  • Framework for evaluating tools used in edemocracy : transparency, autonomy, consensus and pluralism
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: DSV writers hut 2014. - Stockholm : Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University. - 9789163774577
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The concept of e-democracy has been around for a while. However, the intercontextual understanding of this is still immature which complicates interdisciplinarity and communication with a diversity of stakeholders, resulting in a weak participation and implementation of e-services. This is even more emphasized in an international setting, not the least in the context of various European Union initiatives regarding e-service provision. To increase the participation in the context, e-democracy services can be utilized for strengthening individual capabilities as well as political processes. The effective design of such processes requires tools to support decision-making, collaboration, and collaborative decision-making, voting engagement and involvement in the democratic process. This article presents an evaluation framework suitable for tools for e-democracy aiming at forming a constructive base for implementing an efficient support for enabling an increased participation in vital democratic processes.

  • CM 3 : Emergency problem management - A scenario-based evaluation
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Proceedings - ICIDT 2012, 8th International Conference on Information Science and Digital Content Technology. - : IEEE Computer Society. - 9788988678695 ; , s. 379-386, s. 379-386
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Competitiveness and survivability of many companies today does not only depend on their products and development processes. It also strongly depends on how effective the organizations are in managing emergency software problems. Despite this, there is only one process model dealing with software emergencies. It is CM 3: Emergency Problem Management. In this paper, we evaluate CM 3: Emergency Problem Management using three real-life emergency case scenarios. Our results show that the emergency processes strongly vary from case to case. Despite this, they could be easily mapped on the CM 3: Emergency Problem Management constituents.

  • Evaluation of the Applicability of CM3 : Emergency Problem Management within the Industry
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: ICSEA 2014, The Ninth International Conference on Software Engineering Advances. - : International Academy, Research and Industry Association (IARIA). - 9781612083674 ; , s. 485-494
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Software has become one of the main villains of many organizational problems, emergencies and crises. Despite this, there is only one process model defining how to manage emergency software problems. It is CM3: Emergency Problem Management. In this paper, we evaluate the applicability of the CM3: Emergency Problem Management model within five companies. Our results show that the model correctly manages the real-life emergency and crisis situations that are dependent on malfunctioning software. This evaluation shows that all the five companies have emergency processes that reflect CM3 model’s architecture, however, to different degrees. Additionally all the five companies have also designated roles that act as focal points of information and decision making during emergencies. Finally, only one company has identified the organizations and systems, which should be affected by the emergency process.

  • Comparing two software emergency process models
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: 2012 International Conference on Software and System Process, ICSSP 2012 - Proceedings. - Zürich : IEEE. - 9781467323529 ; , s. 150-159, s. 150-159
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Organizations need guidance on how to efficiently manage emergency software problems. Such guidance, however, is available in only one process model today, CM3: Emergency Problem Management. In this paper, we compare CM3: Emergency Problem Management with an industrial software emergency process model. Our comparison results lead to the extensions of CM3: Emergency Problem Management with a pre-alert phase and a co-ordination of the management of emergency software problems with a crisis management process.

  • Problem management of business-critical systems in literature : a review and viable systems analysis
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Business Continuity and Risk Management (IJBCRM). - 1758-2164 .- 1758-2172. ; 6:3, s. 238-256
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Problem management of business-critical systems has over the last few decades grown into a topic of great importance for business continuity. This is due to the increased use of critical systems both in private and public sectors: assets of great value, organisational viability and even people’s lives can be put in jeopardy due to poor management of malfunctioning software. Hence, understanding what influences critical software problem management is important. Even so, studies of the human side of this topic are sparse. In this article, a literature review to identify main socio-technical issues in managing critical software problems is presented. We can see from the results that factors influencing software problem management of business critical systems can be grouped into four themes: reliability in operations, fault detection, system recovery and change requests. By taking a socio-technical viewpoint, we outline some complex challenges and deepen our understanding of the factors involved.
