  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0168-9002 .- 1872-9576. ; 558:2, s. 388-418
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The construction and assembly of the two half barrels of the ATLAS central electromagnetic calorimeter and their insertion into the barrel cryostat are described. The results of the qualification tests of the calorimeter before installation in the LHC ATLAS pit are given.

  • Performance of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter barrel module 0
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0168-9002 .- 1872-9576. ; 500:03-jan, s. 202-231
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The construction and performance of the barrel pre-series module 0 of the future ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter at the LHC is described. The signal reconstruction and performance of ATLAS-like electronics has been studied. The signal to noise ratio for muons has been found to be 7.11 +/- 0.07. An energy resolution of better than 9.5% GeV1/2 / rootE (sampling term) has been obtained with electron beams of up to 245 GeV. The uniformity of the response to electrons in an area of Deltaeta x Deltaphi = 1.2 x 0.075 has been measured to be better than 0.8%.

  • Performance of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter end-cap module 0
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0168-9002 .- 1872-9576. ; 500:03-jan, s. 178-201
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The construction and beam test results of the ATLAS electromagnetic end-cap calorimeter pre-production module 0 are presented. The stochastic term of the energy resolution is between 10% and 12.5% GeV1/2 over the full pseudorapidity range. Position and angular resolutions are found to be in agreement with simulation. A global constant term of 0.6% is obtained in the pseudorapidity range 2.5 < η < 3.2 (inner wheel).

  • Factors associated with time to first dialysis-associated peritonitis episode: Data from the Peritonitis Prevention Study (PEPS)
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Peritoneal Dialysis International. - 0896-8608. ; 43:3, s. 241-251
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: Peritonitis remains a potentially serious complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatment. It is therefore important to identify risk factors in order to reduce the incidence of peritonitis. The aim of the present analysis was to identify factors associated with time to first peritonitis episode. Methods: Incident PD patients from 57 centres in Europe participated in the prospective randomised controlled Peritonitis Prevention Study (PEPS) from 2010 to 2015. Peritonitis-free, self-care PD patients >= 18 years were randomised to a retraining or a control group and followed for 1-36 months after PD initiation. The association of biochemical, clinical and prescription data with time to first peritonitis episode was studied. Results: A first peritonitis episode was experienced by 33% (223/671) of participants. Univariable Cox proportional hazard regression showed a strong association between the time-updated number of PD bags connected per 24 h (PD bags/24 h) and time to first peritonitis episode (HR 1.35; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.17-1.57), even after inclusion of PD modalities in the same model. Multivariable Cox regression revealed that the factors independently associated with time to first peritonitis episode included age (HR 1.16 per 10 years; 95% CI 1.05-1.28), PD bags/24 h (HR 1.32; 95% CI 1.13-1.54), serum albumin >35 g/L (HR 1.39; 95% CI 1.06-1.82) and body weight per 10 kg (HR 1.10; 95% CI 1.01-1.19). Conclusion: This study of incident PD patients indicates that older age, greater number of PD bags connected/24 h, higher body weight and hypoalbuminaemia are independently associated with a shorter time to first peritonitis episode.

  • Beam test results of the polarized gamma-ray observer, PoGOLite
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: 2008 IEEE NUCLEAR SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM AND MEDICAL IMAGING CONFERENCE (2008 NSS/MIC), VOLS 1-9. - 9781424427147 ; , s. 732-736
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Polarized Gamma-ray Observer, PoGOLite, is a balloon experiment with the capability of detecting 10% polarization from a 200 mCrab celestial object in the energy range 25 #x2013;80 keV. During a beam test at KEK-PF in February 2008, 20 detector units were assembled, and a 50 keV X-ray beam with a polarization degree of #x223C;90% was irradiated at the center unit. Signals from all 20 units were fed into flightversion electronics consisting of six circuit boards (four waveform digitizer boards, one digital I/O board and one router board) and one microprocessor (SpaceCube), which communicate using a SpaceWire interface. One digitizer board, which can associate up to 8 PDCs, outputs a trigger signal. The digital I/O board handles the trigger and returns a data acquisition request if there is no veto signal (upper or pulse-shape discriminators) from any detector unit. This data acquisition system worked well, and the modulation factor was successfully measured to be #x223C;34%. These results confirmed the capabilities of both detector and data-acquisition system for a pathfinder flight planned in 2010.
