  • The first visual object tracking segmentation VOTS2023 challenge results
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 2023 IEEE/CVF International conference on computer vision workshops (ICCVW). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9798350307443 - 9798350307450 ; , s. 1788-1810
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking Segmentation VOTS2023 challenge is the eleventh annual tracker benchmarking activity of the VOT initiative. This challenge is the first to merge short-term and long-term as well as single-target and multiple-target tracking with segmentation masks as the only target location specification. A new dataset was created; the ground truth has been withheld to prevent overfitting. New performance measures and evaluation protocols have been created along with a new toolkit and an evaluation server. Results of the presented 47 trackers indicate that modern tracking frameworks are well-suited to deal with convergence of short-term and long-term tracking and that multiple and single target tracking can be considered a single problem. A leaderboard, with participating trackers details, the source code, the datasets, and the evaluation kit are publicly available at the challenge website1

  • Analysis of Heritability and Shared Heritability Based on Genome-Wide Association Studies for 13 Cancer Types
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Journal of the National Cancer Institute. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0027-8874 .- 1460-2105. ; 107:12
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Studies of related individuals have consistently demonstrated notable familial aggregation of cancer. We aim to estimate the heritability and genetic correlation attributable to the additive effects of common single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for cancer at 13 anatomical sites. Methods: Between 2007 and 2014, the US National Cancer Institute has generated data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for 49 492 cancer case patients and 34 131 control patients. We apply novel mixed model methodology (GCTA) to this GWAS data to estimate the heritability of individual cancers, as well as the proportion of heritability attributable to cigarette smoking in smoking-related cancers, and the genetic correlation between pairs of cancers. Results: GWAS heritability was statistically significant at nearly all sites, with the estimates of array-based heritability, h(l)(2), on the liability threshold (LT) scale ranging from 0.05 to 0.38. Estimating the combined heritability of multiple smoking characteristics, we calculate that at least 24% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 14% to 37%) and 7% (95% CI = 4% to 11%) of the heritability for lung and bladder cancer, respectively, can be attributed to genetic determinants of smoking. Most pairs of cancers studied did not show evidence of strong genetic correlation. We found only four pairs of cancers with marginally statistically significant correlations, specifically kidney and testes (rho = 0.73, SE = 0.28), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and pediatric osteosarcoma (rho = 0.53, SE = 0.21), DLBCL and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) (rho = 0.51, SE = 0.18), and bladder and lung (rho = 0.35, SE = 0.14). Correlation analysis also indicates that the genetic architecture of lung cancer differs between a smoking population of European ancestry and a nonsmoking Asian population, allowing for the possibility that the genetic etiology for the same disease can vary by population and environmental exposures. Conclusion: Our results provide important insights into the genetic architecture of cancers and suggest new avenues for investigation.

  • Measurements of Strain and Bandgap of Coherently Epitaxially Grown Wurtzite InAsP-InP Core-Shell Nanowires
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Nano Letters. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1530-6984 .- 1530-6992. ; 19:4, s. 2674-2681
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report on experimental determination of the strain and bandgap of InAsP in epitaxially grown InAsP-InP core-shell nanowires. The core-shell nanowires are grown via metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy. The as-grown nanowires are characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, micro-photoluminescence (μPL) spectroscopy, and micro-Raman (μ-Raman) spectroscopy measurements. We observe that the core-shell nanowires are of wurtzite (WZ) crystal phase and are coherently strained with the core and the shell having the same number of atomic planes in each nanowire. We determine the predominantly uniaxial strains formed in the core-shell nanowires along the nanowire growth axis and demonstrate that the strains can be described using an analytical expression. The bandgap energies in the strained WZ InAsP core materials are extracted from the μPL measurements of individual core-shell nanowires. The coherently strained core-shell nanowires demonstrated in this work offer the potentials for use in constructing novel optoelectronic devices and for development of piezoelectric photovoltaic devices.

  • Enhanced rectifying performance by asymmetrical gate voltage for BDC20 molecular devices
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: RSC Advances. - : Royal Society of Chemistry. - 2046-2069. ; 4:32, s. 16537-16544
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • By applying the asymmetrical gate voltage on the 1,4-bis (fullero[c]pyrrolidin-1-yl) benzene BDC20 molecule, we investigate theoretically its electronic transport properties using the density functional theory and nonequilibrium Greens function formalism for a unimolecule device with metal electrodes. Interestingly, the rectifying characteristic with very high rectification ratio, 91.7 and 24.0, can be obtained when the gate voltage is asymmetrically applied on the BDC20 molecular device. The rectification direction can be tuned by the different gate voltage applying regions. The rectification behavior is understood in terms of the evolution of the transmission spectrum and projected density of states spectrum with applied bias combined with molecular projected self-consistent Hamiltonian states analyses. Our finding implies that to realize and greatly promote rectifying performance of the BDC20 molecule the variable gate voltage applying position might be a key

  • Rectifying behaviors of an Au/(C-20)(2)/Au molecular device induced by the different positions of gate voltage
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: RSC ADVANCES. - : RSC Publishing. - 2046-2069. ; 2:30, s. 11349-11353
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The electronic transport properties of a gated Au/(C-20)(2)/Au molecular device are studied using nonequilibrium Greens function in combination with density functional theory. The results show that different applied positions of the external transverse gate voltage can effectively tune the current-voltage (I-V) characteristic of molecular devices. Rectifying behaviors of the device can be realized when the gate voltage is applied asymmetrically on the left C-20 molecule, and the rectification directions can also be modulated by the positive or negative value of the gate voltage. These results provide an important theoretical support to experiments and the design of a molecular rectifier.

  • Mitigation strategies of air pollution : case studies of China and the United States from a consumption perspective
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Environmental Science and Policy. - : Elsevier. - 1462-9011 .- 1873-6416. ; 128, s. 24-34
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Sino-US trade has been widely analyzed in academic circles as a typical case of bilateral trade. However, the structural pathways by which the US final demand contributes to Chinese air pollution emissions have not been well quantified and analyzed. This study combines an environmental extended multi-regional input-output (EEMRIO) analysis with structural path analysis (SPA) to analyze the evolution and structural patterns of PM2.5 emissions in China caused by 1764 types of final demand products in the US. It was found that the average annual growth rate of PM2.5 emissions in China due to the US final demand was 4.83% during 1995–2015. The results showed that before the global financial crisis, the embodied PM2.5 emissions in Nonmetal mineral products exported from China to the US were continuously decreasing, while embodied PM2.5 exports in Machinery and equipment were rapidly increasing. The direct impact of American demand on China was weakened, with its share dropped by more than half to 3.94%, but the indirect impact remained steady. The embodied PM2.5 emissions were also found to be gradually transitioning from the first production layer to the second and third, which relates to China's domestic economic development demand and environmental regulatory requirements. The maximum emission pathways for the major demand categories were identified, with emissions concentrated to Metallurgy and products and Sea transportation services. China should focus on specific industrial paths, implement comprehensive treatment of upstream and downstream, and achieve a low-emission industrial chain throughout the whole process to effectively reduce PM2.5 emissions.

  • An integrated optical mixer based on SU8 polymer for PDM-QPSK demodulation
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: IEEE Photonics Technology Letters. - 1041-1135. ; 23:20, s. 1490-1492
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This letter presents the design and fabrication of an optical mixer based on SU8 polymer for the demodulation of polarization division multiplexed-quadrature phase shift keying (PDM-QPSK) signals. The mixer consists of two novel polarization beam splitters (PBSs) and two 4 × 4 multimode interference (MMI) couplers. It is the first polymer-based optical mixer incorporated with PDM functionality. The experimental results show good performances of the mixer.

  • Sparse regularized joint projection model for identifying associations of non-coding RNAs and human diseases
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Knowledge-Based Systems. - Amsterdam : Elsevier. - 0950-7051 .- 1872-7409. ; 258
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Current human biomedical research shows that human diseases are closely related to non-coding RNAs, so it is of great significance for human medicine to study the relationship between diseases and non-coding RNAs. Current research has found associations between non-coding RNAs and human diseases through a variety of effective methods, but most of the methods are complex and targeted at a single RNA or disease. Therefore, we urgently need an effective and simple method to discover the associations between non-coding RNAs and human diseases. In this paper, we propose a sparse regularized joint projection model (SRJP) to identify the associations between non-coding RNAs and diseases. First, we extract information through a series of ncRNA similarity matrices and disease similarity matrices and assign average weights to the similarity matrices of the two sides. Then we decompose the similarity matrices of the two spaces into low-rank matrices and put them into SRJP. In SRJP, we innovatively use the projection matrix to combine the ncRNA side and the disease side to identify the associations between ncRNAs and diseases. Finally, the regularization term in SRJP effectively improves the robustness and generalization ability of the model. We test our model on different datasets involving three types of ncRNAs: circRNA, microRNA and long non-coding RNA. The experimental results show that SRJP has superior ability to identify and predict the associations between ncRNAs and diseases. © 2022 The Author(s)

  • Dual-Polarized End-Fire MM-Wave Mobile Terminal Antennas for 5G and Beyond: An Overview
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 16th UK-Europe-China Workshop on Millimetre Waves and Terahertz Technologies, UCMMT 2023 - Proceedings.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With the rapid advancement of 5G mobile communication, the mm-wave band has become a focus of technological innovation for mobile terminal antennas. Our group is dedicated to overcoming the technical problems in the design of mm-wave mobile terminal antennas, particularly in terms of small ground clearance, wide bandwidth, single layer and integrated package. Through systemic research and exploration on the implementation of end-fire dual polarization, a series of high-performance mm-wave terminal antenna solutions have been developed. These works are categorized into two types, low-profile dual-polarized end-fire antennas and high-gain dual-polarized end-fire antennas.
