  • The first visual object tracking segmentation VOTS2023 challenge results
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 2023 IEEE/CVF International conference on computer vision workshops (ICCVW). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9798350307443 - 9798350307450 ; , s. 1788-1810
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking Segmentation VOTS2023 challenge is the eleventh annual tracker benchmarking activity of the VOT initiative. This challenge is the first to merge short-term and long-term as well as single-target and multiple-target tracking with segmentation masks as the only target location specification. A new dataset was created; the ground truth has been withheld to prevent overfitting. New performance measures and evaluation protocols have been created along with a new toolkit and an evaluation server. Results of the presented 47 trackers indicate that modern tracking frameworks are well-suited to deal with convergence of short-term and long-term tracking and that multiple and single target tracking can be considered a single problem. A leaderboard, with participating trackers details, the source code, the datasets, and the evaluation kit are publicly available at the challenge website1

  • Growth of winter wheat adapting to climate warming may face more low-temperature damage
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Climatology. - : Wiley. - 0899-8418 .- 1097-0088. ; 43:4, s. 1970-9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • China's surface air temperature is increasing due to global warming, so it is interesting that how low temperatures would be changed during the growth period of winter wheat in future. We focused on the low temperatures of winter wheat from 2021 to 2050, using temperatures under the high emission scenario Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 (RCP8.5) projected by the RegCM4.4 regional climate model. The results showed that the annual mean temperature was projected to increase by 0.42°C⋅decade−1 in the northern and by 0.35°C⋅decade−1 in the southern winter wheat region. Furthermore, the temperature was expected to increase rapidly in spring, which could advance the dates of flowering and the start of the grain-filling period. Using the genetic parameters determined by the calibration and validation of WOFOST and bias-corrected projected meteorological data, simulations of winter wheat growth were performed over the winter wheat region for 2021–2050. The simulated number of days to the flowering period of winter wheat for 2041–2050 was on average 6.5 days less than in 2021–2030, due to the spring warming. Because of the earlier start of the growing season, winter wheat could face negative effects by being subjected to low temperatures. Indeed, the number of low-temperature days was projected to increase by 110% from 2041 to 2050 compared to 2021–2030, and the number of killing degree days (KDDs) is projected to increase by 120% at the same time. If the number of days to flowering did not change, the number of low-temperature days and KDDs only changed slightly, showing that the negative influence of low temperature was mainly caused by the advancement of the flowering date. The effect of low temperature on growth was underestimated when the response of winter wheat growth to global warming was not considered.

  • Nitro group as a new anchoring group for organic dyes in dye-sensitized solar cells
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 48:53, s. 6663-6665
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An organic dye JY1 bearing a nitro group was designed, synthesized and applied in DSCs. An unusual colour change was observed when the voltage applied to the device was reversed which was accompanied by a five-fold increase in the cell efficiency. We propose that applying a bias enabled the attachment of nitro groups to the TiO2 surface.

  • miR-124-3p Suppresses the Invasiveness and Metastasis of Hepatocarcinoma Cells via Targeting CRKL
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences. - : Frontiers Media SA. - 2296-889X .- 2296-889X. ; 7
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Abnormal expressions of microRNAs are involved in growth and progression of human cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). An adaptor protein CRKL plays a pivotal role in HCC growth, whereas miR-124-3p downregulation is associated with clinical stage and the poor survival of patients. However, the relationship between miR-124-3p and CRKL and the molecular mechanisms through which they regulate HCC metastasis remains unclear. In the current work, we explored miR-124-3p and its correlation with CRKL expression in HCC patient tissues. We found that miR-124-3p deficiency is inversely co-related with CRKL overexpression in tumorous tissues of HCC patients, which was also consistent in HCCLM3 and Huh7 HCC cell lines. Target validation data shows that miR-124-3p directly targets CRKL. The overexpression of miR-124-3p reverses the CRKL expression at both mRNA and protein levels and inhibits the cell development, migration, and invasion. Mechanistic investigations showed that CRKL downregulation suppresses the ERK pathway and EMT process, and concomitant decrease in invasion and metastasis of HCC cells. The expressions of key molecules in the ERK pathway such as RAF, MEK, ERK1/2, and pERK1/2 and key promoters of EMT such as N-cadherin and vimentin were downregulated, whereas E-cadherin, a key suppression indicator of EMT, was upregulated. MiR-124-3p-mediated CRKL suppression led to BAX/BCL-2 increase and C-JUN downregulation, which inhibited the cell proliferation and promoted the apoptosis in HCC cells. Collectively, our data illustrates that miR-124-3p acts as an important tumor-suppressive miRNA to suppress HCC carcinogenesis through targeting CRKL. The miR-124-3p-CRKL axial regulated pathway may offer valuable indications for cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment.

  • Zurich Statement on Future Actions on Per - and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs)
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of Environmental Health Perspectives. - 0091-6765 .- 1552-9924. ; 126:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Per - and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are man-made chemicals that contain at least one perfluoroalkyl moiety, -CnF2n-. To date, over 4,000 unique PFASs have been used in technical applications and consumer products, and some of them have been detected globally in human and wildlife biomonitoring studies. Because of their extraordinary persistence, human and environmental exposure to PFASs will be a long-term source of concern. Some PFASs such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) have been investigated extensively and thus regulated, but for many other PFASs, knowledge about their current uses and hazards is still very limited or missing entirely. To address this problem and prepare an action plan for the assessment and management of PFASs in the coming years, a group of more than 50 international scientists and regulators held a two-day workshop in November, 2017. The group identified both the respective needs of and common goals shared by the scientific and the policy communities, made recommendations for cooperative actions, and outlined how the science-policy interface regarding PFASs can be strengthened using new approaches for assessing and managing highly persistent chemicals such as PFASs.

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: it aims to adopt deep transfer learning combined with Digital Twins (DTs) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) medical image enhancement. Methods: MRI image enhancement method based on metamaterial composite technology is proposed by analyzing the application status of DTs in medical direction and the principle of MRI imaging. On the basis of deep transfer learning, MRI super-resolution deep neural network structure is established. To address the problem that different medical imaging methods have advantages and disadvantages, a multi-mode medical image fusion algorithm based on adaptive decomposition is proposed and verified by experiments. Results: the optimal Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) of 34.11dB can be obtained by introducing modified linear element and loss function of deep transfer learning neural network structure. The Structural Similarity Coefficient (SSIM) is 85.24%. It indicates that the MRI truthfulness and sharpness obtained by adding composite metasurface are improved greatly. The proposed medical image fusion algorithm has the highest overall score in the subjective evaluation of the six groups of fusion image results. Group III had the highest score in Magnetic Resonance Imaging- Positron Emission Computed Tomography (MRI-PET) image fusion, with a score of 4.67, close to the full score of 5. As for the objective evaluation in group I of Magnetic Resonance Imaging- Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (MRI-SPECT) images, the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Relative Average Spectral Error (RASE) and Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) are the highest, which are 39.2075, 116.688, and 0.594, respectively. Mutual Information (MI) is 5.8822.Conclusion: the proposed algorithm has better performance than other algorithms in preserving spatial details of MRI images and color information direction of SPECT images, and the other five groups have achieved similar results.

  • DNA Computing-Based Multi-Source Data Storage Model in Digital Twins
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications, and Applications (TOMCCAP). - : Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). - 1551-6857 .- 1551-6865. ; 19:3, s. 1-16
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The work aims to study the application of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) multi-source data storage in Digital Twins (DT). Through the investigation of the research status of DT and DNA computing, the work puts forward the concept of DNA multi-source data storage for DT. Raptor code is improved from the design direction of degree distribution function, and six degree function distribution schemes are proposed in turn in the process of describing the research method. Additionally, a quaternary dynamic Huffman coding method is applied in DNA data storage, combined with the improved concatenated code as the error correction code. Considering the content of cytosine deoxynucleotide (C) and guanine deoxynucleotide Guanine (G) and the distribution of homopolymer in DNA storage, the work proposes and verifies an improved concatenated code algorithm Deoxyribonucleic Acid-Improved Concatenated code (DNA-ICC). The results show that while the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) increases, the Bit Error Rate (BER) decreases gradually and the trend is similar. But the anti-interference ability of the degree distribution function optimized by the probability transfer method is better. The BER of DNA-ICC scheme decreases with the decrease of error probability, which is stronger than other error correction codes. Compared with the original concatenated code, it saves at least 1.65 s, and has a good control effect on homopolymer. When the size of homopolymer exceeds 4 nt, the probability of homopolymer is only 0.44%. The proposed Quaternary dynamic Huffman code and concatenated error correction code have excellent performance.
