  • Lifetime measurements of the negative-parity 7(-) and 8(-) states in Cd-122
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 77:1, s. 014309-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Advanced Time-Delayed beta gamma gamma(t) method was used to measure lifetimes of selected high-spin states in Cd-122 populated from beta(-) decay of the J(pi)=(9(-)) isomer in Ag-122. From the gamma gamma coincidences, a new energy level was established at 2616.6 keV with a suggested spin-parity assignment of 8(-). Lifetimes were determined for the high-spin states at 2616.6 and 2502.7 keV as T-1/2=1.35(29) ns and 0.24(6) ns, respectively. The transition rates for gamma rays de-exciting the 7(-) states in the N=74 isotones of Cd-122, Sn-124, and Te-126 were found to be very similar.

  • Precise and accurate determination of the B-8 decay spectrum
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics. - 2469-9985 .- 2469-9993. ; 83:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Accurate measurements of the B-8 neutrino spectrum are important for the interpretation of solar neutrino data. Experimentally, the B-8 neutrino spectrum can be obtained from the measurement of the beta-delayed alpha spectrum. We report on an alpha-alpha coincidence measurement performed at the IGISOL facility in Jyvaskyla, Finland. Our measurement allows extensive cross-checks to be performed and gives a more intense neutrino spectrum at high energies compared to the present standard. The deviation reaches 4% at the end point of the spectrum. Below 11 MeV, the deviation is less than 1%.

  • Independent Isotopic Product Yields in 25 MeV and 50 MeV Charged Particle Induced Fission of U-238 and Th-232
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Data Sheets. - : Elsevier BV. - 0090-3752 .- 1095-9904. ; 119, s. 334-337
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Independent isotopic yields for most elements from Zn to La in 25-MeV proton-induced fission of U-238 and Th-232 have been determined at the IGISOL facility in the University of Jyvaskyla. In addition, isotopic yields for Zn, Ga, Rb, Sr, Zr, Pd and Xe in 50-MeV proton-induced fission of U-238 and for Zn, Ga, Rb, Sr, Cd and In in 25-MeV deuterium-induced fission of U-238 have been measured. The utilised technique recently developed at the University of Jyvaskyla, is based on a combination of the ion guide technique and the ability of a Penning trap to unambiguously identify the isotopes by their atomic mass. Since the yields are determined by ion counting, no prior knowledge beyond the mass and half-life of the isotopes was needed for the measurements.

  • Easurement of solids velocity and concentration in a large cold CFB model
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: 11th International Conference on Fluidized Bed Technology, CFB 2014; Beijing; China; 14 May 2014 through 17 May 2014. ; , s. 589-594
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This work applies optical probe and particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements for determining the local characteristics of the solids flow in a CFB riser and discusses benefits and limitations of the two methods. Measurements were carried out in an 8.5 m tall CFB riser with a cross-section of 0.7 m x 0.12 m. The optical probe was used to measure both solids volume fraction and velocity whereas the PIV was limited to solids velocity measurements. In addition, the vertical pressure profile and solids circulation rate were measured by means of pressure transducers. The work demonstrates the challenge of applying detailed solids flow measurements in CFB reactors. Both methods applied are associated with limitations and inaccuracies and it is concluded that a combination of both local measurement methods and the global pressure measurements will improve the interpretation of the solids flow field in CFB risers.

  • Hereditary palmoplantar keratoderma – phenotypes and mutations in 64 patients
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. - : Wiley. - 0926-9959 .- 1468-3083. ; 35:9, s. 1874-1880
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Hereditary palmoplantar keratodermas (PPK) represent a heterogeneous group of rare skin disorders with epidermal hyperkeratosis of the palms and soles, with occasional additional manifestations in other tissues. Mutations in at least 69 genes have been implicated in PPK, but further novel candidate genes and mutations are still to be found. Objectives: To identify mutations underlying PPK in a cohort of 64 patients. Methods: DNA of 48 patients was analysed on a custom-designed in-house panel for 35 PPK genes, and 16 patients were investigated by a diagnostic genetic laboratory either by whole-exome sequencing, gene panels or targeted single-gene sequencing. Results: Of the 64 PPK patients, 32 had diffuse (50%), 19 focal (30%) and 13 punctate (20%) PPK. None had striate PPK. Pathogenic mutations in altogether five genes were identified in 31 of 64 (48%) patients, the majority (22/31) with diffuse PPK. Of them, 11 had a mutation in AQP5, five in SERPINB7, four in KRT9 and two in SLURP1. AAGAB mutations were found in nine punctate PPK patients. New mutations were identified in KRT9 and AAGAB. No pathogenic mutations were detected in focal PPK. Variants of uncertain significance (VUS) in PPK-associated and other genes were observed in 21 patients that might explain their PPK. No suggestive pathogenic variants were found for 12 patients. Conclusions: Diffuse PPK was the most common (50%) and striate PPK was not observed. We identified pathogenic mutations in 48% of our PPK patients, mainly in five genes: AQP5, AAGAB, KRT9, SERPINB7 and SLURP1.

  • Designing ICT for Health and Wellbeing an Allostatic, Behavioral-Change Approach to a Monitoring and Coaching App
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Ambient Assisted Living and Active Aging 6th International Work-conference, Iwaal 2014, Belfast, Uk December 2-5 2014 Proceedings. - Cham : Springer. - 9783319131047 ; , s. 244-251
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We are developing a monitoring and coaching app for health and wellbeing based on (1) an allostatic model of adaption combined with (2) behavioural change theory and (3) user-oriented design. The (1) allostatic model comes from stress research and was introduced to explain how human health and wellbeing can be maintained. It suggests that human health and wellbeing is a complex multidimensional phenomenon that needs to be understood holistically. We have used this model to incorporate the dimensions of human health and wellbeing that are key for stress reduction: physical and social activity and sleep. The allostatic model can allow us to understand human health and wellbeing but it does not tell us how to support the behavioural changes needed in order to reach a healthy state of allostasis. For this we rely on (2) theory of behavioural change. This article describes how we have integrated (1-3) into the system design and reports from an initial workshop with users.

  • WDR12, a Member of Nucleolar PeBoW-Complex, Is Up-Regulated in Failing Hearts and Causes Deterioration of Cardiac Function
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Plos One. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1932-6203. ; 10:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aims In a recent genome-wide association study, WD-repeat domain 12 (WDR12) was associated with early-onset myocardial infarction (MI). However, the function of WDR12 in the heart is unknown. We characterized cardiac expression of WDR12, used adenovirus-mediated WDR12 gene delivery to examine effects of WDR12 on left ventricular (LV) remodeling, and analyzed relationship between MI associated WDR12 allele and cardiac function in human subjects. LV WDR12 protein levels were increased in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and rats post-infarction. In normal adult rat hearts, WDR12 gene delivery into the anterior wall of the LV decreased interventricular septum diastolic and systolic thickness and increased the diastolic and systolic diameters of the LV. Moreover, LV ejection fraction (9.1%, P<0.05) and fractional shortening (12.2%, P<0.05) were declined. The adverse effects of WDR12 gene delivery on cardiac function were associated with decreased cellular proliferation, activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/heat shock protein (HSP) 27 pathway, and increased protein levels of Block of proliferation 1 (BOP1), essential for ribosome biogenesis. Post-infarction WDR12 gene delivery decreased E/A ratio (32%, P<0.05) suggesting worsening of diastolic function. In human subjects, MI associated WDR12 allele was associated significantly with diastolic dysfunction and left atrial size. WDR12 triggers distinct deterioration of cardiac function in adult rat heart and the MI associated WDR12 variant is associated with diastolic dysfunction in human subjects.
