  • Phase retrieval via non-rigid image registration
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: arXiv.org. - 2331-8422.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Phase retrieval is the numerical procedure of recovering a complex-valued signal from knowledge about its amplitude and some additional information. Here, an indirect registration procedure, based on the large deformation diffeomorphic metric mapping (LDDMM) formalism, is investigated as a phase retrieval method for coherent diffractive imaging. The method attempts to find a deformation which transforms an initial, template image to match an unknown target image by comparing the diffraction pattern to the data. The exterior calculus framework is used to treat different types of deformations in a unified and coordinate-free way. The algorithm performance with respect to measurement noise, image topology, and particular action are explored through numerical examples.

  • Automatic Control of Reactive Brain Computer Interfaces
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: arXiv.org. - 2331-8422.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This article discusses practical and theoretical aspects of real-time brain computer interface control methods based on Bayesian statistics. We investigate and improve the performance of automatic control and feedback algorithms of a reactive brain computer interface based on a visual oddball paradigm for faster statistical convergence. We introduce transfer learning using Gaussian mixture models, enabling a ready-to-use setup.

  • Megahertz X-ray Multi-projection imaging
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: arXiv.org. - 2331-8422.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • X-ray time-resolved tomography is one of the most popular X-raytechniques to probe dynamics in three dimensions (3D). Recent developments in time-resolved tomography opened the possibility of recordingkilohertz-rate 3D movies. However, tomography requires rotating thesample with respect to the X-ray beam, which prevents characterization of faster structural dynamics. Here, we present megahertz (MHz)X-ray multi-projection imaging (MHz-XMPI), a technique capable ofrecording volumetric information at MHz rates and micrometer resolution without scanning the sample. We achieved this by harnessing theunique megahertz pulse structure and intensity of the European X-rayFree-electron Laser with a combination of novel detection and reconstruction approaches that do not require sample rotations. Our approachenables generating multiple X-ray probes that simultaneously record several angular projections for each pulse in the megahertz pulse burst. We provide a proof-of-concept demonstration of the MHz-XMPI technique’s capability to probe 4D (3D+time) information on stochasticphenomena and non-reproducible processes three orders of magnitudefaster than state-of-the-art time-resolved X-ray tomography, by generating 3D movies of binary droplet collisions. We anticipate that MHz-XMPIwill enable in-situ and operando studies that were impossible before, either due to the lack of temporal resolution or because the systemswere opaque (such as for MHz imaging based on optical microscopy).

  • Somoclu : An Efficient Distributed Library for Self-Organizing Maps
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: arXiv. - : Cornell University. - 2331-8422.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Somoclu is a C++ tool for training self-organizing maps on large data sets using a high-performance cluster. It builds on MPI for distributing the workload across the nodes of the cluster. It is also able to boost training by using CUDA if graphics processing units are available. A sparse kernel is included, which is useful for high-dimensional but sparse data, such as the vector spaces common in text mining workflows. The code is released under GNU GPLv3 licence.
