  • Assessing the business value of electronic order-to-payment cycle
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: ECIS 2009 Proceedings.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we build an evaluation tool for assessing the business impacts of an electronic order-topayment cycle. Based on a literature review and expert interviews, we formulate a three-stage model which includes performance indicators for electronic order, electronic invoice, and electronic payment processes. In addition, we pinpoint the inter-process linkages. We test the proposed evaluation tool in a business context and find that the impacts of automating the order-to-payment cycle relate closely to cost avoidance. However, a strong emphasis on asset utilization can be observed as well – better use of IT could enhance utilization of existing human resources and capital, affecting company profitability.

  • Attitudes to information technology in health care professions
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: The 17th European Conference on Information Systems, Verona, june 8-10, 2009..
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The purpose of this paper is to explore attitudes towards IT among various categories of health care staff; health care professions. We will identify problem areas that may be the reasons for why different attitudes among different professions at a healthcare organisation exist, and subsequently we will analyse how this may have impact on how to make sense of IT use. The research question is: What factors may explain differences regarding attitudes to IT among different professions in a health care organisation? The paper reports from a particular study of the “NU” healthcare organisation in west Sweden. The results reveal two main problem areas: i) the infrastructural and; ii) the socio-organisational. These are discussed as analytical implications for bridging the gaps between different professions in health care organisations.

  • Perfusion weighted MR imaging may differentiate primary CNS-lymphoma from other homogeneously enhancing brain tumors.
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: The Neuroradiology Journal. - 1971-4009. ; 21:5, s. 637-644
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and metastases may be difficult to differentiate based on conventional imaging alone. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of perfusion weighted imaging (PWI) in differentiating homogeneously enhancing PCNSL from homogeneously enhancing GBM and metastases. Seven consecutive patients presenting with homogeneously enhancing intraaxial tumors on MRI were retrospectively analyzed. All seven patients (three immunocompetent patients with PCNSL, three with GBM, and one with cerebral metastases) were examined with identical MR-sequences including PWI. The relative regional Cerebral Blood Volume (rrCBV) and the rrCBV ratio (rrCBVratio) were calculated. In lymphomas rrCBVratio was 0.93 ± 0.42 (mean ± SD) compared with 7.93 ± 1.44 in GBM and metastases. All lymphomas had rrCBVratio < 1.43 while all GBM and metastases had rrCBVratio > 1.43 (Fischer exact test; p < 0.001). PWI may be a valuable method in differentiating homogenously enhancing PCNSL from GBM and metastases.

  • Improving the Health of Individuals With Cerebral Palsy: Protocol for the Multidisciplinary Research Program MOVING ON WITH CP
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Jmir Research Protocols. - Toronto, Canada : JMIR Publications Inc.. - 1929-0748. ; 8:10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is one of the most common early onset disabilities globally. The causative brain damage in CP is nonprogressive, yet secondary conditions develop and worsen over time. Individuals with CP in Sweden and most of the Nordic countries are systematically followed in the national registry and follow-up program entitled the Cerebral Palsy Follow-Up Program (CPUP). CPUP has improved certain aspects of health care for individuals with CP and strengthened collaboration among professionals. However, there are still issues to resolve regarding health care for this specific population. Objective: The overall objectives of the research program MOVING ON WITH CP are to (1) improve the health care processes and delivery models; (2) develop, implement, and evaluate real-life solutions for Swedish health care provision; and (3) evaluate existing health care and social insurance benefit programs and processes in the context of CP. Methods: MOVING ON WITH CP comprises 9 projects within 3 themes. Evaluation of Existing Health Care (Theme A) consists of registry studies where data from CPUP will be merged with national official health databases, complemented by survey and interview data. In Equality in Health Care and Social Insurance (Theme B), mixed methods studies and registry studies will be complemented with focus group interviews to inform the development of new processes to apply for benefits. In New Solutions and Processes in Health Care Provision (Theme C), an eHealth (electronic health) procedure will be developed and tested to facilitate access to specialized health care, and equipment that improves the assessment of movement activity in individuals with CP will be developed. Results: The individual projects are currently being planned and will begin shortly. Feedback from users has been integrated. Ethics board approvals have been obtained. Conclusions: In this 6-year multidisciplinary program, professionals from the fields of medicine, social sciences, health sciences, and engineering, in collaboration with individuals with CP and their families, will evaluate existing health care, create conditions for a more equal health care, and develop new technologies to improve the health care management of people with CP.

  • Coming across a hidden problem in an excluded population in Sweden : professionals' experiences of young migrants' disclosures of sexual violence
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Culture, Health and Sexuality. - Abingdon : Routledge. - 1369-1058 .- 1464-5351. ; 26:5, s. 621-637
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Growing evidence suggests that young migrants are particularly vulnerable to sexual violence. As young migrants often lack family and social networks, professionals are often the recipients of disclosures of sexual violence. This study aimed to explore how professionals experience young migrants' disclosures of sexual violence. A qualitative design was used, based on 14 semi-structured interviews with a range of professionals from the public sector and civil society in southern Sweden. The data were analysed using qualitative content analysis. The overarching theme developed was 'coming across the hidden problem of sexual violence in an excluded population' supported by three sub-themes: 'linking structural marginalisation and vulnerability to sexual violence'; 'realising that sexual violence is one among many other concerns'; and 'taking pride in backing up young people betrayed by society'. Professionals expressed a strong sense of responsibility due to the complex vulnerabilities of young migrants and their lack of access to services. This, coupled with the lack of clarity about how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence, can lead to moral distress. There is a need to strengthen support for professionals, including recognition of ethical dilemmas and the establishment of formal connections between organisations making access more straightforward and predictable.

  • Synthesis of theoretical and empirical experineces from nutrient and cyprinid reductions in Lake Ringsjön
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Hydrobiologia. - 0018-8158. ; 404, s. 145-156
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The reduction in external phosphorus load to Lake Ringsjön during the 1980s, did not result in improved water transparency during the following ten-year period. Furthermore, a fish-kill in the Eastern Basin of the lake, in addition to a cyprinid reduction programme (biomanipulation; 1988–1992), in contrast to theory, did not lead to any increase in zooplankton biomass or size. This absence of response in the pelagic food chain may have been attributed to the increase in abundance of YOY (0+) fish, following the fish reduction programme. Despite the lack of effect on zooplankton, there was a decrease in phytoplankton biomass, a change in species composition and an increase in water transparency following biomanipulation. In 1989, one year after the fish-kill in Eastern Basin, the Secchi depth (summer mean) increased from 60 cm to 110 cm. In the following years, water transparency increased further, despite an increase in phosphorus loading. An unexpected effect of the biomanipulation was an increase in benthic invertebrate and staging waterfowl abundances, which occurred 2–4 years after fish reduction. Hence, the response in the benthic community following biomanipulation was considerably stronger than in the pelagic community. A likely explanation is that reduction in abundance of the benthic feeding fish species bream (Abramis brama), strongly affected the benthic invertebrate fauna. In this paper, we present what we believe happened in Lake Ringsjön, and which processes are likely to have been important at various stages of the restoration process.
