  • The first visual object tracking segmentation VOTS2023 challenge results
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 2023 IEEE/CVF International conference on computer vision workshops (ICCVW). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9798350307443 - 9798350307450 ; , s. 1788-1810
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking Segmentation VOTS2023 challenge is the eleventh annual tracker benchmarking activity of the VOT initiative. This challenge is the first to merge short-term and long-term as well as single-target and multiple-target tracking with segmentation masks as the only target location specification. A new dataset was created; the ground truth has been withheld to prevent overfitting. New performance measures and evaluation protocols have been created along with a new toolkit and an evaluation server. Results of the presented 47 trackers indicate that modern tracking frameworks are well-suited to deal with convergence of short-term and long-term tracking and that multiple and single target tracking can be considered a single problem. A leaderboard, with participating trackers details, the source code, the datasets, and the evaluation kit are publicly available at the challenge website1

  • A Molybdenum Disulfide Nanozyme with Charge-Enhanced Activity for Ultrasound-Mediated Cascade-Catalytic Tumor Ferroptosis
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Angewandte Chemie - International Edition. - : Wiley. - 1433-7851 .- 1521-3773. ; 62:11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The deficient catalytic activity of nanozymes and insufficient endogenous H2O2 in the tumor microenvironment (TME) are major obstacles for nanozyme-mediated catalytic tumor therapy. Since electron transfer is the basic essence of catalysis-mediated redox reactions, we explored the contributing factors of enzymatic activity based on positive and negative charges, which are experimentally and theoretically demonstrated to enhance the peroxidase (POD)-like activity of a MoS2 nanozyme. Hence, an acidic tumor microenvironment-responsive and ultrasound-mediated cascade nanocatalyst (BTO/MoS2@CA) is presented that is made from few-layer MoS2 nanosheets grown on the surface of piezoelectric tetragonal barium titanate (T-BTO) and modified with pH-responsive cinnamaldehyde (CA). The integration of pH-responsive CA-mediated H2O2 self-supply, ultrasound-mediated charge-enhanced enzymatic activity, and glutathione (GSH) depletion enables out-of-balance redox homeostasis, leading to effective tumor ferroptosis with minimal side effects.

  • Agro waste as a potential carbon feedstock for poly-3-hydroxy alkanoates production: Commercialization potential and technical hurdles
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Bioresource Technology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0960-8524 .- 1873-2976. ; 364
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The enormous production and widespread applications of non -biodegradable plastics lead to their accumulation and toxicity to animals and humans. The issue can be addressed by the development of eco-friendly strategies for the production of biopolymers by utilization of waste residues like agro residues. This will address two societal issues – waste management and the development of an eco-friendly biopolymer, poly-3-hydroxy alkanoates (PHAs). Strategies adopted for utilization of agro-residues, challenges and future perspectives are discussed in detail in this comprehensive review. The possibility of PHA properties improvements can be increased by preparation of blends.

  • Storm Surges in the Bohai Sea : The Role of Waves and Tides
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Water. - : MDPI AG. - 2073-4441. ; 12:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A storm surge is a complex phenomenon in which waves, tide and current interact. Even though wind is the predominant force driving the surge, waves and tidal phase are also important factors that influence the mass and momentum transport during the surge. Devastating storm surges often occur in the Bohai Sea, a semi-enclosed shallow sea in North China, due to extreme storms. However, the effects of waves on storm surges in the Bohai Sea have not been quantified and the mechanisms responsible for the higher surges that affect part of the Bohai Sea have not been thoroughly studied. In this study, we set up a storm surge model, considering coupled effects of tides and waves on the surges. Validation against measured data shows that the coupled model is capable of simulating storm surges in the Bohai Sea. The simulation results indicate that the longshore currents, which are induced by the large gradient of radiation stress due to wave deformation, are one of the main contributors to the higher surges occurring in some coastal regions. The gently varying bathymetry is another factor contributing to these surges. With such bathymetry, the wave force direction is nearly uniform, and pushes a large amount of water in that direction. Under these conditions, the water accumulates in some parts of the coast, leading to higher surges in nearby coastal regions such as the south coast of the Bohai Bay and the west and south coasts of the Laizhou Bay. Results analysis also shows that the tidal phase at which the surge occurs influences the wave–current interactions, and these interactions are more evident in shallow waters. Neglecting these interactions can lead to inaccurate predictions of the storm surges due to overestimation or underestimation of wave-induced set-up.

  • Limited preemptive scheduling of mixed time-triggered and event-triggered tasks
  • 2013
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Many embedded systems have complex timing constraints and, at the same time, have flexibility requirements which prohibit offline planning of the entire system. To support a mixture of time-triggered and event-triggered tasks, some industrial systems deploy a table-driven dispatcher for time-triggered tasks complemented with a preemptive scheduler to allocate the free time slots to event-driven tasks. Contrary to fully preemptive scheduling, limiting the preemptions of tasks to fixed preemptions points may reduce memory requirements and it alleviates the preemption costs in the system. We revisit slotshifting, which at run time mixes time-triggered and event-triggered tasks in a preemptive EDF schedule. In this paper, we extend slotshifting with limited-preemptive execution of event-triggered tasks. We present a synchronization protocol to arbitrate the executions of non-preemptive regions, so that time-triggered tasks keep meeting their timing constraints implicitly. Furthermore, we investigate how to disable preemptions of event-triggered tasks during the execution of the offline-scheduled time-triggered tasks, while keeping the feature of slotshifting to reallocate their slots of execution dynamically at run time.

  • A Novel Memetic Algorithm Incorporating Nelder-Mead Method in Fuzzy Controller Design
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Software Engineering (CiSE 2012). - 9781618960368 ; , s. 55-59
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nelder-Mead method is a powerful mathematical technique for multidimensional unconstrained optimization. The other merit of the Nelder-Mead method is that it does not require any derivative information, which makes it suitable for exploitation in non-smooth regions. This paper proposes a new memetic algorithm incorporating Nelder-Mead method for local search. Nelder-Mead method coupling with GA will lead to utilization of more information derived from mathematical principle in the search process, thereby increasing the efficiency of search. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated in a case study of optimization of a fuzzy control system.

  • Extreme Copper Isotope Fractionation Driven by Redox Oscillation During Gleysols Weathering in Mun River Basin, Northeast Thailand
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Geophysical Research - Earth Surface. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 2169-9003 .- 2169-9011. ; 128:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The fractionation of copper (Cu) isotope is a process related to the redox fluctuation during soil Cu biogeochemical cycling. For Cu isotope composition in weathered gleysols of tropical zones, the increased rates of redox fluctuations are assumed to occur during gleysol evolution due to the seasonal exchange of groundwater and river water. However, the impact of the frequency of redox fluctuations on soil Cu isotope signatures is rarely documented. Here, we analyzed the variations of Cu content and isotope fractionation in two low-humic gleysol profiles with different pedogenetic processes during weathering in the same basin (Mun River Basin), and found that the frequency of redox fluctuations could determine the magnitude of Cu isotope fractionation. We record an increased light Cu isotopes and identify the stable Cu(I) species retained in the residual soils with the increased frequency of redox fluctuation. Several processes contribute to Cu isotope fractionation at different soil horizons, but most isotope fractionation is related to the re-adsorption or re-precipitation by iron and manganese oxyhydroxide (i.e., ferrihydrite and pyrolusite), especially at the iron or manganese-rich zone. Cu isotope fractionation is sensitive to increased redox fluctuations in the terrestrial ecosystem, and may have significant implications for assessing soil ecological vulnerability under future climate change scenarios.
