- Qui ne connaît pas Amnesty International, Reporters sans frontières, Médecins sans frontières ou encore Greenpeace ? A elles quatre, ces ONG ne sont pourtant que la face émergée de l'iceberg : on en dénombrerait plus de dix millions à travers le monde. Ce numéro d'Hermès traite des ONG dans leur rapport à la communication. Que ces structures soient occidentales ou non, grandes ou petites, sur le terrain ou au contact des cercles de pouvoir, elles ont un impact exponentiel sur la société à l'échelle planétaire. Elles exercent une influence réelle partout là où les rapports entre politique et communication occupent une place centrale. S'il est sans doute excessif de croire que les ONG témoignent de l'existence d'une société civile mondiale, la question de l'espace public est néanmoins essentielle, à l'échelle locale, régionale ou globale. Dans un monde en crise, où se multiplient les rapports de force et les infox, la communication des ONG autant que leurs actions sont confrontées à des contradictions croissantes qui obligent à un nouvel effort d'analyse théorique et politique. Elles font notamment face à un défi majeur : celui de l'incommunication, voire de l'acommunication grandissante, dans un monde multipolaire et violent. Dans ce monde, notamment en cas d'urgence humanitaire et de guerre, la notion même de cet indispensable espace public " non gouvernemental " se trouve sans cesse radicalement remise en cause.

- This article examines the characteristics of the online construction of a writer’s self-image, through the study of Eric Chevillard’s blog L’Autofictif. By writing a blog, an author doesn’t invest a ‘genre’ as conceived in the editorial system, but a formal mold that precisely questions the notion of text. Digital writing also affects the status of the author, given the fact that the writer communicates directly with the readers of his blog, and can thus construct his own frame of legitimation. On the basis of concepts from discourse analysis (Maingueneau, Amossy), it is shown how Chevillard makes use of his status as an established writer to construct his legitimacy online. Through irony, metadiscursive statements, declarations of literary friendship and critical standpoints, his blog offers a definition of the ‘real’ writer and of ‘good literature’. Meanwhile, the author status of Chevillard gives his blog a literary dimension, something that anonymous authors cannot do because they lack an author image established by others.

- This study focuses on three blogs kept by writers who have published novels in renowned publishing houses: François Bon, Éric Chevillard and Chloé Delaume. This new writing practice raises the question of whether literature can be transferred to the Internet: does this medium admit literary activity or, on the contrary, does it represent a limit or even a threat to the future of literature? By using theoretical tools from the field of discourse analysis, the study discusses theoretical problems related to the impact of digital media on the perception of genres and on the notion of authorship. First, the study shows that the web does not allow the emergence of literary works, because this process is based on the editorial circuit and the hierarchy between textual categories. The existence of authors in the strongest meaning of the term is also compromised by the web, since the writers establish direct contact with their readers. The writer blog thus implies a dilemma: its success is necessarily to the detriment of a rewarding literary practice that the writer does not want to give up. This double bind is apparent in the way the writers use their blog: Bon wishes to open the literary field to the Internet, Chevillard is defending ”good” literature and Delaume intends to make her blog a performance.
