  • Effects of rent dependency on quality of government
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Economics of Governance. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1435-6104 .- 1435-8131. ; 13:2, s. 145-168
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper introduces quality of government rather than regime type as dependent variable in studies of political effects of natural resources. It consists of two parts. First, it argues for an effect of fiscal dependency of oil and gas rents on quality of government. Second, it finds significant, negative effects of oil and gas rent dependency on three empirical indicators of quality of government-low corruption, bureaucratic quality and legal impartiality-in a sample of 139 states in the period 1984-2006. The results hold for inclusion of control variables such as regime type, income, region and religion.

  • The Swedish version of the Voice Handicap Index adapted for singers
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Logopedics, Phoniatrics, Vocology. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1401-5439 .- 1651-2022. ; 35:3, s. 129-137
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study evaluates a Swedish version of the Voice Handicap Index adapted for singers. A total of 96 healthy singers and 30 singer-patients completed the questionnaire. Validity and reliability, internal coherence, and group differences were assessed. The singer- patient group had significantly higher scores than the control group. Reliability was confirmed by high Cronbach's (> 0.78) for test-retest scores, and for each of the sub-scales. Test-retest stability in both groups was confirmed by high correlation values alpha (> 0.8). Overall scores compared closely to those from previous reports. The Swedish translation of the adapted VHI for singers (RHI-s) is valid and reliable and shows sensitivity to the singer's concerns. It can be considered a useful tool in the clinical assessment of Swedish healthy or pathological singers.

  • An intervention targeting social, communication and daily activity skills in children and adolescents with Down syndrome and autism: a pilot study
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment. ; 15, s. 2049-2056
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: To evaluate whether an intervention, targeting deficits in social communication, interaction and restricted activities in children and adolescents with Down syndrome and autism could lead to enhanced participation in family and school activities. Methods: The intervention included education for parents and school staff about autism, and workshops to identify social-communication and daily living activities that would be meaningful for the child to practice at home and at school. Thereafter, a three-month period of training for the child followed. Outcome measures comprised evaluation of goal achievement for each child, the "Family Strain Index" questionnaire and a visual scale pertaining to the parents' general opinion about the intervention. Results: On average, more than 90% of the goals were (to some extent or completely) achieved at home and at school. The mean scores of the "Family Strain Index" were almost identical at the follow-up to those before intervention. The evaluation supported that the use of strategies, intended to facilitate activities and communication, remained largely 18 months after start of the intervention. Conclusion: Despite the group involved in this study being composed of older children and adolescents, most of whom had severe and profound intellectual disability, the goal achievements and parents' views on the intervention were encouraging.

  • A new poolability test for cointegrated panels
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Journal of Applied ECONOMETRICS. - 0883-7252. ; 26:1, s. 56-88
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper proposes a new test of the null hypothesis that the parameters in a cointegrated panel data regression are equal across the cross-section. The asymptotic distribution of the new test statistic is derived and simulation results are provided to suggest that it performs very well in small samples. An empirical application to the monetary exchange rate model is also provided.
