  • Dual antiplatelet Use for extended period taRgeted to AcuTe ischemic stroke with presumed atherosclerotic OrigiN (DURATION) trial : Rationale and design
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Stroke. - : SAGE Publications. - 1747-4930 .- 1747-4949. ; 18:8, s. 1015-1020
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Rationale: The optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with clopidogrel-aspirin for the large artery atherosclerotic (LAA) stroke subtype has been debated. Aims: To determine whether the 1-year risk of recurrent vascular events could be reduced by a longer duration of DAPT in patients with the LAA stroke subtype. Methods and study design: A total of 4806 participants will be recruited to detect a statistically significant relative risk reduction of 22% with 80% power and a two-sided alpha error of 0.05, including a 10% loss to follow-up. This is a registry-based, multicenter, prospective, randomized, open-label, blinded end point study designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a 12-month duration of DAPT compared with a 3-month duration of DAPT in the LAA stroke subtype. Patients will be randomized (1:1) to either DAPT for 12 months or DAPT for 3 months, followed by monotherapy (either aspirin or clopidogrel) for the remaining 9 months. Study outcomes: The primary efficacy outcome of the study is a composite of stroke (ischemic or hemorrhagic), myocardial infarction, and all-cause mortality for 1 year after the index stroke. The secondary efficacy outcomes are (1) stroke, (2) ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack, (3) hemorrhagic stroke, and (4) all-cause mortality. The primary safety outcome is major bleeding. Discussion: This study will help stroke physicians determine the appropriate duration of dual therapy with clopidogrel-aspirin for patients with the LAA stroke subtype. • Microslit on a chip: A simplified filter to capture circulating tumor cells enlarged with microbeads
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: PLOS ONE. - : Public Library of Science. - 1932-6203. ; 14:10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Microchips are widely used to separate circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from whole blood by virtues of sophisticated manipulation for microparticles. Here, we present a chip with an 8 µm high and 27.9 mm wide slit to capture cancer cells bound to 3 µm beads. Apart from a higher purity and recovery rate, the slit design allows for simplified fabrication, easy cell imaging, less clogging, lower chamber pressure and, therefore, higher throughput. The beads were conjugated with anti-epithelial cell adhesion molecules (anti-EpCAM) to selectively bind to breast cancer cells (MCF-7) used to spike the whole blood. The diameter of the cell-bead construct was in average 23.1 µm, making them separable from other cells in the blood. As a result, the cancer cells were separated from 5 mL of whole blood with a purity of 52.0% and a recovery rate of 91.1%, and also we confirmed that the device can be applicable to clinical samples of human breast cancer patients. The simple design with microslit, by eliminating any high-aspect ratio features, is expected to reduce possible defects on the chip and, therefore, more suitable for mass production without false separation outputs.

  • Clustering Fiber Traces Using Normalized Cuts
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention – MICCAI 2004. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin/Heidelberg. - 9783540229766 - 9783540301356 ; , s. 368-375
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper we present a framework for unsupervised segmentation of white matter fiber traces obtained from diffusion weighted MRI data. Fiber traces are compared pairwise to create a weighted undirected graph which is partitioned into coherent sets using the normalized cut (Ncut) criterion. A simple and yet effective method for pairwise comparison of fiber traces is presented which in combination with the Ncut criterion is shown to produce plausible segmentations of both synthetic and real fiber trace data. Segmentations are visualized as colored stream-tubes or transformed to a segmentation of voxel space, revealing structures in a way that looks promising for future explorative studies of diffusion weighted MRI data.

  • Coloring of DT-MRI fiber traces using Laplacian Eigenmaps
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Computer Aided Systems Theory - EUROCAST 2003. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin/Heidelberg. - 9783540202219 - 9783540452102 ; , s. 518-529
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We propose a novel post processing method for visualization of fiber traces from DT-MRI data. Using a recently proposed non-linear dimensionality reduction technique, Laplacian eigenmaps [3], we create a mapping from a set of fiber traces to a low dimensional Euclidean space. Laplacian eigenmaps constructs this mapping so that similar traces are mapped to similar points, given a custom made pairwise similarity measure for fiber traces. We demonstrate that when the low-dimensional space is the RGB color space, this can be used to visualize fiber traces in a way which enhances the perception of fiber bundles and connectivity in the human brain.

  • Thermal-assisted photo-annealed TiO2 thin films for perovskite solar cells fabricated under ambient air
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Applied Surface Science. - : ELSEVIER. - 0169-4332 .- 1873-5584. ; 530
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report herein a facile process for the fabrication of amorphous TiO2 thin films under ambient atmosphere using thermal-assisted UV-annealing (similar to 125 degrees C). The TiO2 films were prepared via spin-coating titanium diisopropoxide bis(acetylacetonate) precursor and sequential photo-annealing at various temperatures. Additional soft annealing during the UV-annealing altered the surface chemical states and electrical band structures of the amorphous TiO2 films. The UV-annealing at room temperature leads to a higher conduction band minimum level of the film and a smaller amount of hydroxyl group at the film surface, compared to the thermal-assisted (100-250 degrees C) UV-annealing or the thermal-only annealing (500 degrees C). Effects of the temperature during the UV-annealing process on photovoltaic properties were investigated by fabricating planar heterojunction perovskite cells with methylammonium lead triiodide under ambient atmosphere. At higher temperature of 100-150 degrees C, compared to room temperature, fill factor and power conversion efficiency were enhanced, and hysteresis in current-voltage curves were reduced. Impedance analysis demonstrates that the capacitance is significantly reduced, leading to suppressed hysteresis of the perovskite solar cells. Finally, we achieved a power-conversion efficiency of 20.36% (for the reverse scan) and a stabilized power output of 18.57% from a 125 degrees C -photo-annealed TiO2-based device.
