  • The metallic quasi-1D spin-density-wave compound NaV2O4 studied by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV. - 0368-2048 .- 1873-2526. ; 224, s. 79-83
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to follow the valence band and near Fermi edge electronic band structure in the quasi-1D compound NaV2O4. In this current study we have acquired the very first high-quality, high-resolution ARPES data from this material. Our data clearly reveal two distinct dispersive bands that cross the Fermi level at different k(F). This is a clear signature that the electronic properties of this material is affected by the presence of a mixed valence state on the different vanadium chains and possibly also the low-temperature magnetic spin order.

  • Magnetic phase diagram of K 2 Cr 8 O 16 clarified by high-pressure muon spin spectroscopy
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Scientific Reports. - : Nature Publishing Group. - 2045-2322. ; 9:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The K 2 Cr 8 O 16 compound belongs to a series of quasi-1D compounds with intriguing magnetic properties that are stabilized through a high-pressure synthesis technique. In this study, a muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance (μ + SR) technique is used to investigate the pressure dependent magnetic properties up to 25 kbar. μ + SR allows for measurements in true zero applied field and hereby access the true intrinsic material properties. As a result, a refined temperature/pressure phase diagram is presented revealing a novel low temperature/high pressure (p C1 = 21 kbar) transition from a ferromagnetic insulating to a high-pressure antiferromagnetic insulator. Finally, the current study also indicates the possible presence of a quantum critical point at p C2 ~ 33 kbar where the magnetic order in K 2 Cr 8 O 16 is expected to be fully suppressed even at T = 0 K.

  • Electronic structure of ZnO(0001) studied by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy
  • 1997
  • Ingår i: Surface Science. - 0039-6028 .- 1879-2758. ; 373:2-3, s. 409-417
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The electronic structure of the ZnO(0001) surface was studied by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. The recorded normal emission spectra give information about the Valence band states as well as the Zn 3d states. The dispersions of the four valence bands observed in the (0001) direction were compared with theory and are in good agreement with recent calculations which consider the Zn 3d electrons as part of the valence band. The Zn 3d states are seen to separate into two groups of four and six bands, which show dispersion with k(perpendicular to). This is in agreement with theoretical results but the location of these states were not accurately predicted. The present photoemission results show that they lie around 10.5 eV below E(F). Two surface states were observed on the (0001) surface. One, at 7.5 eV binding energy, was predicted by theory and is interpreted as arising from the ''back-bondings'' of the Zn 4s-O 2p mixed bulk states. The other one at 4.5 eV below E(F), most likely Zn 4p-0 2p derived, was not predicted by theoretical calculations and this is discussed further in the text. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

  • Laboratory diagnosis of Lyme neuroborreliosis: a comparisonof three CSF anti-Borrelia antibody assays
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. - : Springer Publishing Company. - 0934-9723 .- 1435-4373. ; 33, s. 797-803
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The diagnosis of Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) requires the detection of intrathecal synthesis of Borrelia-specific antibodies, but in very early disease, the sensitivity may be low. We compared the performance of the second-generation IDEIA Lyme Neuroborreliosis test (Oxoid), based on purified native flagellum antigen, with two newly developed tests based on several recombinant antigens for the diagnosis of LNB. Patients investigated for LNB during 2003 through 2007 were included (n = 175); 52 with definite LNB, four with possible LNB and 119 non-LNB patients. Serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were analysed with the IDEIA Lyme Neuroborreliosis (Oxoid), VIDAS Lyme IgG (bioMérieux) and recomBead Borrelia IgM and IgG (Mikrogen) assays. Intrathecal antibody indices (AIs) were calculated according to the manufacturers’ protocols. The IDEIA test performed with an overall sensitivity (IgM and IgG AIs taken together) of 88 % and a specificity of 99 %. The VIDAS test showed a sensitivity of 86 % and a specificity of 97 %. An overall sensitivity of 100 % and a specificity of 97 % were achieved by the recomBead test. We conclude that the three assays performed equally well regarding specificity, but our data suggest an improved diagnostic sensitivity with the recomBead Borrelia test.
