  • Near-threshold production of the eta meson via the quasifree pn -> pn eta reaction
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 79:1, s. 015208-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Total cross sections for the quasifree pn -> pn eta reaction in the range from the kinematical threshold up to 20 MeV excess energy have been determined. At threshold they exceed corresponding cross sections for the pn -> pn eta reaction by a factor of about 3 in contrast to the factor of 6 established for higher excess energies. To large extent, the observed decrease of the ratio s(pn -> pn eta)/s=sigma(pn -> pn eta) toward threshold may be assigned to the different energy dependence of the proton-proton and proton-neutron final-state interactions. The experiment was conducted using a proton beam of the cooler synchrotron COSY and a cluster jet deuteron target. The proton- neutron reactions were tagged by the spectator proton whose momentum was measured for each event. Protons and neutron outgoing from the pn -> pn eta reaction have been registered by means of the COSY-11 facility, an apparatus dedicated for threshold meson production.

  • A detector system for studying nuclear reactions relevant to Single Event Effects
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0168-9002 .- 1872-9576 .- 0167-5087. ; 578:2, s. 385-398
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We describe a device to study reactions relevant for the Single Event Effect (SEE) in microelectronics by means of 200A and 300AMeV, inverse kinematics, Si + H and Si + D reactions. The work is focused on the possibility to measure Z = 2-14 projectile fragments as efficiently as possible. During commissioning and first experiments the fourth quadrant of the CELSIUS storage ring acted as a spectrometer to register fragments in two planes of Si strip detectors in the angular region 0 degrees-0.6 degrees. A combination of ring-structured and sector-structured Si strip detector planes operated at angles 0.6 degrees-1.1 degrees. For specific event tagging a Si+ phoswich scintillator wall operated in the range 3.9 degrees-11.7 degrees and Si Delta E-E telescopes of CHICSi type operated at large angles.

  • ISOSPIN DEPENDENCE OF THE eta ' MESON PRODUCTION IN NUCLEON-NUCLEON COLLISIONS
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Modern Physics A. - 0217-751X .- 1793-656X. ; 24:2-3, s. 458-461
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A comparison of the close-to-threshold total cross section for the eta' production in pp -> pp eta' and pn -> pn eta' reactions constitutes a tool to investigate the eta' meson structure and the reaction mechanism in the channels of isospin I = 0 and I = 1 and may provide insight into the flavour-singlet (perhaps also into gluonium) content of the eta' meson. In this contribution we present preliminary results of measurement of the quasifree production of the eta' meson in the proton-neutron collisions conducted using the COSY-11 facility.

  • Performance of the projectile fragmentation wall at CELSIUS storage ring
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Physica Scripta. - 0031-8949. ; T104, s. 81-83
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The projectile fragmentation wall [Budzanowski, A. et al., Nucl. Instr. Meth. A482, 528 (2002).] (PFW) is a part of it bigger detection system comprising of the CHICSi detector [Jakobsson, B., Nucl. Phys. News Int. 9:2 22 (1999). Siwek, A., Nucl. Phys., A654, 2695 (1999)] and a recoil detectors array [Kuznetsov, A. V. et al, Nucl. Instr. Meth. A452, 525 (2000)]. The system is designed to register products of proton- and heavy ion-induced reactions at the energies 50-450 MeV/nucleon (see Bo Jakobsson's contribution to this conference). The aim of PFW is to register and identify projectile like fragments emitted in forward direction not covered by the CHICSi detector.

  • 200 and 300 MeV/nucleon nuclear reactions responsible for single-event effects in microelectronics
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 77:4, s. 44601-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An experimental study of nuclear reactions between Si-28 nuclei at 200 and 300 MeV/nucleon and hydrogen or deuterium target nuclei was performed at the CELSIUS storage ring in Uppsala, Sweden, to collect information about the reactions responsible for single-event effects in microelectronics. Inclusive data on Si-28 fragmentation, as well as data on correlations between recoils and spectator protons or alpha particles are compared to predictions from the Dubna cascade model and the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute version of the quantum molecular dynamics model. The comparison shows satisfactory agreement for inclusive data except for He fragments where low-energy sub-barrier fragments and recoiling fragments with very large momenta are produced much more frequently than predicted. The yield of exclusive data are also severely underestimated by the models whereas the charge distributions of recoils in these correlations compare well. The observed enhancement in He emission, which may well be important for the description of single-event effects, is most likely to be attributed to alpha clustering in Si-28 nuclei.
