  • Roadmap on energy harvesting materials
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 2515-7639. ; 6:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ambient energy harvesting has great potential to contribute to sustainable development and address growing environmental challenges. Converting waste energy from energy-intensive processes and systems (e.g. combustion engines and furnaces) is crucial to reducing their environmental impact and achieving net-zero emissions. Compact energy harvesters will also be key to powering the exponentially growing smart devices ecosystem that is part of the Internet of Things, thus enabling futuristic applications that can improve our quality of life (e.g. smart homes, smart cities, smart manufacturing, and smart healthcare). To achieve these goals, innovative materials are needed to efficiently convert ambient energy into electricity through various physical mechanisms, such as the photovoltaic effect, thermoelectricity, piezoelectricity, triboelectricity, and radiofrequency wireless power transfer. By bringing together the perspectives of experts in various types of energy harvesting materials, this Roadmap provides extensive insights into recent advances and present challenges in the field. Additionally, the Roadmap analyses the key performance metrics of these technologies in relation to their ultimate energy conversion limits. Building on these insights, the Roadmap outlines promising directions for future research to fully harness the potential of energy harvesting materials for green energy anytime, anywhere.

  • NTIRE 2022 Burst Super-Resolution Challenge
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: 2022 IEEE/CVF CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER VISION AND PATTERN RECOGNITION WORKSHOPS (CVPRW 2022). - : IEEE. - 9781665487399 - 9781665487405 ; , s. 1040-1060
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Burst super-resolution has received increased attention in recent years due to its applications in mobile photography. By merging information from multiple shifted images of a scene, burst super-resolution aims to recover details which otherwise cannot be obtained using a simple input image. This paper reviews the NTIRE 2022 challenge on burst super-resolution. In the challenge, the participants were tasked with generating a clean RGB image with 4x higher resolution, given a RAW noisy burst as input. That is, the methods need to perform joint denoising, demosaicking, and super-resolution. The challenge consisted of 2 tracks. Track 1 employed synthetic data, where pixel-accurate high-resolution ground truths are available. Track 2 on the other hand used real-world bursts captured from a handheld camera, along with approximately aligned reference images captured using a DSLR. 14 teams participated in the final testing phase. The top performing methods establish a new state-of-the-art on the burst super-resolution task.

  • 3D porous sulfur-graphdiyne with splendid electrocatalytic and energy storage application
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Materials Today Chemistry. - : Elsevier. - 2468-5194. ; 34
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The blooming emergence of graphdiyne featuring embellished sp-hybridized carbons has been highly alluring for electrocatalysis and ion storage. Here, a porous 3D material sulfur-graphdiyne (3D-SGDY) is theoretically designed comprising butadiyne chains and sulfur as a heteroatom, owing a stable cubic skeleton and an atypical tuneable indirect bandgap. Compared to sp2-bonded carbon materials, the existence of sp-bonded carbon in 3D-SGDY tuned the direction of organic reactions leading to a single carbon product with numerous storage sites for the metal ions. Anchoring a single Cu atom in 3D-SGDY, we realize the unique Cu–C (3D-SGDY) chemical bonds exhibiting unconventional selectivity for CO2 reduction. The Cu–C bond in 3D-SGDY predominantly forms the *OCHO intermediates in lieu of *COOH and provides an active charge deportation channel during the reduction process of CO2 into CH4 product. Additionally, the porous structure reveals its astounding potential as an anode material by facilitating rapid transportation with a very low diffusion barrier of 0.06 eV and an ultrahigh capacity of 1826.4 mAhg−1 for Ca-ions. This work not only provides the 3D prototype of GDY but also administers the atomic level selectivity for CO2RR and high-performance Ca-ion batteries.

  • Generating hardware and software for RISC-V cores generated with Rocket Chip generator
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Proceedings - 34th IEEE International System-on-Chip Conference, SOCC 2021. - 2164-1676 .- 2164-1706. - 9781665429313 ; 2021-September, s. 89-94
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents the hardware/software generation backend of a code generation framework. The backend aims at synthesizing complete systems based on RISC-V cores with accelerators from a single-language description. The framework takes the dataflow description of an algorithm as input and generates a combination of hardware (in Chisel) and software (in C) that interacts with the hardware. The hardware can be integrated with RISC-V cores created by the Rocket Chip generator and the software can be executed on these cores. The generated hardware requires similar amount of resources as the hand-written hardware while achieving equal or higher clock rates. As expected, the accelerators perform the calculations faster than the general purpose processor, 5 to 33x in our experiments. When these accelerators are integrated with the Rocket cores, they increase the performance by 25% and 260% in the two use-cases we investigate.

  • Incremental Bayesian Classifier for Streaming Data with Concept Drift
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Lecture Notes on Data Engineering and Communications Technologies. - Cham : Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH. ; , s. 509-518
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Classification is an important task in the field of machine learning. Most classifiers based on offline learning are invalid for open data streams. In contrast, incremental learning is feasible for continuous data. This paper presents the Incremental Bayesian Classifier “Incremental_BC”, which continuously updates the probabilistic information according to each new training sample via recursive calculation. Further, the Incremental_BC is improved to deal with the flowing data whose distribution and property evolve with time, i.e., the concept drift. The effectiveness of the proposed methods has been verified by the results of simulation tests on benchmark data sets.

  • Thermodynamic reassessment of the Cu-Mg-Ni system with brief comments on the thermodynamic modeling of the sub-systems
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Calphad. - : Elsevier BV. - 0364-5916 .- 1873-2984. ; 32:4, s. 675-685
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Cu-Mg-Ni system was reassessed using the CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagram) approach, in order to provide a reliable thermodynamic description. A set of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters for the Cu-Mg-Ni system was obtained. The liquidus projection and the reaction scheme were generated by using the present thermodynamic parameters. Significant improvements have been made, compared with the previous assessments. Thermodynamic modeling for the three sub-systems was briefly reviewed. Further work is of interest to refine the thermodynamic description of the binary systems, in order to avoid the appearance of the artificial phase equilibria in liquid above 2500 degrees C.

  • The Role of Solution Aggregation Property toward High-Efficiency Non-Fullerene Organic Photovoltaic Cells
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Advanced Materials. - : WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH. - 0935-9648 .- 1521-4095.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In organic photovoltaic cells, the solution-aggregation effect (SAE) is long considered a critical factor in achieving high power-conversion efficiencies for polymer donor (PD)/non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) blend systems. However, the underlying mechanism has yet to be fully understood. Herein, based on an extensive study of blends consisting of the representative 2D-benzodithiophene-based PDs and acceptor-donor-acceptor-type NFAs, it is demonstrated that SAE shows a strong correlation with the aggregation kinetics during solidification, and the aggregation competition between PD and NFA determines the phase separation of blend film and thus the photovoltaic performance. PDs with strong SAEs enable earlier aggregation evolutions than NFAs, resulting in well-known polymer-templated fibrillar network structures and superior PCEs. With the weakening of PDs' aggregation effects, NFAs, showing stronger tendencies to aggregate, tend to form oversized domains, leading to significantly reduced external quantum efficiencies and fill factors. These trends reveal the importance of matching SAE between PD and NFA. The aggregation abilities of various materials are further evaluated and the aggregation ability/photovoltaic parameter diagrams of 64 PD/NFA combinations are provided. This work proposes a guiding criteria and facile approach to match efficient PD/NFA systems. A systematic study of the representative organic photovoltaic systems shows that the aggregation competition between polymer donor (PD) and non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) is a decisive factor in the phase separation of blend film and thus the photovoltaic performance. Based on 64 PD/NFA combinations, the aggregation ability/photovoltaic parameter heatmaps are plotted, providing a new matching rule for developing high-efficiency PD/NFA systems. image

  • "Ghost Introgression" As a Cause of Deep Mitochondrial Divergence in a Bird Species Complex
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Molecular biology and evolution. - : OXFORD UNIV PRESS. - 0737-4038 .- 1537-1719. ; 36:11, s. 2375-2386
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the absence of nuclear-genomic differentiation between two populations, deep mitochondrial divergence (DMD) is a form of mito-nuclear discordance. Such instances of DMD are rare and might variably be explained by unusual cases of female-linked selection, by male-biased dispersal, by "speciation reversal" or by mitochondrial capture through genetic introgression. Here, we analyze DMD in an Asian Phylloscopus leaf warbler (Aves: Phylloscopidae) complex. Bioacoustic, morphological, and genomic data demonstrate close similarity between the taxa affinis and occisinensis, even though DMD previously led to their classification as two distinct species. Using population genomic and comparative genomic methods on 45 whole genomes, including historical reconstructions of effective population size, genomic peaks of differentiation and genomic linkage, we infer that the form affinis is likely the product of a westward expansion in which it replaced a now-extinct congener that was the donor of its mtDNA and small portions of its nuclear genome. This study provides strong evidence of "ghost introgression" as the cause of DMD, and we suggest that "ghost introgression" may be a widely overlooked phenomenon in nature.
