  • Dense matter with eXTP
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Science China Physics, Mechanics & Astronomy. - : Science Press. - 1674-7348 .- 1869-1927. ; 62:2
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this White Paper we present the potential of the Enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry (eXTP) mission for determining the nature of dense matter; neutron star cores host an extreme density regime which cannot be replicated in a terrestrial laboratory. The tightest statistical constraints on the dense matter equation of state will come from pulse profile modelling of accretion-powered pulsars, burst oscillation sources, and rotation-powered pulsars. Additional constraints will derive from spin measurements, burst spectra, and properties of the accretion flows in the vicinity of the neutron star. Under development by an international Consortium led by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the eXTP mission is expected to be launched in the mid 2020s.

  • Rapid Dimming Followed by a State Transition: A Study of the Highly Variable Nuclear Transient AT 2019avd over 1000+ Days
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - 1538-4357 .- 0004-637X. ; 962:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The tidal disruption of a star around a supermassive black hole (SMBH) offers a unique opportunity to study accretion onto an SMBH on a human timescale. We present results from our 1000+ days monitoring campaign of AT 2019avd, a nuclear transient with tidal-disruption-event-like properties, with NICER, Swift, and Chandra. Our primary finding is that approximately 225 days following the peak of the X-ray emission, there is a rapid drop in luminosity exceeding 2 orders of magnitude. This X-ray dropoff is accompanied by X-ray spectral hardening, followed by a plateau phase of 740 days. During this phase, the spectral index decreases from 6.2 ± 1.1 to 2.3 ± 0.4, while the disk temperature remains constant. Additionally, we detect pronounced X-ray variability, with an average fractional rms amplitude of 47%, manifesting over timescales of a few dozen minutes. We propose that this phenomenon may be attributed to intervening clumpy outflows. The overall properties of AT 2019avd suggest that the accretion disk evolves from a super-Eddington to a sub-Eddington luminosity state, possibly associated with a compact jet. This evolution follows a pattern in the hardness-intensity diagram similar to that observed in stellar-mass BHs, supporting the mass invariance of accretion-ejection processes around BHs

  • Study of the Interfacial Oxidation of InP Quantum Dots Synthesized from Tris(dimethylamino)phosphine
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1944-8244 .- 1944-8252. ; 15:1, s. 1619-1628
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • InP quantum dots (QDs) are the most competitive in terms of environmentally friendly QDs. However, the synthesis of InP QDs requires breakthroughs in low-cost and safe phosphorus precursors such as tri(dimethylamino)phosphine [(DMA)3P]. It is found that even if the oxygen is completely avoided, there are still oxidation state defects at the core/shell interface of InP QDs. Herein, the record-breaking (DMA)3P-based red InP QDs were synthesized with the assist of HF processing to eliminate the InPOx defect and improve the fluorescence efficiency. The maximum photoluminescence quantum yield was 97.7%, which is the highest of the red InP QDs synthesized by the aminophosphine. The external quantum efficiency and brightness of the QD light-emitting diode device are also improved accordingly from 0.6% and 1276 cd·m-2 to 3.5% and 2355 cd·m-2, respectively.

  • Quality control project of NGS HLA genotyping for the 17th International HLA and Immunogenetics Workshop
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Human Immunology. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE INC. - 0198-8859 .- 1879-1166. ; 80:4, s. 228-236
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The 17th International HLA and Immunogenetics Workshop (IHIW) organizers conducted a Pilot Study (PS) in which 13 laboratories (15 groups) participated to assess the performance of the various sequencing library preparation protocols, NGS platforms and software in use prior to the workshop. The organizers sent 50 cell lines to each of the 15 groups, scored the 15 independently generated sets of NGS HLA genotyping data, and generated "consensus" HLA genotypes for each of the 50 cell lines. Proficiency Testing (PT) was subsequently organized using four sets of 24 cell lines, selected from 48 of 50 PS cell lines, to validate the quality of NGS HLA typing data from the 34 participating IHIW laboratories. Completion of the PT program with a minimum score of 95% concordance at the HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, HLA-DRB1 and HLA-DQB1 loci satisfied the requirements to submit NGS HLA typing data for the 17th IHIW projects. Together, these PS and PT efforts constituted the 17th IHIW Quality Control project. Overall PT concordance rates for HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, HLA-DPA1, HLA-DPB1, HLA-DQA1, HLA-DQB1, HLA-DRB1, HLA-DRB3, HLA-DRB4 and HLA-DRB5 were 98.1%, 97.0% and 98.1%, 99.0%, 98.6%, 98.8%, 97.6%, 96.0%, 99.1%, 90.0% and 91.7%, respectively. Across all loci, the majority of the discordance was due to allele dropout. The high cost of NGS HLA genotyping per experiment likely prevented the retyping of initially failed HLA loci. Despite the high HLA genotype concordance rates of the software, there remains room for improvement in the assembly of more accurate consensus DNA sequences by NGS HLA genotyping software.

  • Optimal corrosion resistance of cobalt-based dual-phase entropic alloys via compositional modulation of aluminum
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Materials Research and Technology. - : Elsevier BV. - 2238-7854. ; 24, s. 9225-9239
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A new category of Al-doped cobalt-based dual phase entropic alloys with high corrosion resistance properties was designed in the present work. CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagram) aided prediction was performed to facilitate the alloy design. Two groups of alloys have been extensively investigated by various techniques. One group was quenched in water from the homogenization temperature (i.e. 1200 °C) to room temperature. The other group was subsequently quenched in liquid nitrogen from room temperature. The microstructure of the proposed alloys was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Several kinds of electrochemical tests were performed to study the corrosion behaviors of the designed alloys in NaCl solution, including open circuit potential (OCP), polarization and cyclic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), electrochemical noise (ECN), linear voltammetry curves and staircase voltammetry scan, and Mott–Schottky method. The obtained results show that Al has a minor influence on the corrosion property of this series alloy with a 0 to 2 at.% Al addition. All the designed alloys hold quite acceptable corrosion resistance. In addition, a mechanical property, i.e. micro-hardness, is also provided as a supplement information. This work sheds light on the correlation between computational thermodynamics and corrosion behaviors in cobalt-based dual-phase entropic alloys, as well as to provide a feasibility study on the important role of CALPHAD method for a rapid development of a new category of high performance alloys.
