  • A new European species in the genus Melangyna Verrall, 1901 (Diptera: Syrphidae).
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Entomologiske Meddelelser. - 0013-8851. ; 79:2, s. 143-151
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Melangyna pavlovskyi (Violovitsh, 1956) has been found breeding in Denmark. The species is recorded from four localities on Zealand, and it is established on at least one of these. It is new to the European fauna. A redescription of M. pavlovskyi based on the external characters and an updated key to the NW European species of Melangyna are presented.

  • Chyliza leguminicola Melander, 1920 (Diptera: Psilidae) new to the Palaearctic fauna.
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Entomologiske Meddelelser. - 0013-8851. ; 79:2, s. 73-84
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Nearctic species Chyliza leguminicola Melander, 1920 has been found breeding in Denmark. It is reported here for the first time in the Palaearctic region. The first known Danish record is from 1991, and the species is well established at least in the eastern part of Jutland. Data on the distribution as currently known is presented. It is possible that C. leguminicola is actually established but has been overlooked also in other European countries. The larvae of C. leguminicola live in the roots or stems of Garden Lupin (Lupinus polyphyllus Lindley, 1827). This plant is native to North America and occurs in Europe as an introduced species. It is spreading rapidly and in some areas considered invasive. An updated key to the European species of Chyliza Fallén, 1820 is presented.

  • En population af snudebillen Brachyderes lusitanicus (Fabricius, 1781) fundet i Danmark. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Entomologiske Meddelelser. - 0013-8851. ; 74, s. 147-150
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The weevil Brachyderes lusitanicus (F.) is recorded for the first time from Denmark. In 2006 a population was found at Flyvesandet, Agernæs on the north coast of Fyn. The first Danish specimen was a found on the same locality in september 2000, but this has only recently been indetified correct. The second specimen was found in november 2005. Inspired by this finding the site has been visited by several entomologists in 2006, and the species seems to be vel established. Imagines of B. lusitanicus have been observed in copula both in spring and autumn.

  • Anholts sommerfugle (Lepidoptera).
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Entomologiske Meddelelser. - 0013-8851. ; 76:1, s. 3-39
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Lepidoptera fauna of the Danish island of Anholt is surveyed, and 1160 species are recorded. Anholt is situated in Kattegat 44 km from Denmark and 47 km from Sweden. The history and environment of the island are briefly discussed, with special focus on the flora, and earlier studies of the Lepidopterera fauna of Anholt are dealt with. The present study is in first hand based on material collected by the late Ebbe Schmidt Nielsen and the authors, partly in the 1970’s and partly in more recent years. The material do not permit a general comparison between the status of the Lepidoptera fauna on Anholt within these two periods, but examples on species which seem to have disappeared from the island during the last 20-30 years, and other which have colonized Anholt during that period, are discussed under comments (“kommentarer”). We consider a number of the species found in Anholt as only temporary resident. Most records are based on voucher material, the depository of which is stated at http://zoologi.snm.ku.dk/forskning/entomology/. A list of all 1160 species is given, and comments are added for rare, dubious or otherwise interesting records. A considerable part of Anholt consists of open, sandy areas with heath-like or dune vegetation, a nature type which is threatened in Europé due to eutrophication and overgrowing.

  • Tre nye arter af bier for den danske fauna (Hymenoptera, Apoidea).
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Entomologiske Meddelelser. - 0013-8851. ; 83, s. 21-29
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Since the latest update of the checklist on bees known from Denmark, the following three species have been added as new to the country: Colletes halophilus Verhoeff, 1943 (Colletidae), Nomada obscura Zetterstedt, 1838 (Apidae) and Xylocopa violacea (Linnaeus, 1758) (Apidae). The national checklist hereby includes 286 bee species, but more species will probably be found in the future, as the wild bee fauna in Denmark has never been thoroughly investigated.
