  • “Double-Cable” Conjugated Polymers with Linear Backbone toward High Quantum Efficiencies in Single-Component Polymer Solar Cells
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of the American Chemical Society. - : AMER CHEMICAL SOC. - 0002-7863 .- 1520-5126. ; 139:51, s. 18647-18656
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A series of "double-cable" conjugated polymers were developed for application in efficient single-component polymer solar cells, in which high quantum efficiencies could be achieved due to the optimized nanophase separation between donor and acceptor parts. The new double-cable polymers contain electron-donating poly(benzodithiophene) (BDT) as linear conjugated backbone for hole transport and pendant electron-deficient perylene bisimide (PBI) units for electron transport, connected via a dodecyl linker. Sulfur and fluorine substituents were introduced to tune the energy levels and crystallinity of the conjugated polymers. The double-cable polymers adopt a "face-on" orientation in which the conjugated BDT backbone and the pendant PBI units have a preferential pi-pi stacking direction perpendicular to the substrate, favorable for interchain charge transport normal to the plane. The linear conjugated backbone acts as a scaffold for the crystallization of the PBI groups, to provide a double-cable nanophase separation of donor and acceptor phases. The optimized nanophase separation enables efficient exciton dissociation as well as charge transport as evidenced from the high-up to 80%-internal quantum efficiency for photon-to-electron conversion. In single-component organic solar cells, the double-cable polymers provide power conversion efficiency up to 4.18%. This is one of the highest performances in single-component organic solar cells. The nanophase-separated design can likely be used to achieve high-performance single-component organic solar cells.

  • Characterization and sources of childhood PAEs exposure from residential airborne dust in China cities
  • 2025
  • Ingår i: Journal of Environmental Sciences(China). - : Elsevier. - 1001-0742 .- 1878-7320. ; 152, s. 1-13
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To explore the multicenter characteristics of endocrine-like phthalate esters (PAEs) in household dust and propose effective control strategies for global indoor public health. An on-site observational investigation was conducted in nine Chinese cities from 2018 to 2019. A total of 246 household dust samples were collected and analyzed for ten PAE congeners using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Questionnaires were used to gather information on building conditions, indoor behaviors, and ventilation habits. In residential dust from the nine cities, the total concentrations of the ten PAE congeners (∑PAEs) ranged from 0.921 to 29097.297 µg/g. Dicyclohexyl phthalate (DCHP) and di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) were the dominant congeners in ∑PAEs. Childhood exposure to PAEs through dust ingestion was four orders of magnitude higher than through inhalation, with a carcinogenic risk of 5.47 × 10−6 for DEHP exposure in household dust. Higher ∑PAEs concentrations were associated with higher temperature, double glazing, wall paint usage, television and computer use, and indoor plant growth. This multicenter on-site investigation confirmed PAE pollution characteristics and uncovered the inacceptable risk of daily DEHP exposure in household dust under real living conditions. Effective mitigation measures based on household-related information, residential characteristics, decoration materials, and lifestyle should be taken to build a healthy household environment.

  • Statistical analysis of whistler precursors upstream of foreshock transient shocks : MMS observations
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Geophysical Research Letters. - : American Geophysical Union (AGU). - 0094-8276 .- 1944-8007. ; 51:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using the high-time-resolution data from the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission, precursor waves upstream of foreshock transient (FT) shocks are statistically investigated using the four-spacecraft timing method. The wave frequencies and wave vectors determined in the plasma rest frame (PRF) are shown to follow the cold plasma dispersion relation for whistler waves. Combining with the feature of the right-hand polarization in the PRF, the precursors are identified as whistler-mode waves around the lower hybrid frequency. The occurrence of whistler precursors is independent of the Alfvén Mach number and the FT shock normal angle. More importantly, all the whistler precursors have group velocities pointing upstream in the shock frame, suggesting the dispersive radiation to be a possible generation mechanism. The study improves the understanding of not only the whistler precursors but also the overall FT shock dynamics.

  • Deep Learning for Additive Screening in Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Angewandte Chemie International Edition. - : WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH. - 1433-7851 .- 1521-3773. ; 61:37
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Additive engineering with organic molecules is of critical importance for achieving high-performance perovskite optoelectronic devices. However, experimentally finding suitable additives is costly and time consuming, while conventional machine learning (ML) is difficult to predict accurately due to the limited experimental data available in this relatively new field. Here, we demonstrate a deep learning method that can predict the effectiveness of additives in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with a high accuracy up to 96 % by using a small dataset of 132 molecules. This model can maximize the information of the molecules and significantly mitigate the duplicated problem that usually happened with previous models in ML for molecular screening. Very high efficiency PeLEDs with a peak external quantum efficiency up to 22.7 % can be achieved by using the predicated additive. Our work opens a new avenue for further boosting the performance of perovskite optoelectronic devices.

  • A Transcriptome-Wide Association Study Identifies Novel Candidate Susceptibility Genes for Pancreatic Cancer
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of the National Cancer Institute. - : Oxford University Press. - 0027-8874 .- 1460-2105. ; 112:10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Although 20 pancreatic cancer susceptibility loci have been identified through genome-wide association studies in individuals of European ancestry, much of its heritability remains unexplained and the genes responsible largely unknown. Methods: To discover novel pancreatic cancer risk loci and possible causal genes, we performed a pancreatic cancer transcriptome-wide association study in Europeans using three approaches: FUSION, MetaXcan, and Summary-MulTiXcan. We integrated genome-wide association studies summary statistics from 9040 pancreatic cancer cases and 12 496 controls, with gene expression prediction models built using transcriptome data from histologically normal pancreatic tissue samples (NCI Laboratory of Translational Genomics [n = 95] and Genotype-Tissue Expression v7 [n = 174] datasets) and data from 48 different tissues (Genotype-Tissue Expression v7, n = 74-421 samples). Results: We identified 25 genes whose genetically predicted expression was statistically significantly associated with pancreatic cancer risk (false discovery rate < .05), including 14 candidate genes at 11 novel loci (1p36.12: CELA3B; 9q31.1: SMC2, SMC2-AS1; 10q23.31: RP11-80H5.9; 12q13.13: SMUG1; 14q32.33: BTBD6; 15q23: HEXA; 15q26.1: RCCD1; 17q12: PNMT, CDK12, PGAP3; 17q22: SUPT4H1; 18q11.22: RP11-888D10.3; and 19p13.11: PGPEPI) and 11 at six known risk loci (5p15.33: TERT, CLPTMIL, ZDHHCIIB; 7p14.1: INHBA; 9q34.2: ABO; 13q12.2: PDX1; 13q22.1: KLF5; and 16q23.1: WDR59, CFDP1, BCAR1, TMEM170A). The association for 12 of these genes (CELA3B, SMC2, and PNMT at novel risk loci and TERT, CLPTMIL, INHBA, ABO, PDX1, KLF5, WDR59, CFDP1, and BCAR1 at known loci) remained statistically significant after Bonferroni correction. Conclusions: By integrating gene expression and genotype data, we identified novel pancreatic cancer risk loci and candidate functional genes that warrant further investigation.

  • Minimising efficiency roll-off in high-brightness perovskite light-emitting diodes
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Nature Communications. - : NATURE PUBLISHING GROUP. - 2041-1723. ; 9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Efficiency roll-off is a major issue for most types of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and its origins remain controversial. Here we present investigations of the efficiency roll-off in perovskite LEDs based on two-dimensional layered perovskites. By simultaneously measuring electroluminescence and photoluminescence on a working device, supported by transient photoluminescence decay measurements, we conclude that the efficiency roll-off in perovskite LEDs is mainly due to luminescence quenching which is likely caused by non-radiative Auger recombination. This detrimental effect can be suppressed by increasing the width of quantum wells, which can be easily realized in the layered perovskites by tuning the ratio of large and small organic cations in the precursor solution. This approach leads to the realization of a perovskite LED with a record external quantum efficiency of 12.7%, and the efficiency remains to be high, at approximately 10%, under a high current density of 500 mA cm(-2).

  • Towards a collaborative and integrated set of open tools for aircraft design
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: 51st AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition 2013. - Reston, Virigina : American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A third generation Multi-Disciplinary Analysis & Optimization setup includes the collaboration of a distributed team of disciplinary experts and their respective anylsis tool to perform aircraft design. The integration of these tools can be eased by the application of open source software leaving more resources for the actual design task. Within the scope of this paper three open tools for aircraft design (OpenVSP, CEASIOM and VAMPzero) are introduced and integrated via a common namespace (CPACS). A design study on a two-engine transport aircraft is set up as an exemplary workflow.

  • A framework for constrained control allocation using CFD-based tabular data
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: AIAA Aerosp. Sci. Meet. Incl. New Horiz. Forum Aerosp. Expos.. - Reston, Virigina : American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. - 9781600869501
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes a framework for control allocation problem using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) aerodata, which is represented by a multidimensional array of dimensionless coefficients of aerodynamic forces and moments, stored as a function of the state vector and control-surface deflections. The challenges addressed are, first, the control surface treatment for the automated generation of aerodata using CFD and, second, sampling and data fusion to allow the timely calculation of large data tables. In this framework, the generation of aerodynamic tables is described based on an efficient sampling/data fusion approach. Also, the treatment of aerodynamics of control surfaces is being addressed for three flow solvers: TORNADO, a vortex-lattice method, and two CFD codes, EDGE from the Swedis Defence Agency and PMB from the University of Liverpool. In TORNADO, the vortex points located at the trailing edge of the flaps are rotated around the hinge line to simulate the deflected surfaces. The transpiration boundary conditions approach is used for modeling moving flaps in EDGE, whereas, the surface deflection is achieved using mode shapes in PMB. The test cases used to illustrate the approaches is the Ranger 2000 fighter trainer and a reduced geometry description of Boeing 747-100. Data tables are then generated for the state vector and multiple control surface deflections. The look-up table aerodata are then used to resolve the control allocation problem under the constraint that each surface has an upper and lower limit of deflection angle.

  • Benchmarking ceasiom software to predict flight control and flying qualities of the B-747
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: 27th Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences 2010, ICAS 2010. - 9781617820496 ; , s. 2906-2912
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • CEASIOM, the Computerized Environment for Aircraft Synthesis and Integrated Optimization Methods, is a framework that integrates discipline-specific tools for conceptual design. At this early stage of the design it is very useful to be able to predict the flying and handling qualities of the aircraft. In order to do this for the configuration being studied, the aerodynamic database needs to be computed and coupled to the stability and control tools to carry out the analysis. This paper describes how the adaptivefidelity CFD module of CEASIOM computes the aerodynamic database of an aircraft configuration, and how that data is analyzed by the FCSDT module to determine the flying qualities and the control laws of the aircraft. The paper compares the predicted flying qualities with the flight-test data of the Boeing B747 aircraft in order to verify the goodness of the overall approach.
