  • School environment and mental health in early adolescence - a longitudinal study in Sweden (KUPOL)
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: BMC Psychiatry. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1471-244X. ; 16
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Longitudinal studies indicate strong associations between school proficiency and indicators of mental health throughout adulthood, but the mechanisms of such associations are not fully elucidated. The Kupol study is a prospective cohort study in Sweden set up in order to: (i) describe the association of school pedagogic and social environment and its specific dimensions with the risk of mental ill-health and psychiatric disorders in adolescence; (ii) evaluate the direct effects of school pedagogic and social environment on mental health and the effects mediated by the individual's academic achievements; and (iii) assess if school pedagogic and social environment are associated with mental ill-health through epigenetic mechanisms, in particular those involving genes regulating the response to stress. Methods: The Kupol cohort at baseline consists of 3959 children attending the 7th grade of compulsory school (13-14 years old) in 8 regions of central Sweden in the school years 2013-2014 or 2014-2015. Three follow-up surveys in subsequent years are planned. Teachers' and students' perceptions of the culture, climate and ethos of their schools, and students' mental ill-health are assessed at the whole school level by annual questionnaire surveys. In order to conduct epigenetic analyses saliva specimens are collected from a nested sample of students at inception and two years later. Further, class-, family-and child-level information is collected at baseline and during each year of follow-up. Self-reported information is being complemented with register data via record-linkages to national and regional health and administrative registers.Discussion: The topic being investigated is new, and the sample constitutes the largest adolescent cohort in Sweden involved in an ad hoc study. Epigenetic analyses centered on environmental cues to stress response are a thoroughly new approach. Finally a notable feature is the multi-informant and multi-method data collection, with surveys at the school, class, family, and student level. Collaboration and data access: interested investigators should contact the coordinating centre. Additional information is available on the study's website, http://kupolstudien.se/.

  • NoC design for the soc of image process system of road mark recognition
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Proceedings - International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, ICECE 2010. - 9780769540313 ; , s. 3912-3916
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With the analysis of basic properties, this paper proposed a SoC design of Image Process System of Road Mark Recognition (IPSRMR) based on data flow graph (DFG) model and generic regulable NoC (GRNoC). It is provided of properties of data transmission and timing for each resource module with building the system DFG model with analyzing functions and algorithm. The basic method for optimizing resources and mapping is shown by analyzing DFG model of the IPSRMR. Following the analysis results of DFG, the SoC for IPSRMR has optimized GRNoC architecture, achieves shortest data transmission paths among the resources, implements straight data transmission, increases the speed of data transmission, and reduced the requirement for data process speed of each resource. In addition, the power consumption is reduced with such a optimized architecture.

  • NoC design with DFG model for DSPS
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Proceedings - International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, ICECE 2010. - 9780769540313 ; , s. 3917-3920
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The mapping design of network on chip (NoC) is one of the cores of SoC design for digital signal process system (DSPS). A NoC mapping method based on data flow graph (DFG) is addressed in this paper. For modules of heterogeneous processors, central memory, and IPs (intellectual properties), DFG model analysis shows that DFG model provides important data transmission properties included the direction and contents of data transmitting, requirements of synchronization and speed of data transmission. The DFG model, therefore, can be the base of route mapping design for the NoC. In addition, node architecture of simple router used in generic regulable NoC (GRNoC) is also proposed in this paper. The simple router can increases the properties of data transmission in NoC and is more suitable for mapping design with DFG model.

  • Application of an innovative grid-based surveillance strategy to ensure elimination and prevent reintroduction of malaria in high-risk border communities in China
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: BMC Public Health. - : Springer Nature. - 1471-2458. ; 22:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Grid management is a grassroots governance strategy widely implemented in China since 2004 to improve the government's efficiency to actively find and solve problems among populated regions. A grid-based strategy surveillancing high-risk groups, including mobile and migrant populations (MMPs), in the China-Myanmar border region has played an indispensable role in promoting and consolidating the malaria elimination efforts by tracking and timely identification of potential importation or re-establishment of malaria among MMPs. A sequential mixed methods was implementated to explore the operational mechanism and best practices of the grid-based strategy including through the focus group discussions (FGDs), comparison of before and after the implementation of a grid-based strategy in the field sites, and data collection from the local health system. This paper distills the implementation mechanism and highlights the role of the grid-based strategy in the elimination and prevention of re-establishment of malaria transmission.

  • Imputation and subset-based association analysis across different cancer types identifies multiple independent risk loci in the TERT-CLPTM1L region on chromosome 5p15.33
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Human Molecular Genetics. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0964-6906 .- 1460-2083. ; 23:24, s. 6616-6633
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have mapped risk alleles for at least 10 distinct cancers to a small region of 63 000 bp on chromosome 5p15.33. This region harbors the TERT and CLPTM1L genes; the former encodes the catalytic subunit of telomerase reverse transcriptase and the latter may play a role in apoptosis. To investigate further the genetic architecture of common susceptibility alleles in this region, we conducted an agnostic subset-based meta-analysis (association analysis based on subsets) across six distinct cancers in 34 248 cases and 45 036 controls. Based on sequential conditional analysis, we identified as many as six independent risk loci marked by common single-nucleotide polymorphisms: five in the TERT gene (Region 1: rs7726159, P = 2.10 × 10(-39); Region 3: rs2853677, P = 3.30 × 10(-36) and PConditional = 2.36 × 10(-8); Region 4: rs2736098, P = 3.87 × 10(-12) and PConditional = 5.19 × 10(-6), Region 5: rs13172201, P = 0.041 and PConditional = 2.04 × 10(-6); and Region 6: rs10069690, P = 7.49 × 10(-15) and PConditional = 5.35 × 10(-7)) and one in the neighboring CLPTM1L gene (Region 2: rs451360; P = 1.90 × 10(-18) and PConditional = 7.06 × 10(-16)). Between three and five cancers mapped to each independent locus with both risk-enhancing and protective effects. Allele-specific effects on DNA methylation were seen for a subset of risk loci, indicating that methylation and subsequent effects on gene expression may contribute to the biology of risk variants on 5p15.33. Our results provide strong support for extensive pleiotropy across this region of 5p15.33, to an extent not previously observed in other cancer susceptibility loci.
