  • Entrepreneurship and the Enterprising Self Creating alternatives through entrepreneurship education?
  • 2015
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The entrepreneurial logic has spread via an abundance of organisations and variouspeoples that embrace the promise of prosperity it indoctrinates. Apart from thegeneration of new companies and market places this indoctrination also entails aflexible invention of enterprising subjectivities. Recently, we have seen adiversification of the contexts in which enterprising subjectivities are invited toundergird entrepreneurship. For example in the context of social entrepreneurship(Dey, 2014) and ecopreneurship (Skoglund, forthcoming). How we are invited tohappily join in and contribute to this entrepreneurship discourse, even as criticalscholars, needs to be seriously considered as the variety of enterprising selvesadvances. As researchers teaching in entrepreneurship we believe that it is not enoughto contemplate upon and write papers about, but also find new approaches to,entrepreneurship studies and teaching thereof. This paper presents the development and implementation of a criticalentrepreneurship course, “Entrepreneurship and the Enterprising Self” (EES),designed for master students. The course was developed with the purpose to 1)deconstruct the basic ontological assumptions that undergird the entrepreneurial logicand explore the extension and reformulation of these assumptions for various forms ofentrepreneurship, such as social entrepreneurship and ecopreneurship, 2) to analysethe broadening of enterprising subjectivities that unfold hand in hand with these formsof entrepreneurship, and 3) to go beyond these forms of entrepreneurship andsubjectivities to touch upon the (im)possibility to collectively construct new worlds.

  • Transformation from entrepreneurship to entrepreneurships : creating alternatives?
  • 2014
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this paper our ambition is to provide with theoretical and empirical inspiration for studying contemporary constitutions of entrepreneurship. In specific, we seek to highlight how the transformation from entrepreneurship into forms of entrepreneurships has unfolded on various arenas. This means tracing the interplay between criticism of (traditional) entrepreneurship and the outbreak and dissemination of alternative entrepreneurships. In specific, we focus on the positive connotations that come with the alternative forms, a goodness that lures behind each and every corner, to see what it shapes as well as what shape entrepreneurship takes. Even if entrepreneurship research does pay some interest to the changing conditions for entrepreneurship, it seldom links these to changes in conditions for people, organizations and societies.

  • Knowledge, challenges, and standard of care of young women with ADHD at Swedish youth clinics
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Sexual & Reproductive HealthCare. - Oxford, United Kingdom : Elsevier. - 1877-5756 .- 1877-5764. ; 32
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives: Sexual risk-taking and its consequences for young women with ADHD(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) including sexually transmitted diseases, teenage pregnancies and underage parenthood constitute substantial challenges for individuals and midwives. The aim was to investigate current knowledge and specific challenges in reproductive health and contraceptive counselling for women with ADHD at Swedish youth clinics. Method: Inductive qualitative interview study of ten midwives at six youth health clinics in Stockholm and Uppsala County. We used a semi-structured interview guide. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed with the NVivo 12 qualitative data analysis software. Results: Three main categories were identified: (1) challenges in provision of care of young women with ADHD, (2) standard of care and active adaptations towards women with ADHD and (3) organizational readiness for change;. Several challenges and frustrations, such as difficulties with attention with or without concomitant impulsivity and overactivity, in provision of reproductive health and contraceptive counselling for young women with ADHD were identified. Midwives reported high organizational readiness for improvement of standard of care. Conclusions: Inadequate contraceptive counseling or lack of knowledge on specific challenges in the sexual and reproductive health of young women with ADHD may contribute to this group failing to access, inadequately respond to, or act upon counseling at youth clinics. Support for midwives with evidence-based interventions specifically developed for these women are imperative. Development of such tools should be a priority for research.

  • Battling extraordinary situations and conflicting emotions : A qualitative study of being a newly graduated Registered Nurse in the emergency department during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Nursing Open. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 2054-1058. ; 9:5, s. 2370-2380
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aim: To describe newly graduated registered nurses' (NGRNs') experiences of encountering stress in emergency departments (EDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design: A qualitative descriptive study. Methods: Data from 14 in-depth interviews with NGRNs working in an ED for 3-36 months after graduation was analysed by the means of qualitative content analysis as described by Graneheim and Lundman. Interviews were conducted from March to November 2020 covering the first two waves of the pandemic. Results: Data revealed three categories and nine subcategories comprised in the theme Battling extraordinary situations and conflicting emotions. Empowered by acknowledging themselves as important caregivers during the pandemic NGRNs struggle against limitations and exert themselves beyond their known limit. External stressors due to work overload in combination with understaffing force NGRNs into the role of the experienced nurse prematurely and internal stressors derives from part taking in less qualitative care.

  • Caring through barriers—Newly graduated registered nurses' lived experiences in emergency departments during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Advanced Nursing. - : John Wiley and Sons Inc. - 0309-2402 .- 1365-2648. ; 79:6, s. 2269-2279
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aim: To illuminate the meaning of newly graduated registered nurses' experiences of caring for patients in emergency departments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design: A phenomenological hermeneutical study guided by Lindseth and Norberg. Methods: In-depth one-on-one interviews with 14 nurses from five hospitals were conducted from March to November 2020 and analysed using thematic analysis. The consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ) were used as the reporting guideline. Results: The findings comprise one main theme Caring through barriers and three themes with sub-themes. In the first theme, having intention to care, participants revealed their dedication to care for patients during the pandemic despite extensive stress, little experience and skills. The second theme, with tied hands in human suffering, illuminates experiences of being disconnected from the patient, overwhelmed by responsibility and unable to relieve suffering. The third theme, feeling inadequate, reveals experiences of lack of support and doubts meaning less space to develop into the nurse one wants to be. Conclusion: Findings reveal a new understanding of new nurses' experiences during times of crisis. The essence of caring in the emergency department during the pandemic can be explained as mediated through spatial, temporal and emotional barriers preventing new nurses from providing holistic care. Impact: The results may be used as anticipatory guidance for new nurses and inform targeted support interventions to support new nurses entering the profession in crisis conditions. Public Contribution: This study involved new nurses in semi-structured interviews.
