  • Behandling af Dupuytrens kontraktur
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Ugeskrift for Laeger. - 0041-5782. ; 177:24, s. 2-6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Dupuytren's disease is a hereditary fibroproliferative disease commonly affecting the palmar fascia of the hand, which results in progressive and irreversibly fixed flexion contractures of the hand. It may occur in the sole of the foot or in the penis. Generally, treatment has been up against a high frequency of complications and recurrence, but promising results are reported from less invasive treatment options, e.g. needle fasciotomy and enzymatic fasciotomy with collagenase. This is a detailed, comparative review of available non-operative and surgical treatments with focus on the enzymatic fasciotomy.

  • Fibrolipomatous hamartoma in the median nerve in the arm - an unusual location but with MR imaging characteristics: a case report.
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury. - : Georg Thieme Verlag KG. - 1749-7221. ; 5, s. 1-1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • ABSTRACT: Fibrolipomatous hamartoma of the median nerve are usually located distally in the forearm and may have characteristic features on MR imaging. Here we report a patient with an extensive fibrolipomatous hamartoma at an unusual location proximally in the arm, where a preoperative MR imaging was pathognomonic and diagnosis was verified by an incisional biopsy. We suggest that MRI should be performed in cases with nerve dysfunction without an obvious cause after a thorough clinical examination.

  • Magnetic resonance imaging of peripheral nerve tumours in the upper extremity.
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1651-2073 .- 0284-4311. ; 43, s. 153-159
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Clinical assessment and various diagnostic tools, particularly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), of tumours of peripheral nerves are used to get an accurate diagnosis and to plan surgical intervention. Our purpose was to examine the usefulness of MRI in assessing nerve tumours in the upper extremity. Medical records of 19 patients (20 MRI examinations) with 29 histopathologically verified benign nerve tumours were examined retrospectively. In 12/20 cases MRI suggested a correct diagnosis of the type of nerve tumour. An additional 3/20 cases had an uncertain diagnosis, but nerve relations to the tumour were established. In 5/20 cases MRI gave a doubtful diagnosis with no suspicion of the tumour being located in a nerve trunk. MRI can localise and diagnose a nerve tumour in the upper extremity in 75% of cases, but it is difficult to specify the type of tumour.

  • Tumours of peripheral nerves in the upper extremity: A 22-year epidemiological study.
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1651-2073 .- 0284-4311. ; 43:1, s. 43-49
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Peripheral nerve tumours are uncommon. Our aims were to calculate the incidence and relative frequencies, to define sites of nerve tumours and to judge preoperative symptoms and outcomes of intervention. The results of 53 patients, with 68 tumours and histopathological diagnoses of true neoplasms, who had been operated on at the Department of Hand Surgery, Malmo, Sweden, between 1986 and 2007, were analysed. Schwannomas were the most common tumour (n=42). The incidence of schwannomas was 0.62/100 000 inhabitants/year in Malmo during that time period. The median nerve was most affected, closely followed by the ulnar and digital nerves. The preferred sites were the forearm, the thumb, and the digits. The most common preoperative symptom was pain. Loss of sensation was the most common postoperative complication. However, 33/53 patients (62%) were completely free of symptoms after excision. Patients should be provided with meticulous information preoperatively.

  • Late Holocene landscape development around a Roman Iron Age mass grave, Alken Enge, Denmark
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Vegetation History and Archaeobotany. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0939-6314 .- 1617-6278. ; 26:3, s. 277-292
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Sediments from the small lake Ilsø situated in the Illerup/Alken Enge Valley were studied in order to investigate past landscape development at the time of a probably ritual human mass burial following battle during the Roman Iron Age (ad 1–400). A pollen record from Ilsø and a number of other records from Jutland were combined using the Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm to reconstruct local vegetation changes through the last 2,800 years. These methods were supplemented by studies of catchment-related geochemistry of the Ilsø lake sediments. The results show a marked reforestation event associated with a strong decrease in erosion levels at the very beginning of the first century ad, contemporaneous with the finds of human remains at Alken Enge. Comparison with a pollen record 10 km away and with those from other sites, reveals that this reforestation occurs unusually early and rapidly, and is an unparalleled development in a Danish context. We suggest that the major landscape changes at the beginning of the Roman Iron Age and forest cover for the next few centuries comprise a possible example of ritual control of local land-use.
