  • Evapotranspiration and water balance of high-elevation grassland on the Tibetan Plateau
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Journal of Hydrology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0022-1694. ; 533, s. 557-566
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-elevation grasslands of the Cyperaceae Kobresia pygmaea cover nearly half a million km2 on the Tibetan Plateau. As a consequence of climate change, precipitation patterns in this monsooninfluenced region may change with possible consequences for grassland productivity. Yet, not much is known about the water cycle in this second largest alpine ecosystem of the world. We measured the evapotranspiration of a high-elevation Kobresia pasture system at 4400 m a.s.l. in the south-eastern part of the plateau in two summers using three different approaches, weighable micro-lysimeters, eddy covariance measurements, and water balance modeling with the soil–plant–atmosphere transfer model SEWAB. In good agreement among the three approaches, we found ET rates of 4–6 mm d-1 in moist summer periods (June–August) and 2mmd-1 in dry periods, despite the high elevation and a leaf area index of only 1. Measured ET rates were comparable to rates reported from alpine grasslands at 1500–2500 m a.s.l. in temperate mountains, and also matched ET rates of managed lowland grasslands in the temperate zone. At the study site with 430 mm annual precipitation, low summer rainfall reduced ET significantly and infiltration into the subsoil occurred only in moist periods. Our results show that the evapotranspiration of high-elevation grasslands at 4400 m can be as high as in lowland grasslands despite large elevational changes in abiotic and biotic drivers of ET, and periodic water shortage is likely to influence large parts of the Tibetan Kobresia pastures.

  • Spectral Tuning, Stabilities under External Exposures, and Spontaneous Enhancement of Emission Intensity in Grown-into-Glass All-Inorganic Metal Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Laser and Photonics Reviews. - : Wiley. - 1863-8880 .- 1863-8899. ; 17:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Herein, the grown-into-glass (GIG) CsPbBr3:Ln3+ (Ln = La, Lu) nanocrystals (NCs) are designed and fabricated using an in situ nanocrystallization method. It is shown that a substitution of Pb2+ sites with Ln3+ ions leads to a blueshift of emission position induced by an increase of the bandgap of CsPbBr3. Additionally, the GIG-samples are found to feature excellent photoluminescent (PL) properties after being immersed respectively in water for 300 days at room temperature, boiling water for 12 h, and corrosive environments for 24 h, as well as recoverable PL intensity either after several cycles of heat-cooling experiments or after being continuously exposed to a 405 nm laser irradiation. Besides, a spontaneous enhancement of 20-25% of emission intensity during the 1-2.5 hours' stage of a 405 nm laser irradiation, attributed to the radiative recombination of charge carriers that can be de-trapped from trapping levels upon the laser light irradiation and that then spontaneously reinforces the emission intensity, is observed in the GIG-CsPbBr3:Ln3+ NCs. Finally, a white light-emitting prototype, with a CIE chromaticity coordinate at (0.4110, 0.3706), a color rendering index of 89 and a correlated color temperature of 3363 K is realized by combining the GIG-CsPbBr3 NCs, YAG:Ce and CaWO4:Eu phosphors.

  • The Kobresia pygmaea ecosystem of the Tibetan highlands – Origin, functioning and degradation of the world's largest pastoral alpine ecosystem: Kobresia pastures of Tibet
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Science of the Total Environment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0048-9697. ; 648, s. 754-771
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With 450,000 km2 Kobresia (syn. Carex) pygmaea dominated pastures in the eastern Tibetan highlands are the world's largest pastoral alpine ecosystem forming a durable turf cover at 3000–6000 m a.s.l. Kobresia's resilience and competitiveness is based on dwarf habit, predominantly below-ground allocation of photo assimilates, mixture of seed production and clonal growth, and high genetic diversity. Kobresia growth is co-limited by livestock-mediated nutrient withdrawal and, in the drier parts of the plateau, low rainfall during the short and cold growing season. Overstocking has caused pasture degradation and soil deterioration over most parts of the Tibetan highlands and is the basis for this man-made ecosystem. Natural autocyclic processes of turf destruction and soil erosion are initiated through polygonal turf cover cracking, and accelerated by soil-dwelling endemic small mammals in the absence of predators. The major consequences of vegetation cover deterioration include the release of large amounts of C, earlier diurnal formation of clouds, and decreased surface temperatures. These effects decrease the recovery potential of Kobresia pastures and make them more vulnerable to anthropogenic pressure and climate change. Traditional migratory rangeland management was sustainable over millennia, and possibly still offers the best strategy to conserve and possibly increase C stocks in the Kobresia turf.

  • Comparison and trend of perioperative outcomes between robot-assisted radical prostatectomy and open radical prostatectomy : nationwide inpatient sample 2009-2014
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International Brazilian Journal of Urology. - : Sociedade Brasileira de Urologia. - 1677-5538 .- 1677-6119. ; 46:5, s. 754-771
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: To make a further evaluation of perioperative outcomes between the robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and open radical prostatectomy (ORP), we conducted a comparison and trend analysis by using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) from 2009 to 2014.Materials and Methods: Adult prostate cancer patients with radical prostatectomy were abstracted from the NIS. RARP and ORP were identified according to the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification procedure codes. The perioperative outcomes included blood transfusion, intraoperative and postoperative complications, prolonged length of stay (pLOS), and in-hospital mortality. Propensity score matching method and multivariable logistic regression model were performed to adjust for the pre-defined covariates. The annual percent change (APC) was used to detect the change trend of rates for outcomes. Results: A total of 77.054 patients were included in our study. According to the results of propensity score matching analyses, RARP outperformed ORP in blood transfusion (1.96% vs. 9.40%), intraoperative complication (0.73% vs. 1.25%), overall postoperative complications (8.87% vs. 11.97%), and pLOS (13.39% vs. 36.70%). We also found that there was a significant decreasing tendency of incidence in blood transfusion (APC=-9.81), intraoperative complication (APC=-12.84), and miscellaneous surgical complications (APC=-14.09) for the RARP group. The results of multivariable analyses were almost consistent with those of propensity score matching analyses. Conclusions: The RARP approach has lower incidence rates of perioperative complications than the ORP approach, and there is a potential decreasing tendency of complication incidence rates for the RARP.

  • Hindgut Innate Immunity and Regulation of Fecal Microbiota through Melanization in Insects
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Journal of Biological Chemistry. - 0021-9258 .- 1083-351X. ; 287:17, s. 14270-14279
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Many insects eat the green leaves of plants but excrete black feces in an as yet unknown mechanism. Insects cannot avoid ingesting pathogens with food that will be specifically detected by the midgut immune system. However, just as in mammals, many pathogens can still escape the insect midgut immune system and arrive in the hindgut, where they are excreted out with the feces. Here we show that the melanization of hindgut content induced by prophenoloxidase, a key enzyme that induces the production of melanin around invaders and at wound sites, is the last line of immune defense to clear bacteria before feces excretion. We used the silkworm Bombyx mori as a model and found that prophenoloxidase produced by hindgut cells is secreted into the hindgut contents. Several experiments were done to clearly demonstrate that the blackening of the insect feces was due to activated phenoloxidase, which served to regulate the number of bacteria in the hindgut. Our analysis of the silkworm hindgut prophenoloxidase discloses the natural secret of why the phytophagous insect feces is black and provides insight into hindgut innate immunity, which is still rather unclear in mammals.

  • Catalytic cracking of biomass high-temperature pyrolysis tar using NiO/AC catalysts
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Green Energy. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1543-5075 .- 1543-5083. ; 12:8, s. 773-779
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nickel oxide supported on activated carbon (NiO/AC) catalysts were prepared and used for catalytic cracking of tars from inert high-temperature pyrolysis of biomass. Rice husk was selected as the feedstock, and pyrolyzed at 800 °C using a lab-scale pyrolysis set. The pyrolysis vapors were subjected to either thermal cracking or catalytic cracking under 500-700 °C. The results indicated the thermal cracking was not very efficient to convert the tars, while the catalytic cracking reduced both the light and heavy tars significantly. The yield of the light and heavy tars were decreased from 4.4 wt% and 1.9 wt% in the non-catalytic process to 0.2 wt% and 0.1 wt% in the catalytic process by the NiO/AC (4.3 wt%) at 700 °C. The catalytic cracking also increased the gas product remarkably, mainly the H2 and CO2. The catalytic performance of the NiO/AC catalyst could enhance at elevated catalytic temperatures and increased NiO content of the catalyst.

  • Consensus aware manufacturing service collaboration optimization under blockchain based Industrial Internet platform
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Computers & industrial engineering. - : PERGAMON-ELSEVIER SCIENCE LTD. - 0360-8352 .- 1879-0550. ; 135, s. 1025-1035
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To realize collaboration among distributed enterprises, manufacturing service collaboration on Industrial Internet platform is an efficient method. However, the low degree of participation resulted by the sense of distrust, dissatisfaction, and insecurity hinders the widely application of Industrial Internet platform. Therefore, a secure, trustworthy, and multi-user satisfied manufacturing service collaboration method is in urgent need. A blockchain based platform could be utilized to support collaboration among distributed participants to complete trustworthy transactions. In addition, in order to satisfy multiple users, there should be a suitable collaboration mechanism that allows interest-independent participants to fulfil their short/long-term expectations and guide them to a consensus. Based on the establishment of the underlying data and network layer of the blockchain, the collaboration optimization of manufacturing services based on consensus is proposed. By utilizing Memetic algorithm, both the long-term utility of providers and the short-term utility of consumers are combined to choose the optimal providers for the tasks. The providers are selected with higher satisfaction degree of consumers.

  • Long/short-term utility aware optimal selection of manufacturing service composition towards Industrial Internet platform
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 1551-3203 .- 1941-0050. ; 15:6, s. 3712-3722
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • As numerous Industrial Internet platforms emerge, manufacturing services are shared among multiple stakeholders more frequently than ever. The optimal selection of shared manufacturing service composition (MSC) should both promise the task completion and the stakeholders’ satisfaction. However, as commercial entities, stakeholders concentrate on not only the temporary benefits but also the long-term acquisitions. Most of the existing MSC problems neglect the stakeholders’ prospect on the manufacturing service sharing. This leads to the disappointment and dissatisfaction of the stakeholders with long-term expectations, who will abandon the participation in Industrial Internet platform. Therefore, the long/short-term preferences of various stakeholders should be satisfied and balanced. In this paper, the long/short-term preferences of three sides (provider, consumer, and operator) are discussed. And the models considering short-term utility of a consumer and long-term utility of providers, are established. The potential tasks assigned to providers are taken into account to estimate the long-term utility if the current task is accepted. Then, to solve the bi-objective optimization problem, an improved Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II algorithm, combining Tabu search and improved K-means mechanism, is proposed to find the optimal solution set. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is verified by the experimental results in terms of solution diversity, astringency and stability, in which a finding is further observed that the changes of consumers’ preferences have little impact on the long-term utility of providers.
