  • N-K near edge x-ray absorption fine structures of acetonitrile in gas phase
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Journal of Chemical Physics. - : AIP Publishing. - 0021-9606 .- 1089-7690. ; 123:21, s. 214301-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    •  The dynamic processes of N(1s) core-hole excitation in gas-phase CH3CN molecule have been studied at both Hartree-Fock and hybrid density-functional theory levels. The vibrational structure is analyzed for fully optimized core-excited states. Frank-Condon factors are obtained using the linear coupling model for various potential surfaces. It is found that the vibrational profile of the N-K absorption can be largely described by a summation of two vibrational progressions: a structure-rich profile of nu((CN)) stretching mode and a large envelope of congestioned vibrational levels related to the strong (-C-CN) terminal bending bond. Excellent agreement between theoretical and experimental spectra is obtained.

    • Resonant X-ray Raman scattering is a powerful tool to study molecular dynamics and subtle chemical effects like the molecular field beyond vibrational and lifetime limitations. Using this technique in the tender X-ray region, gas phase HCl is studied as a benchmark molecule for other compounds like freons, which play an important role in physical-chemical properties of the ozone layer of atmosphere.

  • Theory of attosecond delays in laser-assisted photoionization
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Chemical Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0301-0104 .- 1873-4421. ; 414, s. 53-64
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study the temporal aspects of laser-assisted extreme ultraviolet (XUV) photoionization using attosecond pulses of harmonic radiation. The aim of this paper is to establish the general form of the phase of the relevant transition amplitudes and to make the connection with the time-delays that have been recently measured in experiments. We find that the overall phase contains two distinct types of contributions: one is expressed in terms of the phase-shifts of the photoelectron continuum wavefunction while the other is linked to continuum–continuum transitions induced by the infrared (IR) laser probe. Our formalism applies to both kinds of measurements reported so far, namely the ones using attosecond pulse trains of XUV harmonics and the others based on the use of isolated attosecond pulses (streaking). The connection between the phases and the time-delays is established with the help of finite difference approximations to the energy derivatives of the phases. The observed time-delay is a sum of two components: a one-photon Wigner-like delay and an universal delay that originates from the probing process itself.

  • Probing photoelectron angular distributions in molecules with polarization-controlled two-color above-threshold ionization
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Physical Review A. Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics. - 1050-2947 .- 1094-1622. ; 91:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present polarization-controlled multiphoton two-color above-threshold ionization (TCATI) of molecules. The intensity modulations of valence photoelectron intensities of molecules arising from varying the relative orientation of the linear polarization vectors of femtosecond infrared (IR) and vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) radiation in TCATI of the highest occupied molecular orbitals of H2O, O-2, and N-2 are reported. The results on the molecular systems are compared to the 3p photoionization of atomic Ar, which serves as a reference system. Modeling the large differences of the modulation amplitudes within the soft-photon approximation enables us to extract the one-photon-ionization anisotropy parameter beta(2). Accounting only for the first sideband due to two-photon TCATI by one VUV and one IR photon we find satisfactory agreement between experiment and simulation for H2O and O2. However, the model fails for N2 and possible reasons are discussed. We discuss that the described approach may represent an alternative way of determining photoelectron angular distributions from valence shells of molecules and indicate future directions for modeling TCATI of molecules.

  • Dynamics of multiphoton processes in nonlinear optics and x-ray spectroscopy
  • 2009
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • New generations of ultrashort and intense laser pulses as well ashigh power synchrotron radiation sources and x-ray free electronlasers have promoted fast developments in nonlinear optics andx-ray spectroscopy. The new experimental achievements and the appearance of varieties of novelnonlinear phenomena call for further development of theories. The objective of this thesis is to develop and apply thetheories to explain existing experimental data and to suggest new experiments. The first part of the thesis is devoted to nonlinear propagation of optical pulses. It is shown that the vibrational levels can be selectively populated by varying the duration, shape and intensity of the pump pulse. We obtained a strict analytical solution for the resonant two-photon interaction in a multilevel system beyond rotating wave approximation. Simulations show that the polarization anisotropy of the two-photon excitation affects strongly the anisotropy of photobleaching. The two-photon area theorem is reformulated with taking into account the dynamical Stark shift and the contribution from the permanent dipole moments. In general the dynamical Stark shift does not allow complete population of the excited state, but it can be compensated by detunings in atoms. A dynamical theory of the sequential two-photon absorption of  microsecond pulses  is developed to explore the role of transverse inhomogeneity of the light beam on optical limiting properties.  The propagation of ultrashort laser pulses in nondipolar and dipolar media is investigated with special attention to the generation of superfluorescence and supercontinuum and the formation of attosecond pulses. The second part of the thesis addresses the interaction of molecules with x-ray radiation.  We explore here the role of nuclear dynamics in resonant Auger scattering. Multimode simulations of the Auger spectra of ethylene molecule explain the main spectral features of the experimental spectra and show that the spectral profiles are formed mainly due to six vibrational modes. We predict the Doppler splitting of the atomic peak in resonant Auger scattering from SF6 molecule for circularly polarized x-rays. This effect is confirmed by the recent experiment. A new scheme of x-ray pump-probe spectroscopy, namely, resonant inelastic x-ray scattering accompanied by core-hole hopping induced by strong laser fields is suggested. The laser-induced promotion of core holes opens the symmetry forbidden scattering channels and gives rise to new spectral lines in the x-ray scattering spectrum. The strength of the symmetry forbidden lines becomes strong when  the time of Rabi flopping is shorter than the lifetime of the core-excited state. We study the role of propagation of femtosecond x-ray free-electron pulses on the Auger process. Simulations show  that there exists a strong competition between Auger decay and stimulated emission. The Auger yield and Auger branching ratio are strongly suppressed in the course of pulse propagation.

  • Self-Probing Spectroscopy of the SF6 Molecule: A Study of the Spectral Amplitude and Phase of the High Harmonic Emission
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: The Journal of Physical Chemistry Part A: Molecules, Spectroscopy, Kinetics, Environment and General Theory. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1520-5215. ; 119:23, s. 6111-6122
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present characterizations of the attosecond pulse train produced in the high harmonic generation (HHG) from SF6 molecules irradiated by a strong pulsed laser field at 800 nm. At harmonic order 17, we observe a minimum in the amplitude of the emitted spectrum and a corresponding distortion in the phase. Our experimental results are compared to two models: a multicenter interference model focused on the effect of the structure of the SF6 molecule in HHG and a model focused on the interferences between multiple ionization channels in HHG. We find that the experimental results agree very well with the multiple ionization channels model, illustrating that HHG in molecules can be very complex and that it provides insights of the intramolecular electron dynamics during the interaction process.

  • Revised nomenclature and classification of inherited ichthyoses : Results of the First Ichthyosis Consensus Conference in Sorèze 2009
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: The Journal of American Academy of Dermatology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0190-9622 .- 1097-6787. ; 63:4, s. 607-641
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: Inherited ichthyoses belong to a large, clinically and etiologically heterogeneous group of mendelian disorders of cornification, typically involving the entire integument. Over the recent years, much progress has been made defining their molecular causes. However, there is no internationally accepted classification and terminology. OBJECTIVE: We sought to establish a consensus for the nomenclature and classification of inherited ichthyoses. METHODS: The classification project started at the First World Conference on Ichthyosis in 2007. A large international network of expert clinicians, skin pathologists, and geneticists entertained an interactive dialogue over 2 years, eventually leading to the First Ichthyosis Consensus Conference held in Sorèze, France, on January 23 and 24, 2009, where subcommittees on different issues proposed terminology that was debated until consensus was reached. RESULTS: It was agreed that currently the nosology should remain clinically based. "Syndromic" versus "nonsyndromic" forms provide a useful major subdivision. Several clinical terms and controversial disease names have been redefined: eg, the group caused by keratin mutations is referred to by the umbrella term, "keratinopathic ichthyosis"-under which are included epidermolytic ichthyosis, superficial epidermolytic ichthyosis, and ichthyosis Curth-Macklin. "Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis" is proposed as an umbrella term for the harlequin ichthyosis, lamellar ichthyosis, and the congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma group. LIMITATIONS: As more becomes known about these diseases in the future, modifications will be needed. CONCLUSION: We have achieved an international consensus for the classification of inherited ichthyosis that should be useful for all clinicians and can serve as reference point for future research.

  • Impact of liver tumour burden, alkaline phosphatase elevation, and target lesion size on treatment outcomes with Lu-177-Dotatate : an analysis of the NETTER-1 study
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. - : SPRINGER. - 1619-7070 .- 1619-7089. ; 47:10, s. 2372-2382
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose To assess the impact of baseline liver tumour burden, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) elevation, and target lesion size on treatment outcomes with Lu-177-Dotatate. Methods In the phase 3 NETTER-1 trial, patients with advanced, progressive midgut neuroendocrine tumours (NET) were randomised to 177Lu-Dotatate (every 8 weeks, four cycles) plus octreotide long-acting release (LAR) or to octreotide LAR 60 mg. Primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). Analyses of PFS by baseline factors, including liver tumour burden, ALP elevation, and target lesion size, were performed using Kaplan-Meier estimates; hazard ratios (HRs) with corresponding 95% CIs were estimated using Cox regression. Results Significantly prolonged median PFS occurred with Lu-177-Dotatate versus octreotide LAR 60 mg in patients with low (< 25%), moderate (25-50%), and high (> 50%) liver tumour burden (HR 0.187, 0.216, 0.145), and normal or elevated ALP (HR 0.153, 0.177), and in the presence or absence of a large target lesion (diameter > 30 mm; HR, 0.213, 0.063). Within the Lu-177-Dotatate arm, no significant difference in PFS was observed amongst patients with low/moderate/high liver tumour burden (P = 0.7225) or with normal/elevated baseline ALP (P = 0.3532), but absence of a large target lesion was associated with improved PFS (P = 0.0222). Grade 3 and 4 liver function abnormalities were rare and did not appear to be associated with high baseline liver tumour burden. Conclusions Lu-177-Dotatate demonstrated significant prolongation in PFS versus high-dose octreotide LAR in patients with advanced, progressive midgut NET, regardless of baseline liver tumour burden, elevated ALP, or the presence of a large target lesion. : NCT01578239, EudraCT: 2011-005049-11

  • Two-photon-induced x-ray emission in neon atoms
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Physical Review A. Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics. - 1050-2947 .- 1094-1622. ; 82:4, s. 043430-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We investigated the resonant x-ray emission from a neon atom induced by the two-photon population of a double-core-hole excited state. Two qualitatively different schemes of this process are studied: The first one involves an off-resonant intermediate single-core-hole state; the second scheme passes through a resonant core-ionized intermediate state. The numerical simulations of the resonant x-ray emission performed for different peak intensities and pulse durations show significant population of the double-core-hole final states. Therefore, rather strong two-photon absorption-induced x-ray emission is predicted for both studied schemes. Thus, high counting rates in experimental measurements are expected.
