- The article presents an overview of considerations made in the process of revising verbal constructional patterns in the monolingual defining dictionary Svensk ordbok utgiven av Svenska Akademien (‘The Contemporary Dictionary of the Swedish Academy’). The digital format of the dictionary makes it possible to provide extended, and at the same time more user-friendly, information on different combinatorial patterns, and also on their relation to syntactic examples.

- This article studies how Swedish aspectual constructions are represented in two dictionaries (Svensk ordbok utgiven av Svenska Akademien and Svenskt språkbruk. Ordbok över konstruktioner och fraser). Representations of Danish counterparts in Den Danske Ordbog are also examined. Aspectual constructions are sometimes difficult to fit into valency patterns, which is why the study focuses on valency, or constructional, information. The study shows that the studied dictionaries differ a good deal in terms of how they treat aspectual constructions. It is proposed that aspectual constructions could benefit from also being described at the constructional level.

- When establishing relations of equivalence between expressions in a source language and a target language, the bilingual lexicog¬rapher has various matters to consider: (1) whether to apply the contrastive perspective already when analyzing the source lan¬guage, (2) what kind of equivalence relationship should be estab¬lished, and (3) how to handle the different degrees of convention¬alization and lexicalization of concepts and expressions in the source language and target language, respectively. In addition, modern technology has influenced dictionary making, dictionary usage and possible user groups. For instance, lacunae of equiva¬lents have become obvious in web-based dictionaries. This paper discusses these matters – after a brief initial discussion about bilingual lexicography and its relationship to translation theory.

- Haquin Spegel’s Glossarium – Sveo-Gothicum (1712) marks an important step in the history of Swedish lexicography. Liberating his dictionary from the Latin-based tradition, the author himself compiled the lemma list. However, the information provided in the entries is not typical of any specific type of dictionary. In this article, the mono-, bi- and multilingual features of the Glossarium are described. This survey leads to the issue of Spegel’s aim with his effort. In addition to producing a Swedish dictionary, he also intended to further the knowledge of Swedish in the international science community and to contribute to an ongoing work on a polyglot dictionary: a lexicon harmonicum.

- The ISLEX projects aim at developing an on-line dictionary site with Icelandic as the source language and the three Scandinavian languages as the target languages. This article presents the ISLEX projects, focusing on the phraseological aspects of the bilingual Icelandic-Swedish dictionary. It also describes the work on Frasbanken.se, an onomasiological electronic resource for presenting phrasemes in Swedish. Frasbanken.se is being developed to give additional phraseological information to users of the Icelandic-Swedish version of ISLEX, and is also meant to be used as a self-contained phraseological component for L2 and L1 speakers of Swedish. In developing Frasbanken.se, our main concern has been to meet the lexicographical and pedagogical needs of the L2 speaker with respect to phraseology. L2 speakers are known to acquire phraseological information at a late stage in their linguistic progress. Lack of phraseological competence can lead to complications for the learner; he or she needs to rely heavily on grammatical rules, failing to use prefabricated chunks, and the L2 speaker appears less idiomatic in his or her language production. Frasbanken.se is thus a well-directed resource for competent L1 speakers of Iceelandic with Swedish as their L2.

- In recent years, most dictionary publishers have developed dictionary apps. However, in comparison with the comprehensive scientific study of printed and web-based dictionaries, conducted research on this kind of lexicographical resource is so far limited. This article discusses four monolingual dictionary apps developed by The Society for Danish Language and Literature. The focus is on the contemporary dictionary The Danish Dictionary. Different search functions are discussed, as well as how data is presented. The article also deals with what kinds of dictionaries are best suited for the app format. A key issue is whether this format really does render all dictionaries justice, and if app development is always advisable from a user’s perspective.

- The Internet media gives access to a large number of actual users in more or less real user situations. One year ago I studied the log files from one of the free electronic learner dictionaries in Lexin online (dictionaries for immigrants); the monolingual Svenska ord. The log file analysis has now been followed up by a web questionnaire about the users of the very same dictionary. This article presents the result of the questionnaire where users were asked, firstly, basic questions of age, gender, native language etc. and, secondly, questions concerning their searches in the dictionary. Also, the article shortly discusses the conditions for future studies of dictionary users and dictionary usage.

- During the last 15 years the human language technology group at KTH has developed tools and resources that may have interest to the lexicographical community. Several tools were developed as part of the group's research on Swedish authoring tools: spelling error detection and correction, grammar checking, part-of-speech tagging, lemmatization, compound splitting, and an interactive learning environment called Grim. Most of the tools are made open source and may be downloaded from www.csc.kth.se/theory/humanlang We have also made several dictionaries available on the web: the Lexin series of dictionaries for 15 languages, the Scandinavian Dictionary, the Tvärslå dictionary collection, the Swedish Hyphenation Dictionary and the two crowd sourced resources The People's Dictionary of Synonyms and The People's English-Swedish Dictionary.

- In this paper, we report on a comparative pilot investigation concerning medical language in The Contemporary Dictionary of the Swedish Academy (SO). Challenges posed by how general languages dictionaries treat lemmas commonly used in the field of medicine are identified. We clarify how the field of medicine is presented in the first edition of SO (2009). Comparisons are made between SO and two Swedish specialist Internet resources. The paper is concluded with a discussion of how the field of medicine can be presented in the second edition of SO.

- Finnish terminology work has existed in Sweden ever since a largenumber of Finns moved from Finland to Sweden in the 1960s and1970s. According to Swedish legislation, people belonging to a nationalminority are to be given the opportunity to learn, developand use the minority language. Therefore, there is a need for terminologyin the minority languages. The production of glossaries is animportant task for the Language Council of Sweden. Sweden-Finnishterminology has been created in a number of fields, for exampleeducation, employment, social welfare and healthcare. Glossariesare created based on the Finnish-speaking population’s need forFinnish terminology in Sweden. The Sweden-Finnish equivalentsare often loan translations, but sometimes they have to be createdin a different manner.

- This paper addresses the question of where and how to cover linguistic patterns that do not quite belong either to the domain of lexicon or that of grammar. We present some examples of such constructions and introduce the notion of a Constructicon, as a complementary kind of resource to dictionaries and grammars, to account for them. We also examine the treatment of these example constructions in Swedish dictionaries, and discuss to what extent they can and should be treated there.
