  • Performance of the diffusive gradients in thin films technique for measuring Ca and Mg in freshwater
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Analytica Chimica Acta. - 0003-2670 .- 1873-4324. ; 460:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Measurements of the major cations Ca and Mg by the technique of diffusive gradients in thin films (DGTs) were systematically evaluated. The concentration in solution was calculated using Fick's first law of diffusion from the directly measured flux to the DGT device. A selective cation exchange resin (Bio-Rad Chelex®100), which has been used extensively with DGT for trace metals, such as Cd2+, Cu2+ and Ni2+, was used for this work. Elution of Ca and Mg from the resin with 1 M HNO3 was very reproducible. Measurements of Ca and Mg concentrations in synthetic solutions agreed well with the theoretical predictions. The negative response on uptake caused by lowered pH was investigated. Uptake was found to decline below pH 5. The capacity of the DGT device for Ca and Mg was also investigated to establish maximum deployment times for given concentrations. Experiments with filtered and modified lake water show that DGT can be used to measure Ca and Mg when trace metals are present in the solution. An in situ deployment of DGT combined with an ultrafiltration study suggest that the Mg concentration measured by DGT is similar to the concentration found in the fraction <1 kDa.

  • In-situ growth of low-dimensional perovskite-based insular nanocrystals for highly efficient light emitting diodes
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Light. - : SPRINGERNATURE. - 2095-5545 .- 2047-7538. ; 12:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Regulation of perovskite growth plays a critical role in the development of high-performance optoelectronic devices. However, judicious control of the grain growth for perovskite light emitting diodes is elusive due to its multiple requirements in terms of morphology, composition, and defect. Herein, we demonstrate a supramolecular dynamic coordination strategy to regulate perovskite crystallization. The combined use of crown ether and sodium trifluoroacetate can coordinate with A site and B site cations in ABX(3) perovskite, respectively. The formation of supramolecular structure retard perovskite nucleation, while the transformation of supramolecular intermediate structure enables the release of components for slow perovskite growth. This judicious control enables a segmented growth, inducing the growth of insular nanocrystal consist of low-dimensional structure. Light emitting diode based on this perovskite film eventually brings a peak external quantum efficiency up to 23.9%, ranking among the highest efficiency achieved. The homogeneous nano-island structure also enables high-efficiency large area (1 cm(2)) device up to 21.6%, and a record high value of 13.6% for highly semi-transparent ones.

  • Chinese Citizen Satisfaction with Government Performance during COVID-19
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Contemporary China. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1067-0564 .- 1469-9400. ; 30:132, s. 930-944
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • While foreign pundits have alternatively blamed and praised the Chinese government’s handling of the COVID-19 virus, little is known about how citizens within China understand this performance. This article considers how satisfied Chinese citizens are with their government’s performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. It first considers the impact of authoritarian control, political culture, and/or actual government performance on citizen satisfaction. Then, it tests the consequences of satisfaction and specifically whether citizen satisfaction leads to greater trust. Analyzing data from the first post-COVID survey of its kind (n = 19,816) conducted from April 22 to 28 April 2020, the authors find that Chinese citizens have an overall high level of satisfaction, but that this satisfaction drops with each lower level of government. Further, authoritarian control, political culture, and awareness of government performance all contribute to citizen satisfaction and this in turn, has enhanced public support for the Chinese government.
