  • Les Houches 2013: Physics at TeV Colliders: Standard Model Working Group Report
  • 2014
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This Report summarizes the proceedings of the 2013 Les Houches workshop on Physics at TeV Colliders. Session 1 dealt primarily with (1) the techniques for calculating standard model multi-leg NLO and NNLO QCD and NLO EW cross sections and (2) the comparison of those cross sections with LHC data from Run 1, and projections for future measurements in Run 2.

  • A PC-controlled microwave tomographic scanner for breast imaging
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Review of Scientific Instruments. - : AIP Publishing. - 1089-7623 .- 0034-6748. ; 82:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This article presents the design and development of a personal computer based controller for a microwave tomographic system for breast cancer detection. The system uses motorized, dual-polarized antennas and a custom-made GUI interface to control stepper motors, a wideband vector network analyzer (VNA) and to coordinate data acquisition and archival in a local MDSPlus database. Both copolar and cross-polar scattered field components can be measured directly. Experimental results are presented to validate the various functionalities of the scanner. • Antenna Modeling and Reconstruction Accuracy of Time Domain-Based Image Reconstruction in Microwave Tomography
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Biomedical Imaging. - : Hindawi Limited. - 1687-4188 .- 1687-4196. ; 2013
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nonlinear microwave imaging heavily relies on an accurate numerical electromagneticmodel of the antenna system. The model is used to simulate scatteringdata that is compared to its measured counterpart in order to reconstruct the image. In this paper an antenna system immersed in water is used to image differentcanonical objects in order to investigate the implication of modeling errors on thefinal reconstruction using a time domain-based iterative inverse reconstruction algorithmand three-dimensional FDTD modeling. With the test objects immersedin a background of air and tap water, respectively, we have studied the impact ofantenna modeling errors, errors in the modeling of the background media, and madea comparison with a two-dimensional version of the algorithm. In conclusion evensmall modeling errors in the antennas can significantly alter the reconstructed image. Since the image reconstruction procedure is highly nonlinear general conclusions arevery difficult to make. In our case it means that with the antenna system immersedin water and using our present FDTD-based electromagnetic model the imagingresults are improved if refraining from modeling the water-wall-air interface andinstead just use a homogeneous background of water in the model.

  • Image reconstruction in a microwave tomography prototype
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Electromagnetic Compatibility Symposium and Exhibition, EMCSA 2011 - Symposium Proceedings. - 9780987224217
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Microwave tomography is currently being researched for breast cancer detection. Our research has shown that clinical imaging preferably has to be made in a full 3D setting. In this paper we show results in order to evaluate the performance of a clinical system under construction.

  • Mushy-layer dynamics in micro and hyper gravity
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Physics of fluids. - : AIP Publishing. - 1070-6631 .- 1089-7666. ; 24:10, s. 103305-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We describe the results of experiments on mushy layers grown from aqueous ammonium chloride solution in normal, micro, and hyper gravity environments. In the fully developed chimney state, the chimney plume dynamics differ strikingly when conditions change from micro to hyper gravity. In microgravity, we find fully arrested plume motion and suppressed convection. As gravity exceeds Earth conditions, we observe a host of phenomena, ranging from arched plumes that undergo forced Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities to in-phase multiple plume oscillatory behavior. For the same initial solute concentrations and fixed boundary cooling temperatures, we find that, in runs of over two hours, the averaged effects of microgravity and hypergravity result in suppressed growth of the mushy layers, a phenomenon caused by a net enhancement of convective heat and solute transport from the liquid to the mushy layers. These behaviors are placed in the context of the theory of convecting mushy layers as studied under normal laboratory conditions.
