  • Genome-wide annotation of protein-coding genes in pig
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: BMC Biology. - : Springer Nature. - 1741-7007. ; 20:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: There is a need for functional genome-wide annotation of the protein-coding genes to get a deeper understanding of mammalian biology. Here, a new annotation strategy is introduced based on dimensionality reduction and density-based clustering of whole-body co-expression patterns. This strategy has been used to explore the gene expression landscape in pig, and we present a whole-body map of all protein-coding genes in all major pig tissues and organs. Results: An open-access pig expression map (www.rnaatlas.org ) is presented based on the expression of 350 samples across 98 well-defined pig tissues divided into 44 tissue groups. A new UMAP-based classification scheme is introduced, in which all protein-coding genes are stratified into tissue expression clusters based on body-wide expression profiles. The distribution and tissue specificity of all 22,342 protein-coding pig genes are presented. Conclusions: Here, we present a new genome-wide annotation strategy based on dimensionality reduction and density-based clustering. A genome-wide resource of the transcriptome map across all major tissues and organs in pig is presented, and the data is available as an open-access resource (www.rnaatlas.org), including a comparison to the expression of human orthologs.

  • Correlating the Hybridization of Local-Exciton and Charge-Transfer States with Charge Generation in Organic Solar Cells
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Advanced Energy Materials. - : WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH. - 1614-6832 .- 1614-6840. ; 13
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In organic solar cells with very small energetic-offset (& UDelta;ELE - CT), the charge-transfer (CT) and local-exciton (LE) states strongly interact via electronic hybridization and thermal population effects, suppressing the non-radiative recombination. Here, we investigated the impact of these effects on charge generation and recombination. In the blends of PTO2:C8IC and PTO2:Y6 with very small, ultra-fast CT state formation was observed, and assigned to direct photoexcitation resulting from strong hybridization of the LE and CT states (i.e., LE-CT intermixed states). These states in turn accelerate the recombination of both CT and charge separated (CS) states. Moreover, they can be significantly weakened by an external-electric field, which enhanced the yield of CT and CS states but attenuated the emission of the device. This study highlights that excessive LE-CT hybridization due to very low , whilst enabling direct and ultrafast charge transfer and increasing the proportion of radiative versus non-radiative recombination rates, comes at the expense of accelerating recombination losses competing with exciton-to-charge conversion process, resulting in a loss of photocurrent generation.

  • Novel N, P-containing oil-soluble ionic liquids with excellent tribological and anti-corrosion performance
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Tribology International. - : Elsevier. - 0301-679X .- 1879-2464. ; 132, s. 118-129
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two oil-soluble ionic liquids N, N-trimethyl-N-hexadecyl ammonium bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (NP-16))and 1,2-bis-N, N-dimethyl-N-cetylammonium bis (2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (NP-16-2-16) have been synthesized and investigated as a potential friction reduction and anti-wear lubricant additive with anti-corrosion properties. The results indicate that the addition of 1.0 wt % NP-16 into PAO10 can significantly reduce friction coefficient and improve its anti-wear performance under RT and 100 °C. The performance is obviously better than that of traditional additives ZDDP and tricresyl phosphate. PAO10 + 1.0 wt % NP-16 even outperformed the PAO10 with about 40% lower friction and 2 orders of magnitude less wear. The analysis results of SEM, EDS and XPS show that an FePO4 or nitrogen-containing tribofilm is formed on the friction interface when NP-16 and NP-16-2-16 are selected as additives, which play a key role in reducing friction and wear.

  • Physicochemical and tribological properties of gemini-type halogen-free dicationic ionic liquids
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Friction. - : Springer. - 2223-7690 .- 2223-7704. ; 9:2, s. 344-355
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A series of new halogen-free dicationic ionic liquids (ILs) with different alkyl chain lengths were prepared, and the relationship between the alkyl chain length, physicochemical and tribological properties of ILs, and their role as neat lubricant for steel-steel friction pairs, was investigated. Evaluation of stability during hydrolysis and copper strip corrosion test results show that synthetic ILs are stable and not corrosive to metal contacts, due to the halogen-free anions. The friction and wear test results indicate that ILs with long alkyl chains have excellent friction-reducing and anti-wear properties, especially at high temperatures. Based on the surface three-dimensional (3D) profiles, electrical contact resistance, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and the X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS) analysis of the worn surfaces of steel discs, we can conclude that the efficiency of ILs is due to the formation of high quality tribofilms that consist of both tribochemical reaction and ordered absorption films.

  • Circulating Tissue Factor-Positive Procoagulant Microparticles in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity. - : DOVE MEDICAL PRESS LTD. - 1178-7007. ; 12, s. 2819-2828
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aim: To investigate the count of circulating tissue factor-positive (TF+) procoagulant microparticles (MPs) in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).Methods: This case-control study included patients with T1DM and age and sex-matched healthy volunteers. The counts of phosphatidylserine-positive (PS+) MPs and TF(+)PS(+)MPs and the subgroups derived from different cell types were measured in the peripheral blood sample of the two groups using multicolor flow cytometric assay. We compared the counts of each MP between groups as well as the ratio of the TF(+)PS(+)MPs and PS(+)MPs (TF(+)PS(+)MPs/PS(+)MPs).Results: We recruited 36 patients with T1DM and 36 matched healthy controls. Compared with healthy volunteers, PS(+)MPs, TF(+)PS(+)MPs and TF(+)PS(+)MPs/PS(+)MPs were elevated in patients with T1DM (PS(+)MPs: 1078.5 +/- 158.08 vs 686.84 +/- 122.04/mu L, P <0.001; TF(+)PS(+)MPs: 202.10 +/- 47.47 vs 108.33 +/- 29.42/mu L, P <0.001; and TF(+)PS(+)MPs/PS(+)MPs: 0.16 +/- 0.04 vs 0.19 +/- 0.05, P = 0.004), mostly derived from platelet, lymphocytes and endothelial cells. In the subgroup analysis, the counts of total and platelet TF(+)PS(+)MPs were increased in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and with higher HbA1c, respectively. Conclusion: Circulating TF(+)PS(+)MPs and those derived from platelet, lymphocytes and endothelial cells were elevated in patients with T1DM.
