  • An Extended ArchiMate Metamodel for Microgrid Control System Architectures
  • 2012
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Management of various Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in microgrids requires the integration of heterogeneous control devices and systems. Design and management of such integrated systems would benefit from the application of models that capture structural and functional aspects. These models are important in order to abstract the technical detail for planning and design in order to provide a basis for discussion amongst stakeholders and technical experts. Such models should provide semantics that adequately describe and define these aspects from the electro-technical to the information management perspective during design and implementation. In the discipline of IT management, Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a commonly used approach. The EA approach is typically based on metamodels with ArchiMate being one of the most well known. ArchiMate aims to enable holistic descriptions of businesses and their supporting IT using three layers, namely business, application and technology, from three perspectives, namely information, behavior and structure. While, invaluable for planning and management of large organizational IT, ArchiMate in its original form lacks the descriptive semantics required to specifically capture the high level of systems integration required for electrical process management. This paper proposes an extended ArchiMate metamodel for modeling microgrid components, the control systems, and the management and control of these integrated systems. The paper provides an example of how this can be applied to a proposed microgrid development project.

  • Long-term efavirenz pharmacokinetics is comparable between Tanzanian HIV and HIV/Tuberculosis patients with the same CYP2B6*6 genotype
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Scientific reports. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2045-2322. ; 8:1, s. 16316-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The impact of anti-tuberculosis co-treatment on efavirenz (EFV) exposure is still uncertain as contradictory reports exist, and the relevance of CYP2B6*6 genetic polymorphism on efavirenz clearance while on-and-off anti-tuberculosis co-treatment is not well investigated. We investigated the determinants of long-term efavirenz pharmacokinetics by enrolling HIV (n = 20) and HIV/Tuberculosis (n = 36) subjects undergoing efavirenz and efavirenz/rifampicin co-treatment respectively. Pharmacokinetic samplings were done 16 weeks after initiation of efavirenz-based anti-retroviral therapy and eight weeks after completion of rifampicin-based anti-tuberculosis treatment. Population pharmacokinetic modeling was used to characterize variabilities and covariates of efavirenz pharmacokinetic parameters. CYP2B6*6 genetic polymorphism but not rifampicin co-treatment was the statistically significant covariate. The estimated typical efavirenz clearance in the HIV only subjects with the CYP2B6*1/*1 genotype was 23.6 L/h/70 kg, while it was 38% and 69% lower in subjects with the CYP2B6*1/*6 and *6/*6 genotypes, respectively. Among subjects with the same CYP2B6 genotypes, efavirenz clearances were comparable between HIV and HIV/Tuberculosis subjects. Typical efavirenz clearances before and after completion of anti-tuberculosis therapy were comparable. In conclusion, after 16 weeks of treatment, efavirenz clearance is comparable between HIV and HIV/Tuberculosis patients with the same CYP2B6 genotype. CYP2B6 genotyping but not anti-tuberculosis co-treatment should guide efavirenz dosing to optimize treatment outcomes.

  • Development of a Real Time Data Collection Unit for distribution network in a smart grid environment
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Towards Sustainable Energy, 2014 Power and Energy Systems Conference. - : IEEE Computer Society. - 9781479934201 - 9781479934218 ; , s. 6805323-
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper proposes a Real Time Data Collection Unit (RTDCU) to be used in the distribution side of a smart grid for real time data collection. The RTDCU unit uses Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) based approach to compute the voltage and current phasors and frequency of the power system signals. The design, development and testing of such a system is done for a 5-bus micro grid simulator which represents a scaled down model of approximately 25km2 grid with a peak demand of 15MW. The RTDCU unit is first simulated and tested in MATLAB environment using synthetic signals and the correctness is ensured. The unit is then implemented in hardware in a dsPIC30f4011 microcontroller and tested for different loads. The future scope of the unit and the ways to improve the performance and synchronized data collection are also discussed.

  • Direct Load Control on Smart Micro Grid supported by Wireless Communication and Real Time Computation
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 2014 International Conference on Interdisciplinary Advances in Applied Computing. - New York, NY, USA : ACM. - 9781450329088
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A load management scheme applied to micro grid, in a smart gridenvironment is presented in this paper. A smart micro gridsimulator is developed and used for the validation of the study. The simulator is provided with synchronized measurement facilitythat is wirelessly connected to computational network. Theproposed load management scheme is a direct load controladopted as a demand response program executed on frequencybased decisions.
