2015–2023. The study explores how the users of wheelchairs and scooters experience discrimination due to their inaccessibility, using the ICF framework, among reported complaints to the DO from 2015–2023. The preliminary results show an increase in the number of complaints about discrimination across the entire period of 2015–2023. Responding to peoples’ lived perspectives has often been cited as crucial to understanding how inclusion and exclusion play out in real life. A more accessible world depends on the extent of our knowledge and the politics of knowing-making, according to recently published research. Analyzing complaints about lack of accessibility over time generates essential knowledge for how discrimination against people who use wheelchairs can be prevented. This project also contributes to essential knowledge for social sustainability, economic sustainability, and a sustainable, accessible environment for people who use wheelchairs.
