  • The first visual object tracking segmentation VOTS2023 challenge results
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 2023 IEEE/CVF International conference on computer vision workshops (ICCVW). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9798350307443 - 9798350307450 ; , s. 1788-1810
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking Segmentation VOTS2023 challenge is the eleventh annual tracker benchmarking activity of the VOT initiative. This challenge is the first to merge short-term and long-term as well as single-target and multiple-target tracking with segmentation masks as the only target location specification. A new dataset was created; the ground truth has been withheld to prevent overfitting. New performance measures and evaluation protocols have been created along with a new toolkit and an evaluation server. Results of the presented 47 trackers indicate that modern tracking frameworks are well-suited to deal with convergence of short-term and long-term tracking and that multiple and single target tracking can be considered a single problem. A leaderboard, with participating trackers details, the source code, the datasets, and the evaluation kit are publicly available at the challenge website1

  • Direct Coupling of Plasmonic and Photonic Nanowires for Hybrid Nanophotonic Components and Circuits
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Nano letters (Print). - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1530-6984 .- 1530-6992. ; 9:12, s. 4515-4519
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report direct coupling of plasmonic and photonic nanowires using ultracompact near-field interaction. Photon-plasmon coupling efficiency up to 80% with coupling length down to the 200 nm level is achieved between individual Ag and ZnO nanowires. Hybrid nanophotonic components, including polarization splitters, Mach-Zehnder interferometers, and microring cavities, are fabricated out of coupled Ag and ZnO nanowires. These components offer relatively low loss with subwavelength confinement; a hybrid nanowire microcavity exhibits a Q-factor of 520.

  • Nanowaveguides and couplers based on hybrid plasmonic modes
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Applied Physics Letters. - : AIP Publishing. - 0003-6951 .- 1077-3118. ; 97:23, s. 231121-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Experimental demonstration of silicon nanowires based hybrid plasmonic waveguides and couplers with subwavelength mode confinement at the near infrared wavelength lambda = 980 nm are presented. By measuring the radiating light from the discontinuities in a nanowire, the estimated propagation length of the hybrid plasmonic waveguide is about 30 mu m (corresponding to a propagation loss of similar to 0.14 dB/mu m). For the coupler, the experimental results show that the hybrid plasmonic modes can be efficiently coupled between two overlapping nanowires only with a 1.9 mu m long coupling length.

  • Investigation on a novel post-combustion CO2 capture rotary adsorption wheel based on temperature swing adsorption
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Green Energy. - : TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC. - 1543-5075 .- 1543-5083.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Due to the strengths on compact structure and continuously operating ability, a rotary wheel device in rotating packed-bed configuration for adsorption process based on temperature swing has been proposed to achieve CO2 capture in engineering application. The 3D simulations of the rotary adsorption wheel for post-combustion CO2 capture based on non-equilibrium model have not been reported. In this study, considering the non-equilibrium of heat and mass transfer, the mathematical modeling was performed for temperature swing adsorption process in the rotary bisectional adsorption wheel for the cooling-and-feeding process and rinsing-and-heating process. Comparison with the experimental breakthrough data on the fixed packed-bed was performed to validate the model. Distributions of temperature and mass fraction in the rotary adsorption wheel were obtained in three dimensions, based on which a reasonable arrangement of fluid ducting should be set to meet the different concentration requirement of CO2 capture. There is an optimal rotating speed to make the adsorption-outlet N-2 concentration as high as possible and the desorption-outlet N-2 concentration as low as possible. Whether considering the adsorption enthalpy or not in the model can greatly impact the heat and mass transfer characteristics of rotary adsorption wheel. The effects of other parameters including particle size, porosity and adsorbent materials will be further analyzed in the future study.

  • Numerical study on dynamic performance of low temperature recuperator in a S-CO2 Brayton cycle
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Numerical Heat Transfer; Part A: Applications. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1040-7782 .- 1521-0634. ; 84:12, s. 1436-1458
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Transient response of the pinch point is crucial to the evaluations of the recuperator efficiency. A reheat and recompression cycle dynamic simulation system for supercritical CO2 is built, and a transient segmented model is developed to explore the dynamic characteristics of the recuperators. The operating conditions including inlet mass flowrate, temperature and pressure of the low temperature recuperator (LTR) change dramatically with the withdraw-mass variation, which causes different response characteristics of the pinch point. The pinch point gradually transfers from the cold end to the hot end of the LTR as the mass flowrate decreases. The higher pinch-point temperature difference leads to lower heat exchanger effectiveness, and the internal pinch point greatly weakens the recuperator performance. A new prediction model is proposed to quickly determine the pinch point location and analyze the operating conditions prone to cause internal pinch point. The range of split ratio in which the internal pinch point exists in the LTR is obtained. The lower-limit of split ratio variation is sensitive to the high- and low-pressures, the isentropic efficiency of the compressor, and the outlet temperature of the precooler, while the upper-limit of split ratio is only related to the pressures of the recuperator.

  • IgE responses to multiple allergen components among school-aged children in a general population birth cohort in Tokyo
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: World Allergy Organization Journal. - : Elsevier. - 1939-4551. ; 13:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Response patterns to allergen components among Japanese children have not been studied extensively. Objective: Our aim was to examine the differences in sensitization patterns at ages 5 years and 9 years to identify longitudinal changes in the degree and patterns of sensitization in a birth cohort of Japanese children. Methods: Our study enrolled 984 children at aged 5 years between 2008 and 2010, and 729 children aged 9 years between 2012 and 2014. Allergic diseases were assessed using the ISAAC and UK Working Party's Diagnostic Criteria. Serum-specific IgE titers to allergen components were measured by multiplex array ImmunoCAP ISAC when the children were aged 5 and 9 years. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed to characterize IgE sensitization to allergen components. Results: The prevalence of allergic rhinitis increased considerably over time (10.6%-31.2%). Furthermore, the sensitization prevalence to allergen-specific IgE (sIgE) also increased from 57.8% at age 5 years to 74.8% at age 9 years. IgE sensitization prevalence to Der f 1 (mites) was 42.1% at age 5 years and 54.3% at age 9 years. Furthermore, children were highly sensitized to Cry j 1 (Japanese cedar) (32.8% at age 5 years and 57.8% at age 9 years). Principle component analysis showed that sensitization to PR-10 cross-reactive components was independent of sensitization to mite and that no children acquired sensitization to pollen before acquiring sensitization to mite. Conclusions: The prevalence of allergic rhinitis and related allergen components increased from age 5 years to age 9 years in Japanese children.

  • Regional frequency analysis and spatio-temporal pattern characterization of rainfall extremes in the Pearl River Basin, China
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Journal of Hydrology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0022-1694 .- 1879-2707. ; 380:3-4, s. 386-405
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a method for regional frequency analysis and spatio-temporal pattern characterization of rainfall-extreme regimes (i.e. extremes, durations and timings) in the Pearl River Basin (PRB) using the well-known L-moments approach together with advanced statistical tests including stationarity test and serial correlation check, which are crucial to the valid use of L-moments for frequency analysis. Results indicate that: (1) the entire Pearl River Basin (40 sites) can be categorized into six regions by cluster analysis together with consideration of the topography and spatial patterns of mean precipitation in the basin. The results of goodness-of-fit measures indicate that the GNO, GLO, GEV, and PE3 distributions fit well for most of the basin for different HOM regions, but their performances are slightly different in term of curve fitting; (2) the estimated quantiles and their biases approximated by Monte Carlo simulation demonstrate that the results are reliable enough for the return periods of less than 100 years; (3) excessive precipitation magnitude records are observed at Guilin region of Guangxi Province and Fogang region of Guangdong Province, which have sufficient climate conditions (e.g. precipitation and humidity) responsible for the frequently occurred flood disasters in the regions. In addition, the spatial variations of precipitation in different return periods (Return period = 1, 10, 50 years to 100 years) increase from the upstream to downstream at the regional scale; (4) the seasonal patterns of precipitation extremes for different topographical regions are different. The major precipitation events of AM1R, AM3R, AM5R and AM7R in regions of low-elevation in lower (south-eastern) part of the basin occur mainly in May, June, July and August, while the main precipitation periods for the mountainous region upstream are June, July and August. Further analysis of the NCAR/NCEP reanalysis data indicates that the eastern Asian summer monsoon and typhoons (or hurricanes) are major metrological driving forces on the precipitation regimes. Additionally, topographical features (i.e. elevation, distance to the sea, and mountain’s influences) also exert different impacts on the spatial patterns of such regimes. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to conduct a systematic regional frequency analysis on various annual precipitation extremes (based on consecutive 1-, 3-, 5-, 7-day averages) and to establish the possible links to climate pattern and topographical features in the Pearl River Basin and even in China. These findings are expected to contribute to exploring the complex spatio-temporal patterns of extreme rainfall in this basin in order to reveal the underlying linkages between precipitation and floods from a broad geographical perspective.
