  • RISING: Gamma‐ray Spectroscopy with Radioactive Beams at GSI
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : AIP. - 0094-243X. - 9780735413283 ; 891, s. 99-107
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Rare Isotope Spectroscopic INvestigation at GSI (RISING) project is a major pan‐European collaboration. Its physics aims are the studies of exotic nuclear matter with abnormal proton‐to‐neutron ratios compared with naturally occurring isotopes. RISING combines the FRagment Separator (FRS) which allows relativistic energies and projectile fragmentation reactions with EUROBALL Ge Cluster detectors for γ spectroscopic research. The RISING setup can be used in two different configurations. Either the nuclei of interest are investigated after being stopped or the heavy ions hit a secondary target at relativistic energies and the thereby occurring excitations are studied. For the latter case, MINIBALL Ge detectors and the HECTOR array are used in addition. Example achievements of the Fast Beam setup are presented and compared to various shell model calculations, while for the Stopped Beam setup initial results are shown.

    • The first results from the Stopped Beam RISING experimental campaign performed at the GSI laboratory in Darmstadt, Germany, are presented. RISING (Rare ISotope INvestigations at GSI) constitutes a major new experimental program in European nuclear structure physics research aimed at using relativistic‐energy, projectile‐fragmentation reactions to study nuclei with exotic proton‐to‐neutron ratios. This paper introduces the physics aims of the Stopped RISING collaboration and presents some technical details and initial results from experiments using the RISING array to study decays from metastable nuclear states in both proton and neutron‐rich nuclei.

  • Collision-induced absorption by supermolecular complexes from a new potential energy and induced dipole surface, suited for calculations up to thousands of kelvin
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: 20th International Conference on Spectral Line Shapes. - Melville, NY : American Institute of Physics (AIP). - 9780735408456 ; , s. 251-257
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Absorption by pairs of H2 molecules is an important opacity source in the atmospheres of the outer planets, and thus of special astronomical interest. The emission spectra of cool white dwarf stars differ significantly from the expected blackbody spectra, amongst other reasons due to absorption by H2-H2, H2-He, and H2-H collisional complexes in the stellar atmospheres. To model the radiative processes in these atmospheres, which have temperatures of several thousand kelvin, one needs accurate knowledge of the induced dipole (ID) and potential energy surfaces (PES) of such collisional complexes. These come from quantum-chemical calculations with the H2 bonds stretched or compressed far from equilibrium. Laboratory measurements of collision-induced (CI) absorption exist only at much lower temperature. For H2 pairs at room temperature, the calculated spectra of the rototranslational band, the fundamental band, and the first overtone match the experimental data very well. In addition, with the newly obtained IDS it became possible to reproduce the measurements in the far blue wing of the rototranslational spectrum of H2 at 77.5 K, as well as at 300 K. Similarly good agreement between theory and measurement is seen in the fundamental band of molecular deuterium at room temperature. Furthermore, we also show the calculated absorption spectra of H2-He at 600 K and of H2-H2 at 2,000 K, for which there are no experimental data for comparison

  • The large enriched germanium experiment for neutrinoless double beta decay (LEGEND)
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : Author(s). - 1551-7616 .- 0094-243X. ; 1894
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The observation of neutrinoless double-beta decay (0νββ) would show that lepton number is violated, reveal that neu-trinos are Majorana particles, and provide information on neutrino mass. A discovery-capable experiment covering the inverted ordering region, with effective Majorana neutrino masses of 15 - 50 meV, will require a tonne-scale experiment with excellent energy resolution and extremely low backgrounds, at the level of ∼0.1 count /(FWHM·t·yr) in the region of the signal. The current generation 76Ge experiments GERDA and the Majorana Demonstrator, utilizing high purity Germanium detectors with an intrinsic energy resolution of 0.12%, have achieved the lowest backgrounds by over an order of magnitude in the 0νββ signal region of all 0νββ experiments. Building on this success, the LEGEND collaboration has been formed to pursue a tonne-scale 76Ge experiment. The collaboration aims to develop a phased 0νββ experimental program with discovery potential at a half-life approaching or at 1028 years, using existing resources as appropriate to expedite physics results.

  • Evaluation of Optimized 3-step Global Reaction Mechanism for CFD Simulations on Sandia Flame D
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : AIP. - 1551-7616 .- 0094-243X. - 9780735409569 ; 1389, s. 66-69
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of this paper is to evaluate a new optimized 3-step global reaction mechanism (opt) [1] for a methane-air mixture for industry purpose. The global reaction mechanism consists of three reactions corresponding to the fuel oxidation into CO and H2O, and the CO–CO2 equilibrium reaction. Correction functions that are dependent on the local equivalence ratio are introduced into the global mechanism. The optimized 3-step global reaction scheme is adapted into the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of a partially-premixed piloted methane jet flame. The burner consists of a central nozzle (for premixed fuel/air), surrounded by a premixed pilot flame, and an annular co-flow stream. Both steady-state RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes) and time-averaged hybrid URANS/LES (Unsteady RANS/Large Eddy Simulation) results have been computed and compared with experimental results obtained from the Sydney burner at Sandia National Laboratories, Sandia Flame D [2]. The CFD results with the optimized 3-step global reaction mechanism show reasonable agreement with the experimental data based on emission, velocity and temperature profiles, while the 2-step Westbrook Dryer (WD2) [3] global reaction mechanism shows poor agreement with the emission profiles. ©2011 American Institute of Physics

  • 2004
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - 0094-243X. ; 714, s. 21-28
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • n all the microquasars with two hHz QPOs, the ratio of the frequencies is 3:2, supporting our suggestion that a non-linear resonance between two modes of oscillation in the accretion disk plays a role in exciting the observed modulations of the X-ray flux. We discuss the evidence in favor of this interpretation, and we relate the black hole spin to the frequencies expected for various types of resonances that may occur in nearly Keplerian disks in strong gravity. For those microquasars where the mass of the central X-ray source is known, the black hole spin can be deduced from a comparison of the observed and expected frequencies.

  • 2012

    • We propose a double blinding-attack on entangled-based quantum key distribution protocols. The principle of the attack is the same as in existing blinding attack except that instead of blinding the detectors on one side only, Eve is blinding the detectors of both Alice and Bob. In the BBM92 protocol, the attack allows Eve to get a full knowledge of the key and remain undetected even if Alice and Bob are using 100% efficient detectors. The attack can be easily extended to Ekert protocol, with an efficiency as high as 85.3%.

  • The Inhomogeneous Background of H2 Dissociating Radiation During Cosmic Reionization
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: FIRST STARS III. - : American Institute of Physics.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The first, self-consistent calculations of the cosmological H2 dissociating UV background produced during the epoch of reionization by the sources of reionization are presented. Large-scale radiative transfer simulations of reionization trace the impact of all the ionizing starlight on the IGM from all sources in our simulation volume down to dwarf galaxies of mass ~108 Msolar, identified by very high-resolution N-body simulations, including the self-regulating effect of IGM photoheating on dwarf galaxy formation. The UV continuum emitted below 13.6 eV by each source is then transferred through the same IGM, attenuated by atomic H Lyman series resonance lines, to predict the evolution of the inhomogeneous background in the Lyman-Werner band of H2 between 11 and 13.6 eV.

    • By radiating bifrequency primary waves from two ultrasonic emitters with changing the phases of the primary waves, we can obtain the sound fields that are different from the usual in‐phase excitation. Especially, for the excitation of out‐phase by 180 degrees the difference frequency wave has the directivity of almost uniformity near the acoustic axis. Additionally, the sound pressure levels of the harmonic components of the difference frequency and the primary waves as well are suppressed by 10 dB and more

    • The nuclear structure of neutron-rich N≥126 nuclei have been investigated following their production via relativistic projectile fragmentation of a E/A=l GeV 238U beam on a Be target. The cocktail of secondary beam products were separated and identified using the GSI FRagment Separator (FRS). The nuclei of interest were implanted in a high-granularity active stopper detector set-up consisting of 6 double sided silicon strip detectors. The associated gamma-ray transitions were detected with the RISING array, consisting of 15 Euroball cluster Ge-detectors. Time-correlated gamma decays from individually identified nuclear species have been recorded, allowing the clean identification of isomeric decays.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A complete kinematics study of the B-10(He-3,p alpha alpha alpha) and B-11(He-3,d alpha alpha alpha) reactions has been performed to study the multi-particle break-up of C-12 resonances above the triple-alpha threshold. Four-particle coincidence detection gives us complete information on the direction and energy of the individual alpha particles from the decay of C-12, allowing us to extract new information on the structure of C-12 which we shall present in this contribution. We have observed gamma de-excitation of the T=1 15.11 MeV resonance using charged particle detectors, and have constructed Dalitz plots of the individual resonances in C-12 using the complete kinematics information of the alpha particles which come from their break-up.

  • Flow in thin domains with a microstructure : Lubrication and thin porous media
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : AIP Publishing. - 0094-243X .- 1551-7616. ; 1798
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper is devoted to homogenization of different models of flow in thin domains with a microstructure. The focus is on applications connected to the effect of surface roughness in full film lubrication, but a parallel to flow in thin porous media is also discussed. Mathematical models of such flows naturally include two small parameters. One is connected to the fluid film thickness and the other to the microstructure. The corresponding asymptotic analysis is a delicate problem, since the result depends on how fast the two small parameters tend to zero relative to each other. We give a review of the current status in this area and point out some future challenges.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The ability to predict surface defects in outer panels is of vital importance in the automotive industry, especially for brands in the premium car segment. Today, measures to prevent these defects can not be taken until a test part has been manufactured, which requires a great deal of time and expense. The decision as to whether a certain surface is of acceptable quality or not is based on subjective evaluation. It is quite possible to detect a defect by measurement, but it is not possible to correlate measured defects and the subjective evaluation. If all results could be based on the same criteria, it would be possible to compare a surface by both FE simulations, experiments and subjective evaluation with the same result. In order to find a solution concerning the prediction of surface defects, a laboratory tool was manufactured and analysed both experimentally and numerically. The tool represents the area around a fuel filler lid and the aim was to recreate surface defects, so-called "teddy bear ears". A major problem with the evaluation of such defects is that the panels are evaluated manually and to a great extent subjectivity is involved in the classification and judgement of the defects. In this study the same computer software was used for the evaluation of both the experimental and the numerical results. In this software the surface defects were indicated by a change in the curvature of the panel. The results showed good agreement between numerical and experimental results. Furthermore, the evaluation software gave a good indication of the appearance of the surface defects compared to an analysis done in existing tools for surface quality measurements. Since the agreement between numerical and experimental results was good, this indicates that these tools can be used for an early verification of surface defects in outer panels. ©2005 American Institute of Physics

  • Failure Analysis With a New Tool Geometry, X-Die, in Areas With High Tension/Compression Strains
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: MATERIALS PROCESSING AND DESIGN; Modeling, Simulation and Applications; NUMIFORM '07; Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Numerical Methods in Industrial Forming Processes (AIP Conference Proceedings). - : AIP. - 1551-7616 .- 0094-243X. - 9780735404151 ; 908, s. 1445-1450
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Sheet-metal forming involves a complex strain distribution over the part. The strains consist of tension, compression, and a mix of both. A geometry has been developed, the X-Die, in order to gain insight into the strain behavior of different materials. The X-Die enables strain paths far into the tension/compression region, thus creating the possibility to extend the experimental base both for definition and for further extrapolation of the Forming Limit Curve (FLC) in the tension/compression region, as well as to evaluate FE-simulation results for the same region.Today, evaluation of cracks is made by using FLC. In the conventional test methods, the strains only reach 40% compression (true strain) and often much lower percentages. In conventional test methods, the FLC for any region beyond these levels is extrapolated from existing data. The experimental test proposed in this work consists of a geometry, the X-die, which has shown that rates of 70% tension/compression can be reached (point 0.7/−0.7 in the FLC). Thereby, the region for prediction of cracks on the compression side can be extended in the Forming Limit Diagram (FLD). Furthermore, the strain paths are easy to follow and the limits when cracks appear can be evaluated. Furthermore, the experimental results show that the behavior depends on the material quality. Qualities such as Extreme High Strength Steel (EHSS) and Aluminum have a limited tension/compression rate due to failure in plane strain tension. Material qualities with high r-values, e.g. Mild steel and High Strength Steel (HSS), reach high tension/compression rates before failure and have regions with clearly defined strain signatures. This will be favorable for comparison with numerical simulations, especially for strain signatures in the tension/compression region. Furthermore, the experiments did not indicate any limitation in the compression region besides the one defined in the normal procedure in creation of an FLC.This geometry is favorable to calibrate simulation results, in order to analyze prediction of strains located on the left side in an FLD. ©2007 American Institute of Physics

  • 2017
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : American Institute of Physics Inc.. - 0094-243X. - 9780735415805
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This work present an approach of how to account for the anisotropic mechanical material behaviour in the simulation models of the thin aluminium foil layer (≈10 μm) used in the Packaging Industry. Furthermore, the experimental results from uniaxial tensile tests are parameterised into an analytical expression and the slope of the hardening subsequently extended way beyond the experimental data points. This in order to accommodate the locally high stresses present in the experiments at the neck formation. An analytical expression, denominated Ramberg-Osgood, is used to describe the non-linear mechanical behaviour. Moreover it is possible with a direct method to translate the experimental uniaxial tensile test results into useful numerical material model parameters in Abaqus™. In addition to this the extended material behaviour including the plastic flow i.e. hardening, valid after onset of localisation, the described procedure can also capture the microscopic events, i.e. geometrical thinning, ongoing in the deformation of the aluminium foil. This method has earlier successfully been applied by Petri Mäkelä for paperboard material [1]. The engineering sound and parameterised description of the mechanical material behaviour facilitates an efficient categorisation of different aluminium foil alloys and aid the identification of the correct anisotropic (RD/TD/45°) mechanical material behaviour derived from the physical testing. © 2017 Author(s).

  • 2014

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The present status on the existence, structure and stability of static and stationary solutions of the Einstein-Vlasov system is reviewed. Under the assumptions that a spherically symmetric static object has isotropic pressure and non-increasing energy density outwards, Buchdahl showed 1959 the bound M/R<4/9, where M is the ADM mass and R the outer radius. Most static solutions of the Einstein-Vlasov system do not satisfy these assumptions. The bound M/R<4/9 nevertheless holds and it is sharp. An analogous bound in the charged case is also given. The important question of stability of spherically symmetric static solutions is presently open but numerical results are available and these are reviewed. A natural question is to go beyond spherical symmetry and consider axially symmetric solutions, and a recent result on the existence of axially symmetric stationary solutions is also discussed.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, a multi-port non-isolated SEPIC converter is analysed for integrating with the renewable energy source and also losses and efficiency are calculated. The proposed converter utilizes a single stage power conversion, thereby providing higher energy efficiency. The proposed structure comprises of a combination of Pulsating Voltage Cells (PVC) and Pulsating Voltage Source Cell (PVSC) on the input side and a Pulsating Voltage Load Cell (PVLC) on the output side. The two topologies involved are Multi Input Single Output (MISO) and Multi Input Multiple Output (MIMO) which are bidirectional. The efficiency of the proposed multi-port converter has been calculated by determining the switching stress of the power electronic switches used. The proposed multi-port SEPIC converter considers the entire system to be a single-stage converter, and promises higher energy efficiency.

    • In this paper we investigate the basic ingredients for global superconvergence strategy of streamline diffusion (SD) and discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element approximations in $H^{1}$ and $W^{1,\infty}$-norms (see \cite{Adams:75}) for the solution of the Vlasov--Poisson--Fokker--Planck system. This study is an extension of the results in \cite{Asadzadeh:90}-\cite{Asadzadeh.Sopasakis:2007}, to finite element schemes including discretizations of the Poisson term, where we also introduce results of an extension of the $h$-versions of SD and DG to the corresponding $hp$-versions. Optimal convergence results presented in the paper relay on the estimates for the regularized Green's functions with memory terms where some interpolation postprocessing techniques play important roles, see \cite{Baouendi.Grisvard:86}.

    • In cognitive psychology, some experiments of games were reported [1, 2, 3, 4], and these demonstrated that real players did not use the "rational strategy" provided by classical game theory. To discuss probabilities of such "irrational choice", recently, we proposed a decision-making model which is based on the formalism of quantum mechanics [5, 6, 7, 8]. In this paper, we briefly explain the above model and calculate the probability of irrational choice in several prisoner's dilemma (PD) games.

    • Ultrahigh frequencies (UHF) have applications in signal and power electronics to minimize product sizes, increase production quantity and lower manufacturing cost. In the UHF range of 300 MHz to 3 GHz, ferrimagnetic iron oxides (ferrites) are especially useful because they combine the properties of a magnetic material with that of an electrical insulator. Ferrites have much higher electrical resistivity than metallic ferromagnetic materials, resulting in minimization of the eddy current losses, and total penetration of the electromagnetic (EM) field. Hence ferrites are frequently applied as circuit elements, magnetic storage media like read/write heads, phase shifters and Faraday rotators. The electromagnetic properties of ferrites are affected by operating conditions such as field strength, temperature and frequency. The spinel system ZnxCo1-xFe2O4 (x= 0.0, 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75) has been prepared by the standard solid state sintering method. X-ray and neutron powder diffraction measurements were performed at room temperature. Neutron diffraction data analysis confirms the cubic symmetry corresponding to the space group Fd3m. The distribution of three cations Zn2+, Co2+ and Fe3+ over the spinel lattice and other crystallographic parameters like lattice constant, oxygen position parameter, overall temperature factor and occupancies of different ions in different lattice sites for the samples have been determined from the analysis of neutron diffraction data. The lattice constant increases with increasing Zn content in the system. The magnetic structure was found to be ferrimagnetic for the samples with x

  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Nuclei and Mesoscopic Physic. - : AIP. - 1551-7616 .- 0094-243X. ; 995, s. 25-33
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We examine the formation of vortices in a one- and two-component gas of bosonic atoms in a harmonic trap that is set rotating. Both the mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii approach, and the numerical diagonalization method are employed. For a two-component Bose gas, we show that beside the well-known coreless vortices of single quantization, the interatomic interactions between the two species may lead to coreless vortices of multiple quantization. We furthermore comment on the geometries of the interlaced vortex patterns. In the limit of weak interactions, we finally demonstrate a number of exact results.

  • A Double Scattering Analytical Model For Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings, Volume 1336. - : AIP. - 9780735408913 ; , s. 314-318
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present an analytical model for calculation of double scattering in elastic recoil detection measurements. Only events involving the beam particle and the recoil are considered, i.e. 1) an ion scatters off a target element and then produces a recoil, and 2) an ion produces a recoil which then scatters off a target element. Events involving intermediate recoils are not considered, i.e. when the primary ion produces a recoil which then produces a second recoil. If the recoil element is also present in the stopping foil, recoil events in the stopping foil are also calculated. We included the model in the standard code for IBA data analysis NDF, and applied it to the measurement of hydrogen in Si.

  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : American Institute of Physics (AIP). - 0094-243X .- 1551-7616. ; 1327, s. 63-70
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a quantum-like model of decision making in games of the Prisoner's Dilemma type. By this model the brain processes information by using representation of mental states in complex Hilbert space. Driven by the master equation the mental state of a player, say Alice, approaches an equilibrium point in the space of density matrices. By using this equilibrium point Alice determines her mixed (i.e., probabilistic) strategy with respect to Bob. Thus our model is a model of thinking through decoherence of initially pure mental state. Decoherence is induced by interaction with memory and external environment. In this paper we study (numerically) dynamics of quantum entropy of Alice's state in the process of decision making. Our analysis demonstrates that this dynamics depends nontrivially on the initial state of Alice's mind on her own actions and her prediction state (for possible actions of Bob.)

  • Generator of neutrino-nucleon interactions for the FLUKA based simulation code
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: American Institute of Physics Conference Series. - American Institute of Physics : AIP. ; , s. 343-346
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An event generator of neutrino-nucleon and neutrino-nucleus interactions has been developed for the general purpose Monte Carlo code FLUKA. The generator includes options for simulating quasi-elastic interactions, the neutrino-induced resonance production and deep inelastic scattering. Moreover, it shares the hadronization routines developed earlier in the framework of the FLUKA package for simulating hadron-nucleon interactions. The simulation of neutrino-nuclear interactions makes use of the well developed PEANUT event generator implemented in FLUKA for modeling of the interactions between hadrons and nuclei. The generator has been tested in the neutrino energy range from 0 to 10 TeV and it is available in the standard FLUKA distribution. Limitations related to some particular kinematical conditions are discussed. A number of upgrades is foreseen for the generator which will optimize its applications for simulating experiments in the CNGS beam.

  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Exotic Nuclei and Nuclear/Particle Astrophysics (II). - American Institute of Physics : AIP. ; , s. 449-454
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Primary GCR interact with the Earth's atmosphere originating atmospheric showers, thus giving rise to fluxes of secondary particles in the atmosphere. Electromagnetic and hadronic interactions interplay in the production of these particles, whose detection is performed by means of complementary techniques in different energy ranges and at different depths in the atmosphere, down to the Earth's surface.Monte Carlo codes are essential calculation tools which can describe the complexity of the physics of these phenomena, thus allowing the analysis of experimental data. However, these codes are affected by important uncertainties, concerning, in particular, hadronic physics at high energy. In this paper we shall report some results concerning inclusive particle fluxes and atmospheric shower properties as obtained using the FLUKA transport and interaction code. Some emphasis will also be given to the validation of the physics models of FLUKA involved in these calculations.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • After successful demonstrations of soft-tissue phase-contrast imaging with grating interferometers at synchrotron radiation sources and at laboratory based x-ray tubes, a first preclinical CT scanner with grating based phase contrast imaging modality has been constructed. The rotating gantry is equipped with a three-grating interferometer, a 50 watt tungsten anode source and a Hamamatsu flat panel detector. The total length of the interferometer is 45 cm, and the bed of the scanner is optimized for mice, with a scanning diameter of 35 mm. From one single scan both phase-contrast and standard attenuation based tomography can be attained, providing an overall gain in image contrast.

  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present an adaptive finite element method for solution of an electromagnetic coefficient inverse problem to reconstruct the dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability functions. The inverse problem is formulated as an optimal control problem, where we solve the equations of optimality expressing stationarity of an associated Lagrangian by a quasi-Newton method: in each step we compute the gradient by solving a forward and an adjoint equation. We formulate an adaptive algorithm which can be used to efficiently solve electromagnetic coefficient inverse problem.

    • A globally convergent numerical method for a multidimensional Coefficient Inverse Problem for a hyperbolic equation is presented. It is shown that this technique provides a good starting point for the finite element adaptive method (adaptivity). This leads to a natural two-stage numerical procedure, which synthesizes both these methods.

  • 2010
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings; International Conference on Numerical Analysis and Applied Mathematics Rhodes, GREECE, SEP 19-25, 2010. - : AIP. - 0094-243X .- 1551-7616. - 9780735408340 ; 1281, s. 324-328
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A fully explicit, discontinuous hybrid finite element/finite difference method is proposed for the numerical solution of Maxwell's equations in the time domain. We call the method hybrid since the different numerical methods, interior penalty discontinuous finite element method, developed in [1], and finite difference method [2], are used in different parts of the computational domain. Thus, the flexibility of finite elements is combined with the efficiency of finite differences. Our numerical experiment illustrates stability of the proposed new method.
