  • 4MOST : Project overview and information for the First Call for Proposals
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: The Messenger. - : European Southern Observatory. - 0722-6691. ; 175, s. 3-11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • We introduce the 4-metre Multi-Object Spectroscopic Telescope (4MOST), a new high-multiplex, wide-field spectroscopic survey facility under development for the four-metre-class Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA) at Paranal. Its key specifications are: a large field of view (FoV) of 4.2 square degrees and a high multiplex capability, with 1624 fibres feeding two low-resolution spectrographs (R = λ/Δλ ~ 6500), and 812 fibres transferring light to the high-resolution spectrograph (R ~ 20 000). After a description of the instrument and its expected performance, a short overview is given of its operational scheme and planned 4MOST Consortium science; these aspects are covered in more detail in other articles in this edition of The Messenger. Finally, the processes, schedules, and policies concerning the selection of ESO Community Surveys are presented, commencing with a singular opportunity to submit Letters of Intent for Public Surveys during the first five years of 4MOST operations.

  • 4MOST - 4-metre multi-object spectroscopic telescope
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering. - : SPIE. - 9780819491473 ; , s. 84460T-
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The 4MOST consortium is currently halfway through a Conceptual Design study for ESO with the aim to develop a wide-field (>3 square degree, goal >5 square degree), high-multiplex (>1500 fibres, goal 3000 fibres) spectroscopic survey facility for an ESO 4m-class telescope (VISTA). 4MOST will run permanently on the telescope to perform a 5 year public survey yielding more than 20 million spectra at resolution R∼5000 (λ=390-1000 nm) and more than 2 million spectra at R∼20,000 (395-456.5 nm & 587-673 nm). The 4MOST design is especially intended to complement three key all-sky, space-based observatories of prime European interest: Gaia, eROSITA and Euclid. Initial design and performance estimates for the wide-field corrector concepts are presented. Two fibre positioner concepts are being considered for 4MOST. The first one is a Phi-Theta system similar to ones used on existing and planned facilities. The second one is a new R-Theta concept with large patrol area. Both positioner concepts effectively address the issues of fibre focus and pupil pointing. The 4MOST spectrographs are fixed configuration two-arm spectrographs, with dedicated spectrographs for the high- and low-resolution fibres. A full facility simulator is being developed to guide trade-off decisions regarding the optimal field-of-view, number of fibres needed, and the relative fraction of high-to-low resolution fibres. The simulator takes mock catalogues with template spectra from Design Reference Surveys as starting point, calculates the output spectra based on a throughput simulator, assigns targets to fibres based on the capabilities of the fibre positioner designs, and calculates the required survey time by tiling the fields on the sky. The 4MOST consortium aims to deliver the full 4MOST facility by the end of 2018 and start delivering high-level data products for both consortium and ESO community targets a year later with yearly increments.

  • Polarization constraints on the X-ray corona in Seyfert Galaxies : MCG-05-23-16
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Monthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0035-8711 .- 1365-2966. ; 516:4, s. 5907-5913
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report on the first observation of a radio-quiet active galactic nucleus (AGN) in polarized X-rays: the Seyfert 1.9 galaxy MCG-05-23-16. This source was pointed at with the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) starting on 2022 May 14 for a net observing time of 486 ks, simultaneously with XMM-Newton (58 ks) and NuSTAR (83 ks). A polarization degree Π smaller than 4.7 per cent (at the 99 per cent confidence level) is derived in the 2–8 keV energy range, where emission is dominated by the primary component ascribed to the hot corona. The broad-band spectrum, inferred from a simultaneous fit to the IXPE, NuSTAR, and XMM-Newton data, is well reproduced by a power law with photon index Γ = 1.85 ± 0.01 and a high-energy cutoff EC = 120 ± 15 keV. A comparison with Monte Carlo simulations shows that a lamp-post and a conical geometry of the corona are consistent with the observed upper limit, a slab geometry is allowed only if the inclination angle of the system is less than 50°.

  • Psychometric Properties and Correlates of Precarious Manhood Beliefs in 62 Nations
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology. - : SAGE Publications. - 0022-0221 .- 1552-5422. ; 52:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Precarious manhood beliefs portray manhood, relative to womanhood, as a social status that is hard to earn, easy to lose, and proven via public action. Here, we present cross-cultural data on a brief measure of precarious manhood beliefs (the Precarious Manhood Beliefs scale [PMB]) that covaries meaningfully with other cross-culturally validated gender ideologies and with country-level indices of gender equality and human development. Using data from university samples in 62 countries across 13 world regions (N = 33,417), we demonstrate: (1) the psychometric isomorphism of the PMB (i.e., its comparability in meaning and statistical properties across the individual and country levels); (2) the PMB's distinctness from, and associations with, ambivalent sexism and ambivalence toward men; and (3) associations of the PMB with nation-level gender equality and human development. Findings are discussed in terms of their statistical and theoretical implications for understanding widely-held beliefs about the precariousness of the male gender role.

  • PAMELA : A satellite experiment for antiparticles measurement in cosmic rays
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science. - 0018-9499 .- 1558-1578. ; 51:3, s. 854-859
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PAMELA is a satellite-borne experiment that will study the antiproton and positron fluxes in cosmic rays in a wide range of energy (from 80 MeV up to 190 GeV for antiprotons and from 50 MeV up to 270 GeV for positrons) and with high statistics, and that will measure the antihelium/helium ratio with a sensitivity of the order of 10(-8). The detector will fly on-board a polar orbiting Resurs DK1 satellite, which will be launched into space by a Soyuz rocket in 2004 from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, for a 3-year-long mission. Particle identification and energy measurements are performed in the PAMELA apparatus using the following subdetectors: a magnetic spectrometer made up of a permanent magnet equipped with double-sided microstrip silicon detectors, an electromagnetic imaging calorimeter composed of layers of tungsten absorber and silicon detectors planes, a transition radiation detector made of straw tubes interleaved with carbon fiber radiators, a plastic scintillator time-of-flight and trigger system, a set of anticounter plastic scintillator detectors, and a neutron detector. The features of the detectors and the main results obtained in beam test sessions are presented.

  • Lyman continuum escape fraction of faint galaxies at z similar to 3.3 in the CANDELS/GOODS-North, EGS, and COSMOS fields with LBC
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 602
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Context. The reionization of the Universe is one of the most important topics of present-day astrophysical research. The most plausible candidates for the reionization process are star-forming galaxies, which according to the predictions of the majority of the theoretical and semi-analytical models should dominate the H I ionizing background at z greater than or similar to 3. Aims. We measure the Lyman continuum escape fraction, which is one of the key parameters used to compute the contribution of star-forming galaxies to the UV background. It provides the ratio between the photons produced at lambda <= 912 angstrom rest-frame and those that are able to reach the inter-galactic medium, i.e. that are not absorbed by the neutral hydrogen or by the dust of the galaxy's inter-stellar medium. Methods. We used ultra-deep U-band imaging (U = 30.2 mag at 1 sigma) from Large Binocular Camera at the Large Binocular Telescope (LBC/LBT) in the CANDELS/GOODS-North field and deep imaging in the COSMOS and EGS fields in order to estimate the Lyman continuum escape fraction of 69 star-forming galaxies with secure spectroscopic redshifts at 3.27 <= z <= 3.40 to faint magnitude limits (L = 0.2L*, or equivalently M-1500 similar to -19). The narrow redshift range implies that the LBC U-band filter exclusively samples the lambda <= 912 angstrom rest-frame wavelengths. Results. We measured through stacks a stringent upper limit (<1.7% at 1 sigma) for the relative escape fraction of H I ionizing photons from bright galaxies (L > L*), while for the faint population (L = 0.2L*) the limit to the escape fraction is less than or similar to 10%. We computed the contribution of star-forming galaxies to the observed UV background at z similar to 3 and find that it is not sufficient to keep the Universe ionized at these redshifts unless their escape fraction increases significantly (>= 10%) at low luminosities (M-1500 >= -19). Conclusions. We compare our results on the Lyman continuum escape fraction of high-z galaxies with recent estimates in the literature, and discuss future prospects to shed light on the end of the Dark Ages. In the future, strong gravitational lensing will be fundamental in order to measure the Lyman continuum escape fraction down to faint magnitudes (M-1500 similar to -16) that are inaccessible with the present instrumentation on blank fields. These results will be important in order to quantify the role of faint galaxies to the reionization budget.

  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Ground-based and Airborne Instrumentation for Astronomy V. - : SPIE. - 0277-786X .- 1996-756X. ; 9147
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • 4MOST is a wide-field, high-multiplex spectroscopic survey facility under development for the VISTA telescope of the European Southern Observatory (ESO). Its main science drivers are in the fields of galactic archeology, high-energy physics, galaxy evolution and cosmology. 4MOST will in particular provide the spectroscopic complements to the large area surveys coming from space missions like Gaia, eROSITA, Euclid, and PLATO and from ground-based facilities like VISTA, VST, DES, LSST and SKA. The 4MOST baseline concept features a 2.5 degree diameter field-of-view with similar to 2400 fibres in the focal surface that are configured by a fibre positioner based on the tilting spine principle. The fibres feed two types of spectrographs; similar to 1600 fibres go to two spectrographs with resolution R> 5000 (lambda similar to 390-930 nm) and similar to 800 fibres to a spectrograph with R> 18,000 (lambda similar to 392-437 nm & 515-572 nm & 605-675 nm). Both types of spectrographs are fixed-configuration, three-channel spectrographs. 4MOST will have an unique operations concept in which 5 year public surveys from both the consortium and the ESO community will be combined and observed in parallel during each exposure, resulting in more than 25 million spectra of targets spread over a large fraction of the southern sky. The 4MOST Facility Simulator (4FS) was developed to demonstrate the feasibility of this observing concept. 4MOST has been accepted for implementation by ESO with operations expected to start by the end of 2020. This paper provides a top-level overview of the 4MOST facility, while other papers in these proceedings provide more detailed descriptions of the instrument concept[1], the instrument requirements development[2], the systems engineering implementation[3], the instrument model[4], the fibre positioner concepts[5], the fibre feed[6], and the spectrographs[7].

  • 2007
  • Ingår i: 2007 IEEE NUCLEAR SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM CONFERENCE RECORD, VOLS 1-11. - 9781424409228 ; , s. 42-47
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PAMELA is a satellite-borne experiment designed for precision studies of the charged cosmic radiation. The primary scientific goal is the study of the antimatter component of the cosmic radiation (antiprotons, 80 MeV - 190 GeV; and positrons, 50 MeV - 270 GeV) in order to search for evidence of dark matter particle annihilations. PAMELA will also search for primordial antinuclei (in particular, anti-helium), and test cosmic-ray propagation models through precise measurements of the antiparticle energy spectrum and studies of light nuclei and their isotopes. Concomitant goals include a study of solar physics and solar modulation during the 24th solar minimum by investigating low energy particles in the cosmic radiation; and a reconstruction of the cosmic ray electron energy spectrum up to several TeV thereby allowing a possible contribution from local sources to be studied. PAMELA is housed on-board the Russian Resurs-DK1 satellite, which was launched on June 15th 2006 in an elliptical (350-600 km altitude) orbit with an inclination of 70 degrees. PAMELA consists of a permanent magnet spectrometer, to provide rigidity and charge sign information; a Time-of-Flight and trigger system, for velocity and charge determination; a silicon-tungsten calorimeter, for lepton/hadron discrimination; and a neutron detector. An anticoincidence system is used offline to reject false triggers. In this article the PAMELA experiment and its status are reviewed. A preliminary discussion of data recorded in-orbit is also presented.

  • A Proposed Capacitor Voltage-Balancing Strategy for Double-Y STATCOM Operated Under Unbalanced Conditions
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: 2019 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, ECCE 2019.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper proposes a novel capacitor voltage-balancing strategy for the double-Y MMC STATCOM operated under unbalanced conditions. The proposed method, based on zero-sequence voltage injection, manipulates the current distribution between the converter arms to minimize the converter ratings. The proposed balancing strategy is compared with the classical approach based on controlling the circulating dc currents. For the same unbalanced conditions, the proposed strategy leads to lower energy rating for the converter as compared with the classical one, while the semiconductor ratings remain the same in both strategies. Theoretical findings are verified through simulation results.

  • 2019
  • Ingår i: 2019 21st European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, EPE 2019 ECCE Europe. ; September 2019
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A controller for a hybrid converter for STATCOM applications, based on a cascaded H-bridge star in series with a generic converter connected at the star point, is proposed. The controller utilizes the generic converter in an optimized way to maximize the operating range of the converter, with focus on unbalanced operating conditions. So for each operating condition, the generic converter reference voltage minimizes the voltage rating of the star part. Theoretical investigations of the hybrid converter using the proposed control approach show that the hybrid converter allows to effectively extend the operating range of the converter under unbalanced conditions of the system, given that the generic converter is large enough to circulate the needed active power between the converter phase legs. This indicates that, depending on the requirements from the operator in terms of negative-sequence injection capability, the hybrid converter can be a valuable solution to overcome the limitations of the CHB star.

  • Inertial response of isolated power networks with wind power plants
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: 2019 IEEE Milan PowerTech, PowerTech 2019.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The constant increase of power generation provided by renewable energy source (RES) power plants is causing a progressive reduction of the overall inertia of the power systems. Especially in the case of small, isolated power networks, the replacement of conventional generation plants with RES power plants can affect significantly the frequency response of the system. The critical low-inertia conditions can be improved by the introduction of specific additional controls to the RES power converters. These control schemes are known as 'synthetic inertia' or 'virtual inertia' controls. The paper analyzes the impact of a derivative-based inertial control on a small, isolated power system, with a relevant share of power supplied by a wind power plant. The inertial response control is added to the standard IEC wind turbine active power controller of type WT4A. Simulations performed on the dynamic model of the system indicate the appearance of frequency oscillations in response to the applied power unbalance. A comprehensive analysis of the observed phenomenon is given, and a tuning of the inertial control parameters is then proposed. Simulations repeated with the proposed tuning of the controller prove the validity of the applied modifications, and show a satisfactory transient response of the system, even in the case of critical low-inertia conditions.

    • PAMELA is a satellite borne experiment designed to study with great accuracy cosmic rays of galactic, solar, and trapped nature in a wide energy range (protons 80 MeV-700 GeV, electrons 50 MeV-400 GeV). Main objective is the study of the antimatter component: antiprotons (80 MeV-190 GeV), positrons (50 MeV-270 GeV) and search for antimatter with a precision of the order of 10-8. The experiment, housed on board the Russian Resurs-DK I satellite, was launched on June 15th, 2006 in a 350 x 600 km orbit with all inclination of 70'. The detector is composed of a series of scintillator counters arranged at the extremities of a permanent magnet spectrometer to provide charge, time-of-flight, and rigidity information. Lepton/hadron identification is performed by a silicon-tungsten calorimeter and a neutron detector placed at the bottom of the device. An anticounter system is used offline to reject false triggers coming from the satellite. In self-trigger mode the calorimeter, the neutron detector, and a shower tail catcher are capable of an independent measure of the lepton component up to 2 TeV. In this work we describe the experiment, its scientific objectives, and the performance in the first months after launch.

  • 2018
  • Ingår i: 2018 IEEE 4th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI). - 9781538662823
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Renewable Energy Sources are posing critical issues related to the mining of power systems stability, essentially due to a decrement of the inertial response during system's contingencies. As a consequence, to preserve the security and the reliability of the system, it is necessary to adopt new frequency adjustments mechanisms. This issue becomes particularly critical in isolated power systems, like those of small islands not supplied by the main grid, in the case of high shares of production from unpredictable renewabies such as photovoitaic and wind sources. In this framework, the present work deals with the analysis of the variation of the inertia time constant of a small island in various scenarios characterized by a different share of renewable energy. The study represents the first step of a more extended feasibility study for the conversion of a traditional power system based on fossil fuel towards a renewable energy-based power system.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The reduction of the inertial response of the generation system has been one of the main obstacles to the penetration of high sharing of renewable energy sources in islanded systems. This issue can be solved thanks to innovative control that makes wind turbines able to provide the so-named synthetic inertia. The paper investigates some scenarios with different levels of wind power penetration in a small island whose grid is not supplied by the main grid, by the use of the software NEPLAN 360, simulating the wind power plants accordingly to the standard IEC 61400-27. The aim of the paper is to assess the maximum level of penetration in the island of wind generation, with traditional control systems, that does not threaten the stability of the system.

  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 592:A5

    • Context. X-ray extragalactic surveys are ideal laboratories for the study of the evolution and clustering of active galactic nuclei (AGN). Usually, a combination of deep and wide surveys is necessary to create a complete picture of the population. Deep X-ray surveys provide the faint population at high redshift, while wide surveys provide the rare bright sources. Nevertheless, very wide area surveys often lack the ancillary information available for modern deep surveys. The XXL survey spans two fields of a combined 50 deg(2) observed for more than 6Ms with XMM-Newton, occupying the parameter space that lies between deep surveys and very wide area surveys; at the same time it benefits from a wealth of ancillary data. Aims. This paper marks the first release of the XXL point source catalogue including four optical photometry bands and redshift estimates. Our sample is selected in the 2-10 keV energy band with the goal of providing a sizable sample useful for AGN studies. The limiting flux is F2-10 keV = 4.8 x 10(14) erg s(-1) cm(-2). Methods. We use both public and proprietary data sets to identify the counterparts of the X-ray point-like sources by means of a likelihood ratio test. We improve upon the photometric redshift determination for AGN by applying a Random Forest classification trained to identify for each object the optimal photometric redshift category (passive, star forming, starburst, AGN, quasi-stellar objects (QSO)). Additionally, we assign a probability to each source that indicates whether it might be a star or an outlier. We apply Bayesian analysis to model the X-ray spectra assuming a power-law model with the presence of an absorbing medium. Results. We find that the average unabsorbed photon index is = 1.85 +/- 0.40 while the average hydrogen column density is log i = 21.07 +/- 1.2 cm(-2). We find no trend of Gamma or N-H with redshift and a fraction of 26% absorbed sources (log N-H > 22) consistent with the literature on bright sources (log L-x > 44). The counterpart identification rate reaches 96.7% for sources in the northern field, 97.7% for the southern field, and 97.2% in total. The photometric redshift accuracy is 0.095 for the full XMM-XXL with 28% catastrophic outliers estimated on a sample of 339 sources. Conclusions. We show that the XXL-1000-AGN sample number counts extended the number counts of the COSMOS survey to higher fluxes and are fully consistent with the Euclidean expectation. We constrain the intrinsic luminosity function of AGN in the 2-10 keV energy band where the unabsorbed X-ray flux is estimated from the X-ray spectral fit up to z = 3. Finally, we demonstrate the presence of a supercluster size structure at redshift 0.14, identified by means of percolation analysis of the XXL-1000-AGN sample. The XXL survey, reaching a medium flux limit and covering a wide area, is a stepping stone between current deep fields and planned wide area surveys.

  • A novel application of flywheel system to enhance fault-ride-through of the microgrids

    • This paper proposes a new control method for Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) to guarantee a Fault-Ride-Through (FRT) capability of the sensitive microgrids like big data centres. The proposed method has been developed towards a twofold aim: regulating constant common DC-bus voltage, during serious voltage dips caused by the grid-side electrical faults and also keeping a constant charge current during normal operation of the grid. The proposed FESS is coupled with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM). The speed sensorless Direct Torque Control (DTC) technique has been developed for PMSM control and the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is used to estimate the rotor position and consequently the rotor speed. The main contributions of the overall control method are: (i) the decoupled disturbance control at discharge mode copes with sudden load change disturbances; (ii) the DTC provides fast and precise torque response; (iii) the real time speed estimation by the EKF increases the speed and the accuracy of the overall control system; (iv) the proposed FESS can be easily replaced by the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The proposed system and the corresponding control method are verified in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

    • Context. The fraction of galaxies bound in groups in the nearby Universe is high (50% at z ∼ 0). Systematic studies of galaxy properties in groups are important in order to improve our understanding of the evolution of galaxies and of the physical phenomena occurring within this environment. Aims. We have built a complete spectrophotometric sample of galaxies within X-ray detected, optically spectroscopically confirmed groups and clusters (G&C), covering a wide range of halo masses at z ≤ 0.6. Methods. In the context of the XXL survey, we analyse a sample of 164 G&C in the XXL-North region (XXL-N), at z ≤ 0.6, with a wide range of virial masses (1.24 × 1013 ≤ M500,scal(Mo) ≤ 6.63 × 1014) and X-ray luminosities ((2.27 × 1041 ≤ L500,scalXXL(erg-s-1) ≤ 2.15 × 1044)). The G&C are X-ray selected and spectroscopically confirmed. We describe the membership assignment and the spectroscopic completeness analysis, and compute stellar masses. As a first scientific exploitation of the sample, we study the dependence of the galaxy stellar mass function (GSMF) on global environment. Results. We present a spectrophotometric characterisation of the G&C and their galaxies. The final sample contains 132 G&C, 22 111 field galaxies and 2225 G&C galaxies with r-band magnitude <20. Of the G&C, 95% have at least three spectroscopic members, and 70% at least ten. The shape of the GSMF seems not to depend on environment (field versus G&C) or X-ray luminosity (used as a proxy for the virial mass of the system). These results are confirmed by the study of the correlation between mean stellar mass of G&C members and L500,scalXXL. We release the spectrophotometric catalogue of galaxies with all the quantities computed in this work. Conclusions. As a first homogeneous census of galaxies within X-ray spectroscopically confirmed G&C at these redshifts, this sample will allow environmental studies of the evolution of galaxy properties.

    • Context. Superclusters form from the largest enhancements in the primordial density perturbation field and extend for tens of Mpc, tracing the large-scale structure of the Universe. X-ray detections and systematic characterisations of superclusters and the properties of their galaxies have only been possible in the last few years. Aims. We characterise XLSSsC N01, a rich supercluster at z ∼ 0.3 detected in the XXL Survey, composed of X-ray clusters of different virial masses and X-ray luminosities. As one of the first studies on this topic, we investigate the stellar populations of galaxies in different environments in the supercluster region. Methods. We study a magnitude-limited (r ≤ 20) and a mass-limited sample (log(M ∗ Mo) ≥ 10.8) of galaxies in the virialised region and in the outskirts of 11 XLSSsC N01 clusters, in high-density field regions, and in the low-density field. We compute the stellar population properties of galaxies using spectral energy distribution (SED) and spectral fitting techniques, and study the dependence of star formation rates (SFR), colours, and stellar ages on environment. Results. For r ≤ 20, the fraction of star-forming/blue galaxies, computed either from the specific-SFR (sSFR) or rest-frame colour, shows depletion within the cluster virial radii, where the number of galaxies with log (sSFR/ yr-1) > -12 and with (g - r) restframe < 0.6 is lower than in the field. For log(M ∗ Mo) ≥ 10.8, no trends with environment emerge, as massive galaxies are mostly already passive in all environments. No differences among low- and high-density field members and cluster members emerge in the sSFR-mass relation in the mass-complete regime. Finally, the luminosity-weighted age-mass relation of the passive populations within cluster virial radii show signatures of recent environmental quenching. Conclusions. The study of luminous and massive galaxies in this supercluster shows that while environment has a prominent role in determining the fractions of star-forming/blue galaxies, its effects on the star formation activity in star-forming galaxies are negligible.

    • An external inertia emulation loop (IEL) prevents instability in grid-forming converters during frequency disturbances. This paper investigates IEL stability limits and compares three alternatives to improve IEL performance under power limitation. Simulations confirm the IEL’s robustness and the effectiveness of the proposed solution in avoiding undesired active-power injection at the disturbance end.
