  • Regulation of functional groups enable the metal-free PDINH/GO advisable antibacterial photocatalytic therapy
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Chemical Engineering Journal. - : Elsevier BV. - 1385-8947. ; 451
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • N-type organic semiconductor perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid diimide (PDINH) are well-investigated photocatalyst. However, the photocatalytic potential for antibacterial therapy has been underexplored owing to the insufficient light absorption and rapid recombination of light-induced carriers. Herein, functional group-regulated is introduced by recrystallizing PDINH on the surface of GO in situ, endowing the PDINH/GO with enhanced photocatalytic properties, which harvest light energy across the full spectrum form ultraviolet to near-infrared. Simultaneously, the enhanced photogenerated carriers can activate Lewis base of GO to form an amide bond on the interface between bacteria and material, exhibiting high-efficient and steady bacteria trap. Compared with PDINH, both in vitro and in vivo all demonstrated PDINH/GO possess excellent antibacterial effect. In addition, as a non-metallic semiconductor, PDINH/GO shows capacity of enhancing epidermal cells proliferation and migration, resulting in successful infectious wound regeneration in mice and the side effects in vivo are negligible. Such the integration of wide-spectrum response, high efficiency of carrier separation, intentional bacterial capture and accelerated would healing of PDINH/GO not only enables an effective antibacterial therapy but also contributes to a successful example to activate nanomaterials by regulation of functional groups.

  • 2D Co metal-organic framework nanosheet as an oxidase-like nanozyme for sensitive biomolecule monitoring
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Rare Metals. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1001-0521 .- 1867-7185. ; 42:3, s. 797-805
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Nanozyme-based biomolecules sensitive and quantitative detection is an attractive strategy due to their high chemical, thermal stability and reactive activity. Here, we have synthesized a significant number of two-dimensional (2D) cobalt-metal-organic framework (Co-MOF) nanosheets with oxidase (OXD)-like activity using a facile solvothermal method in one pot for biomolecule monitoring. The synthesized Co-MOF nanosheets exhibit strong stability, higher specific surface area and more active sites due to their MOF structure. Such Co-MOF nanosheets with excellent OXD-like activity show adequate analytical performance in the quantitative determination of dopamine (DA) and glutathione (GSH) with a wider dynamic sensing range and lower detection limits (DA and GSH: 0.24 and 0.067 μmol·L−1, 3σ/slope, where σ is standard deviation of the blank). This work extends the application of 2D-MOF structures in bioassays and brings new insights into the application of OXD-like nanozymes in bioassays. • The RACE Project : Robustness by Autonomous Competence Enhancement
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Künstliche Intelligenz. - : Springer Berlin/Heidelberg. - 0933-1875 .- 1610-1987. ; 28:4, s. 297-304
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper reports on the aims, the approach, and the results of the European project RACE. The project aim was to enhance the behavior of an autonomous robot by having the robot learn from conceptualized experiences of previous performance, based on initial models of the domain and its own actions in it. This paper introduces the general system architecture; it then sketches some results in detail regarding hybrid reasoning and planning used in RACE, and instances of learning from the experiences of real robot task execution. Enhancement of robot competence is operationalized in terms of performance quality and description length of the robot instructions, and such enhancement is shown to result from the RACE system.

    • In this paper, an FIM (Fitness to Ideal Model)and a DLen (Description Length) based evaluation approachhas been developed to measure the benefit of learning from experienceto improve the robustness of the robot’s behavior. Theexperience based mobile artificial cognitive system architectureis briefly described and adopted by a PR2 service robot withinthe EU-FP7 funded project RACE. The robot conducts typicaltasks of a waiter. Temporal and lasting obstacles and standardtable items, as shown in the demonstrations of “Deal-withobstacles”and “Clear-table-intelligently”, are being adoptedin this work to test the proposed evaluation metrics, validateit on a real PR2 robot system and present the evaluationresults. The relationship between the FIM and DLen has beenvalidated. This work proposes an effective approach to evaluatea cognitive service robot system which enhances its performanceby learning.

  • GRiMeDB : the global river methane database of concentrations and fluxes
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Earth System Science Data. - : Copernicus Publications. - 1866-3508 .- 1866-3516. ; 15:7, s. 2879-2926
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Despite their small spatial extent, fluvial ecosystems play a significant role in processing and transporting carbon in aquatic networks, which results in substantial emission of methane (CH4) into the atmosphere. For this reason, considerable effort has been put into identifying patterns and drivers of CH4 concentrations in streams and rivers and estimating fluxes to the atmosphere across broad spatial scales. However, progress toward these ends has been slow because of pronounced spatial and temporal variability of lotic CH4 concentrations and fluxes and by limited data availability across diverse habitats and physicochemical conditions. To address these challenges, we present a comprehensive database of CH4 concentrations and fluxes for fluvial ecosystems along with broadly relevant and concurrent physical and chemical data. The Global River Methane Database (GriMeDB; 10.6073/pasta/f48cdb77282598052349e969920356ef, Stanley et al., 2023) includes 24ĝ€¯024 records of CH4 concentration and 8205 flux measurements from 5029 unique sites derived from publications, reports, data repositories, unpublished data sets, and other outlets that became available between 1973 and 2021. Flux observations are reported as diffusive, ebullitive, and total CH4 fluxes, and GriMeDB also includes 17ĝ€¯655 and 8409 concurrent measurements of concentrations and 4444 and 1521 fluxes for carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O), respectively. Most observations are date-specific (i.e., not site averages), and many are supported by data for 1 or more of 12 physicochemical variables and 6 site variables. Site variables include codes to characterize marginal channel types (e.g., springs, ditches) and/or the presence of human disturbance (e.g., point source inputs, upstream dams). Overall, observations in GRiMeDB encompass the broad range of the climatic, biological, and physical conditions that occur among world river basins, although some geographic gaps remain (arid regions, tropical regions, high-latitude and high-altitude systems). The global median CH4 concentration (0.20ĝ€¯μmolL-1) and diffusive flux (0.44ĝ€¯mmolm-2d-1) in GRiMeDB are lower than estimates from prior site-averaged compilations, although ranges (0 to 456ĝ€¯μmolL-1 and -136 to 4057ĝ€¯mmolm-2d-1) and standard deviations (10.69 and 86.4) are greater for this larger and more temporally resolved database. Available flux data are dominated by diffusive measurements despite the recognized importance of ebullitive and plant-mediated CH4 fluxes. Nonetheless, GriMeDB provides a comprehensive and cohesive resource for examining relationships between CH4 and environmental drivers, estimating the contribution of fluvial ecosystems to CH4 emissions, and contextualizing site-based investigations.

  • Fabrication of PAA-PETPTA Janus Microspheres with Respiratory Function for Controlled Release of Guests with Different Sizes
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Langmuir. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0743-7463 .- 1520-5827. ; 34:24, s. 7106-7116
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Poly(acrylic acid)–poly(ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate) (PAA–PETPTA) Janus microspheres with “respiratory” function for controlled release were prepared by polymerization of acrylic acid–ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate (AA–ETPTA) Janus microdroplets in a continuous oil phase in a simple capillary-based microfluidic device with the assistance of UV radiation. The flow rate ratios of AA and ETPTA phases and surfactant content in the continuous oil phase have a significant effect on the structure of the Janus microspheres. PAA part in the Janus microspheres has respiratory function for loading and release due to the different stimuli responses to different pHs. The hollow structure of PETPTA part with different sizes of opening serves as the host materials for PAA and could control release rate further due to the different opening sizes. The obtained PAA–PETPTA Janus microspheres showed high rhodamine B (RhB) loading of 860 mg g–1 and different controlled-release behavior in water with different pHs. The release rate increases with the increase of pH and the contact area of PAA part with water. The maximum controlled-release time for RhB was about 3 h in water with pH of 5. In addition, the Janus microspheres also showed controlled-release behavior for larger size guests, e.g., 150 nm polystyrene beads, which indicated a wide range of application. The loading and release behaviors for guests, for instance, for RhB, have almost no change even after six times of reuse, which indicated a high stability.

  • Evidence of hybridization states at the donor/acceptor interface : case of m-MTDATA/PPT
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 0953-8984 .- 1361-648X. ; 34:21, s. 214008-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We performed a spectroscopic study on the m-MTDATA (donor) and PPT (acceptor) molecular vertical heterostructure. The electronic properties of the donor/acceptor interface have been comprehensively characterized by synchrotron radiation-based photoelectron spectroscopy and near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure. The spectroscopic results reveal the existence of new hybridization states in the original molecular energy gap, likely attributed to the interaction between the donor and the acceptor molecules at the interface. Such hybridized states can have a significant impact on the charge transport in organic electronic devices based on donor-acceptor molecules and can explain the increased efficiency of device using such molecules.
