  • A superluminous supernova lightened by collisions with pulsational pair-instability shells
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Nature Astronomy. - 2397-3366. ; 7:7, s. 779-789
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Superluminous supernovae are among the most energetic stellar explosions in the Universe, but their energy sources remain an open question. Here we present long-term observations of one of the closest examples of the hydrogen-poor superluminous supernovae subclass SLSNe-I, supernova SN 2017egm, revealing the most complicated known luminosity evolution of SLSNe-I. Three distinct post-peak bumps were recorded in its light curve collected at about 100–350 days after maximum brightness, challenging current popular power models such as magnetar, fallback accretion, and interaction between ejecta and a circumstellar shell. However, the complex light curve can be well modelled by successive interactions with multiple circumstellar shells with a total mass of about 6.8–7.7 M⊙. In this scenario, large energy deposition from interaction-induced reverse shocks results in ionization of neutral oxygen in the supernova ejecta and hence a much lower nebular-phase line ratio of [O I] λ6,300/([Ca II] + [O II]) λ7,300 (~0.2) compared with that derived for other superluminous and normal stripped-envelope supernovae. The pre-existing multiple shells indicate that the progenitor of SN 2017egm experienced pulsational mass ejections triggered by pair instability within 2 years before explosion, in robust agreement with theoretical predictions for a pre-pulsation helium-core mass of 48–51 M⊙.

  • Data-Driven Controlled Synthesis of Oriented Quasi-Spherical CsPbBr3 Perovskite Materials
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Angewandte Chemie International Edition. - : WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH. - 1433-7851 .- 1521-3773. ; 63:14
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Controlled synthesis of lead-halide perovskite crystals is challenging yet attractive because of the pivotal role played by the crystal structure and growth conditions in regulating their properties. This study introduces data-driven strategies for the controlled synthesis of oriented quasi-spherical CsPbBr3, alongside an investigation into the synthesis mechanism. High-throughput rapid characterization of absorption spectra and color under ultraviolet illumination was conducted using 23 possible ligands for the synthesis of CsPbBr3 crystals. The links between the absorption spectra slope (difference in the absorbance at 400 nm and 450 nm divided by a wavelength interval of 50 nm) and crystal size were determined through statistical analysis of more than 100 related publications. Big data analysis and machine learning were employed to investigate a total of 688 absorption spectra and 652 color values, revealing correlations between synthesis parameters and properties. Ex situ characterization confirmed successful synthesis of oriented quasi-spherical CsPbBr3 perovskites using polyvinylpyrrolidone and Acacia. Density functional theory calculations highlighted strong adsorption of Acacia on the (110) facet of CsPbBr3. Optical properties of the oriented quasi-spherical perovskites prepared with these data-driven strategies were significantly improved. This study demonstrates that data-driven controlled synthesis facilitates morphology-controlled perovskites with excellent optical properties.

  • Novel Approach on Developing TiO2-Supported Heteropolyacids Catalyst for the Efficient Conversion of Xylose to Furfural
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Energy & Fuels. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0887-0624 .- 1520-5029. ; 36:14, s. 7599-7607
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The conversion of biomass-derived monosaccharides to value-added platform compounds, regarded as the alternative biofuels precursors, has attracted increasing attention. This work provides a novel approach on developing efficient and recyclable catalyst for biorefining. Herein, a titania-supported tungstophosphoric acid (TPA-TiO2) nanocomposite catalyst with advantages in acidity flexibility and catalytic stability was proposed for the efficient dehydration of xylose to furfural. The loading of the active component of TPA played an important role in the acidity and Lewis/Brønsted acids distribution of the catalyst. The structure characterization of the catalyst showed that the TPA particles were distributed well in TiO2 support. After the optimization of catalytic reaction conditions, the xylose conversion could approach to 96.12% while the furfural yield of 76.71% was obtained at 190 °C for 60 min catalyzed by TiO2-TPA-3 in a methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK)–water biphasic solvent system. It was still about 80% of the initial yield after the fifth recycling of the TiO2-supported heteropolyacids catalyst. Furthermore, the reaction kinetics of xylose dehydration to furfural was investigated. The catalytic system in this work had a lower activation energy for xylose dehydration, and the decrease in furfural yield was mainly caused by the side reaction of furfural with intermediates. This work provides a novel approach on developing efficient and recyclable catalyst for biorefining.

  • Pollen production estimates (PPEs) and fall speeds for major tree taxa and relevant source areas of pollen (RSAP) in Changbai Mountain, northeastern China
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology. - 0034-6667. ; 216, s. 92-100
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For model-based quantitative reconstructions of past vegetation cover on the scale of landscapes, pollen productivity estimates (PPEs) are key input parameters. In this study, we employed a random sampling strategy to collect moss polsters at 20 sites in Changbai Mountain, northeastern China. A detailed vegetation survey within 1000-m radius around each sampling point was carried out and digitized vegetation maps were used for, vegetation data compilation. A forest map at the scale of 1:25,000 was used to extract information about vegetation for the area between 1000 and 5000 m from each sampling point. Using the ERV (Extended R-Value) model, pollen productivity was estimated for Larix, Pinus, Juglans, Ulmus, Tilia, Betula and Fraxinus relative to Quercus. Estimates of pollen fall speeds for the eight taxa as well as the relevant source area of pollen (RSAP) were also obtained. Three different ERV sub-models were tested against the data. The sub-model 3 produced the best goodness of fit and the PPE values calculated with this sub-model show that BMA (5.04), Pinus (3.11), Juglans (1.94) and Ulmus (1.40) are high pollen producers with higher PPEs than Quercus while Fraxinus (0.76), Larix (0.30), Tilia (0.16) are low pollen producers compared to Quercus. The high pollen producers are all anemophilous species, while low pollen producing plants include both entomophilous, such as Fraxinus, Tilia and anemophilous species such as Larix. The estimated RSAP for the eight tree pollen taxa is about 2000-2500 m. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Optimizing critical metals recovery and correlative decontamination from MSWI fly ash: Evaluation of an integrating two-step leaching hydrometallurgical process
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Cleaner Production. - : Elsevier BV. - 0959-6526. ; 368
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • While municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash is classified as hazardous waste, it can also serve as an urban mining source for numerous precious metals. Of particular interest are antimony (Sb) and zinc (Zn); the former of which is a strategic and critical metal that is being rapidly depleted, putting society at high risk for supply shortages. In this work, a two-step leaching method for recovering Sb and Zn from MSWI fly ash is proposed. Furthermore, the leaching behavior and adsorption mechanism of Sb in the MSWI fly ash waste stream were also investigated. Results from the first constant pH leaching tests (CPLT) showed that under diluted acidic condition, the maximum amount of Sb released from fly ash was ∼20%. In addition, at pH 4.0, 67% of the fly ash was dissolved, while 79.3% and 12.1% of the Zn and Sb, respectively, were recovered. After optimizing and executing a second Sb leaching procedure (6 M HCl solution at 60 °C), >80% of the Sb was recovered. Thus, the proposed two-step leaching process, consisting of extraction followed by decontamination using a magnetic HAP@CoFe2O4 adsorbent, can eliminate the Sb in fly ash effluent with a removal efficiency >95%. Moreover, this process produces less toxic products and lowers the effluent residue concentration. As such, the two-step process described herein is suggested for Sb and Zn recovery from fly ash; as it not only enables precious metal recovery, but also aids in treating secondary waste streams produced from urban mining.

  • Label-free quantitative comparison of cerebrospinal fluid glycoproteins and endogenous peptides in subjects with Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, and healthy individuals.
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Proteomics. Clinical applications. - : Wiley. - 1862-8354 .- 1862-8346. ; 10:12, s. 1225-1241
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The goal of this study is to investigate putative molecular dynamic changes in cerebrospinal fluids (CSFs) collected from individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) as compared to healthy controls. The CSF samples from 12 subjects comprised of four cognitively normal individuals and eight patients with MCI and AD, respectively. Two aliquots of each CSF samples (total 1 mL) of each participant are used for this study. Endogenous peptide separations are performed using 10000 molecular weight cut-off filters followed by LC-MS/MS identification and quantitation while lectin-enrichment chromatography is used to enrich glycoproteins in CSF followed by trypsin digestion and subsequent LC-MS/MS for shotgun identification and label-free quantitation.Using an optimized submicrogram peptide separation with molecular weight cut-off filtration and an in house-constructed database, 645 peptides are identified. Glycoproteins are enriched by lectin affinity chromatography, resulting in 795 identified proteins. The discovery and alterations of proSAAS-derived peptides and transthyretin are described and their roles in AD are discussed.Comprehensive identification of endogenous CSF peptidome is achieved. Fifteen proteins are found to be differentially expressed among the three groups. The dynamic changes of transthyretin are reported for the first time.

  • Knowledge graph and function block based Digital Twin modeling for robotic machining of large-scale components
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing. - : Elsevier BV. - 0736-5845 .- 1879-2537. ; 85, s. 102609-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Robotic machining is a potential method for machining large-scale components (LSCs) due to its low cost and high flexibility. However, the low stiffness of robots and complex machining process of LSCs result in a lack of alignment between the physical process and digital models, making it difficult to realize the robotic machining of LSCs. The recent Digital Twin (DT) concept shows potential in terms of representing and modeling physical processes. Therefore, this study proposes a robotic machining DT for LSCs. However, the current DT is not capable of knowledge representation, multi-source data integration, optimization algorithm implementation, and real-time control. To address these issues, Knowledge Graph (KG) and Function Block (FB) are employed in the proposed robotic machining DT. Here, robotic machining related information, such as the machining parameters and errors, is represented in the virtual space by building the KG, whereas the FBs are responsible for integrating and applying the algorithms for process execution and optimization based on real-world events. Moreover, a novel adaptive process adjustment strategy is proposed to improve the efficiency of the process execution. Finally, a prototype system of the robotic machining DT is developed and validated by an experiment on robotic milling of the assembly interface for an LSC. The results demonstrate that the robotic machining is successfully optimized and improved by the proposed method.
