  • Fiskbestånd och miljö i hav och sötvatten : Resurs- och miljööversikt 2012
  • 2012
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • Ketamine and its use in the pig : Recommendations of the consensus meeting on ketamine anaesthesia in pigs, Bergen 1994
  • 1996
  • In: Laboratory Animals. - : SAGE Publications. - 0023-6772 .- 1758-1117. ; 30:3, s. 209-219
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Ketamine, when used as a mono-anaesthetic, does not appear to induce surgical anaesthesia in the pig. The addition of other drugs such as opioids, benzodiazepines and alpha2-adrenergic agonists deepens anaesthesia and enables major surgery to be performed. A decision-tree for the rational use of ketamine for both short and long-term anaesthesia in the pig under three different levels of procedure severity is presented.

  • Screening of chemical pulp, revisiting technology options, and the state-of-the-art equipment—A critical review
  • 2023
  • In: Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0008-4034 .- 1939-019X. ; 101:10, s. 5643-5655
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Screening of pulp can be expressed as a process where solid contaminants are removed from a pulp slurry without an excessive loss of fibres of acceptable quality. The impurities originate from the feedstock, or they are generated during the transport, handling, storage, or pulping process. The most typical impurities include bark, fibre bundles or shives, knots, plastic, rubber, and sand. Moreover, there are also other objectives for screening, such as the improvement of the pulp quality, savings in bleaching chemical consumption, and protection of process equipment. In industrial applications, pulp screening is typically carried out with more than one screen for a more beneficial screening result. The pulp screening equipment can be divided into different types by the separation technique employed, such as atmospheric or pressurized screens, centrifugal screens, vibrating screens, etc. In addition, there are other types of related equipment that are common in the pulp screening process, such as knotters, refiners, and hydrocyclones. The main objective of this review is to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of modern screening equipment as well as introduce contemporary screening strategies for chemical pulp mills.

  • Change in expiratory flow detects partial endotracheal tube obstruction in pressure-controlled ventilation
  • 2006
  • In: Anesthesia and Analgesia. - : Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health). - 0003-2999 .- 1526-7598. ; 103:3, s. 650-657
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Only extreme degrees of endotracheal tube (ETT) narrowing can be detected with monitoring of tidal volume (V-T) during pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV). To assess the degree of ETT obstruction in PCV and to compare it to V,, monitoring, we produced 3 levels of partial ETT obstruction in 11 healthy anesthetized piglets using ETTs of 4 different inner diameters (IDs 9.0, 8.0, 7.0, and 6.0 mm). An expiratory flow over volume (<(V)over dot >(e)-V) curve was plotted and the time constant (tau(e)) at 15% of expiration time (T-e) was calculated. We also calculated the fractional volume expired during the first 15% of T-e (V-ex (fract, 15)) and compared those variables to full expiratory V, for each of the 3 obstructions. V-T monitoring failed to detect ETT narrowing. By contrast, V-ex (fract,15) decreased and tau(e)e increased significantly with increasing ETT narrowing (for IDs 9.0, 8.0, 7.0, and 6.0, mean V-ex (fract,15) was 195, 180, 146, and 134 mL respectively and mean tau(e) was 380, 491, 635, 794 ms for IDs 9.0, 8.0, 7.0, and 6.0 respectively). We conclude that when the elastic recoil that drives <(V)over dot >(e) is appropriately considered, analysis of <(V)over dot >(e) and V-ex (fract,15) detects partial ETT obstruction during PCV.
