  • Neural network based iterative learning control for magnetic shape memory alloy actuator with iteration-dependent uncertainties
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing. - : Elsevier BV. - 0888-3270 .- 1096-1216. ; 187
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The magnetic shape memory alloy based actuator (MSMA-BA) is an indispensable component mechanism for high-precision positioning systems as it possesses the advantages of high precision, low energy consumption, and large stroke. However, hysteresis is an intrinsic property of MSMA material, which seriously affects the positioning accuracy of MSMA-BA. In this study, we propose a multi meta-model approach incorporating the nonlinear auto-regressive moving average with exogenous inputs (NARMAX) and Bouc–Wen (BW) models to describe the complex dynamic hysteresis of MSMA-BA. In particular, the BW model is introduced into the NARMAX model as an exogenous variable function, and a wavelet neural network (WNN) is adopted to construct the nonlinear function of the multi meta-model. In addition, iterative learning control is combined with a WNN to improve its convergence speed. A two-valued function is employed in the controller design process, so as to make use of history iteration information in updating control input. The main contribution of this study is the convergence analysis of the proposed iteration learning controller with iteration-dependent uncertainties (non-strict repetition of the initial state and varying iteration length). The experiments conducted on the MSMA-BA illustrate the validity of the proposed control scheme.

  • Catalytic promiscuity of O-methyltransferases from Corydalis yanhusuo leading to the structural diversity of benzylisoquinoline alkaloids
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Horticulture Research. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 2662-6810 .- 2052-7276. ; 9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • O-methyltransferases play essential roles in producing structural diversity and improving the biological properties of benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (BIAs) in plants. In this study, Corydalis yanhusuo, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine due to the analgesic effects of its BIA-active compounds, was employed to analyze the catalytic characteristics of O-methyltransferases in the formation of BIA diversity. Seven genes encoding O-methyltransferases were cloned, and functionally characterized using seven potential BIA substrates. Specifically, an O-methyltransferase (CyOMT2) with highly efficient catalytic activity of both 4′- and 6-O-methylations of 1-BIAs was found. CyOMT6 was found to perform two sequential methylations at both 9- and 2-positions of the essential intermediate of tetrahydroprotoberberines, (S)-scoulerine. Two O-methyltransferases (CyOMT5 and CyOMT7) with wide substrate promiscuity were found, with the 2-position of tetrahydroprotoberberines as the preferential catalytic site for CyOMT5 (named scoulerine 2-O-methyltransferase) and the 6-position of 1-BIAs as the preferential site for CyOMT7. In addition, results of integrated phylogenetic molecular docking analysis and site-directed mutation suggested that residues at sites 172, 306, 313, and 314 in CyOMT5 are important for enzyme promiscuity related to O-methylations at the 6- and 7-positions of isoquinoline. Cys at site 253 in CyOMT2 was proved to promote the methylation activity of the 6-position and to expand substrate scopes. This work provides insight into O-methyltransferases in producing BIA diversity in C. yanhusuo and genetic elements for producing BIAs by metabolic engineering and synthetic biology.

  • Multicenter Consistency Assessment of Valvular Flow Quantification With Automated Valve Tracking in 4D Flow CMR
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging. - : Elsevier BV. - 1936-878X. ; 14:7, s. 1354-1366
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives: This study determined: 1) the interobserver agreement; 2) valvular flow variation; and 3) which variables independently predicted the variation of valvular flow quantification from 4-dimensional (4D) flow cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) with automated retrospective valve tracking at multiple sites. Background: Automated retrospective valve tracking in 4D flow CMR allows consistent assessment of valvular flow through all intracardiac valves. However, due to the variance of CMR scanners and protocols, it remains uncertain if the published consistency holds for other clinical centers. Methods: Seven sites each retrospectively or prospectively selected 20 subjects who underwent whole heart 4D flow CMR (64 patients and 76 healthy volunteers; aged 32 years [range 24 to 48 years], 47% men, from 2014 to 2020), which was acquired with locally used CMR scanners (scanners from 3 vendors; 2 1.5-T and 5 3-T scanners) and protocols. Automated retrospective valve tracking was locally performed at each site to quantify the valvular flow and repeated by 1 central site. Interobserver agreement was evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Net forward volume (NFV) consistency among the valves was evaluated by calculating the intervalvular variation. Multiple regression analysis was performed to assess the predicting effect of local CMR scanners and protocols on the intervalvular inconsistency. Results: The interobserver analysis demonstrated strong-to-excellent agreement for NFV (ICC: 0.85 to 0.96) and moderate-to-excellent agreement for regurgitation fraction (ICC: 0.53 to 0.97) for all sites and valves. In addition, all observers established a low intervalvular variation (≤10.5%) in their analysis. The availability of 2 cine images per valve for valve tracking compared with 1 cine image predicted a decreasing variation in NFV among the 4 valves (beta = −1.3; p = 0.01). Conclusions: Independently of locally used CMR scanners and protocols, valvular flow quantification can be performed consistently with automated retrospective valve tracking in 4D flow CMR.

  • Influences of Cr contents on oxidation behavior of WC-Co-Ni-Cr cemented carbides at 900 °C
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials. - 0263-4368 .- 2213-3917. ; 118
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Modification of binder composition is an effective way to improve the oxidation resistance of WC-Co-Ni-Cr cemented carbide. Since the adjustment of Ni and Cr contents in the Co-Ni-Cr binder alters the oxidation behavior and oxidation products, WC-Co-Ni-Cr cemented carbide is expected to achieve excellent oxidation resistance in severe service conditions. In this paper, the influences of Cr contents in Co-Ni-Cr binder phase with a fixed total amount of Co and Ni on the oxidation behavior of WC-Co-Ni-Cr cemented carbides at 900 °C was investigated. The oxide morphology and phase distribution were focused. The oxidation mechanism of WC-Co-Ni-Cr cemented carbide was discussed. It has been shown that Co-rich regions are preferentially oxidized in the initial stage of oxidation. As oxidation proceeds (60 min), the dominant oxidation product on the alloy surface is NiO. The oxidation resistance of the WC-Co-Ni-Cr cemented carbide increases with increasing Cr content in the binder. Compared to the series of WC-2Co-11Ni-xCr, WC-6.5Co-6.5Ni-xCr presents a better overall oxidation resistance due to the formation of Cr2O5 in the middle of the oxide layer.

  • Corrosion Behavior of WC-Co-(Ni)-(Cr) Cemented Carbide in Neutral Solution
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Xiyou Jinshu Cailiao Yu Gongcheng/Rare Metal Materials and Engineering. - 1002-185X. ; 49:1, s. 313-319
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Three groups of WC-Co-(Ni)-(Cr) cemented carbides with different binder phase compositions were prepared by powder metallurgy using WC, Co, Ni and Cr3C2 powders as raw materials. The corrosion behavior of the three alloys in neutral solution was studied by polarization curve test and immersion experiment. The corrosion mechanism was discussed by means of scanning electron microscopy, energy spectrum analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and EBSD. The results show that in neutral solution the corrosion of WC-Co and WC-Co-Cr cemented carbides is mainly caused by the selective dissolution of Co and the corrosion products after immersion are mainly composed of Co(OH)2. The corrosion resistance of WC-Co cemented carbide in neutral solution can be improved by the addition of Cr, which may be related to the decrease in the content of hcp-Co in the binder phase by adding Cr. Adding Ni and Cr together can further improve the corrosion resistance of WC-Co cemented carbide in neutral solution. After immersion for 480 h in Na2SO4 solution, the WC-Co-Ni-Cr alloy sample is just corroded slightly.

  • XPS and AES surface analysis of WC-Co-(Cr) cemented carbide after immersion in neutral solution
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Surface and Interface Analysis. - : Wiley. - 1096-9918 .- 0142-2421. ; 52:12, s. 845-849
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The binder phase Co in WC-Co cemented carbide is dissolved easily in corrosive media (even in neutral solution), which has limited its application in a wider range. In this paper, the influence of Cr on corrosion resistance of WC-Co immersed in neutral solution was studied, with a focus on the surface chemistry of the corrosion product. The results show that in neutral solution, the corrosion is mainly caused by the selective dissolution of Co and the dominant surface corrosion product after immersion is Co (OH)(2). The corrosion resistance of WC-Co cemented carbide can be improved by the addition of Cr. This can be explained by the formation of more protective chromium containing oxide on the binder phase of WC-Co-Cr alloy, leading to reduced corrosion rate.
